SSI01 Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Greetings. I am running FS9 on my computer, and my currently-installed FSUIPC module is version 3.7.5.0. I just downloaded and attempted to install version 3.999 into FS9, using the provided auto-installer. Instructions say to place the FSUIPC.exe on my desktop and right-click on it, which should open a dialog box that will say "run as . . . . administrator." This doesn't happen with my machine, for some reason I don't have that option. I am left with opening the installer in the normal fashion. The program runs, then I get this dialog box saying the system can not find the path specified. The path specified is: EXE Path="C:\New aircraft folder\WORKING TRANSFER FOLDER" Checking if there's already a version of FSUIPC installed in: C:\New aircraft folder\WORKING TRANSFER FOLDER\Modules\FSUIPC.DLL ... No previous valid version found. Failed to place FSUIPC.DLL into folder as "C:\New aircraft folder\WORKING TRANSFER FOLDER\Modules\FSUIPC.DLL" Error 3 reported ("The system cannot find the path specified. ") C:\New aircraft folder\WORKING TRANSFER FOLDER is a folder I use when opening aircraft downloads that have installers; I don't like to install anything directly into the sim, I want to review it first before I make that input. This folder has nothing to do with FS9 per se. My FS9 installation is in my F: drive, specific path is: My Computer/F: Drive/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator 9. In addition, I have three other FS9 installations on F: drive, each tailored to a specific time frame, the reason being so I don't overload the basic FS9 installation with every aircraft I want to install into the sim. They are kept in a separate hangar and brought over when I desire to fly them. How do I go about opening 3.999 in such a way I can steer it to FS9, at least, and to each of the other FS installations if possible?

Try running the FSX/FS9 Registry Repair utility from here: http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library BTW, why didn't you post your question here, in the FSUIPC Support Forum, in the first place? It is listed as the place to come in all the FSUIPC documents, and on its main options screen, and on the download webiste. Regards Pete
SSI01 Posted March 7, 2012 Author Report Posted March 7, 2012 I am "Owner" according to the start-up screen. Machine: MS Windows SP Pro 2002 SP3 AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.01 GHz, 3.25GB RAM Video: RADEON HD6850 Went to those places but for some reason did not connect. Trying to help out an 89-year-old mother-in-law, plus a wife just recovering from a knee replacement at the same time - gets a little hectic. Sorry. Will run the registry repair utility. SSI01
SSI01 Posted March 7, 2012 Author Report Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) Just finished running the FSUIPC install utility - it got as far as this: INSTALLATION FOR FS9: EXE Path="F:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\" Checking if there's already a version of FSUIPC installed in: F:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\FSUIPC.DLL ... Version 3.750 found. Failed to place FSUIPC.DLL into folder as "F:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\FSUIPC.DLL" Error 32 reported ("The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. ") I'm not running FS9, have no FS windows open nor do I have any FS files accessed at this time. Edited March 7, 2012 by SSI01
Pete Dowson Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 Machine: MS Windows SP Pro 2002 SP3 Do you mean "XP"? I don't know any "Windows SP". With XP SP3 I most certainly get the "run as administrator" option when RIGHT clicking on any EXE program. Place the Install FSUIPC.EXE program into a folder, view it in Windows Explorer, then right click on it. What options DO you see? If there's a "Run As" click that. This may bring up a dialogue window in which you can select either "the current user" or "the following user", and in the latter case you sohuld be able to select "Administrator" (maybe with a password if you set one). Went to those places but for some reason did not connect. What places? Sorry, I don't understand. Windows does not report such an error just for fun! It sounds like you have run FS9 and it has hung on closing. Some add-ons can cause this to happen. Its windows are all closed so you can't see it, but check the Task Manager's process list (right click in the task bar, select Task manager then the Processes tab). You can either terminate the FS9.EXE process forcibly from there, or just re-boot Windows and DON'T run FS9 until after you complete FSUIPC installation. Regards Pete
SSI01 Posted March 7, 2012 Author Report Posted March 7, 2012 OK, will try the reboot and then attempt to complete the FSUIPC install w/o FS9 being started. I recently installed the POSKY B747SP, GE and RR engines variants into the sim; ever since they've been installed they will go about one hour into flight, then terminate the sim with a black screen, then a notice that FS9 has encountered a problem and needed to shut down. They are the only aircraft that cause this problem, so it is definitely something associated with the download. There could be a myriad of problems causing this, not having a current FSUIPC installation could be one of them so am eliminating that possibility with this install. Besides, the sim needs the update.
SSI01 Posted March 7, 2012 Author Report Posted March 7, 2012 Restarted WindowsXP and attempted installation of FSUIPC - the application installed correctly and fully! Next step is to determine what problem is with the 747SP.
