calspee Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Really sorry to bother you with this but I've never had a problem with FSUIPC4..(I believe the latest version)...recently I had to do a complete reinstall of FSX due to other problems unrelated to FSUIPC4...I have an F-16 Radar gauge installed in each of my aircraft to keep a eye on all the AI planes flying around me...however when I start FSX and am at the airport..I can see all the aircraft on the ground as well as in the air...but when I switch on the Radar gauge..no traffic is displayed...this has never happened before...so I closed FSX and reregistered FSUIPC4..and started FSX...and the AI planes did appear in the Radar gauge....my question is.. it seems that I need to install and reregister FSUIPC4 before I start FSX and that seems to work..but I never had to do that process before...has anybody else had this problem and is there a fix to make FSUIPC4 work everytime I start FSX...sorry about the length of this question and I hope I made some sense...never had to reregister FSUIPC4 over and over in order to make AI planes appear on a radar gauge....thanks for any help...really appreciate this site and all that FSUIPC4 allows you to do in FSX...I do have a valid registered copy of FSUIPC4.
Pete Dowson Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Really sorry to bother you with this but I've never had a problem with FSUIPC4..(I believe the latest version). Much better and easier to tell me the version number -- 4.82 is the latest version. What is yours? however when I start FSX and am at the airport..I can see all the aircraft on the ground as well as in the air...but when I switch on the Radar gauge..no traffic is displayed...this has never happened before...so I closed FSX and reregistered FSUIPC4..and started FSX...and the AI planes did appear in the Radar gauge....my question is.. it seems that I need to install and reregister FSUIPC4 before I start FSX and that seems to work I think you must be misinterpreting the symptoms somehow. All registration does is create a KEY file in your FSX Modules folder. Once that is created it never needs to be created again uness you delete it. There is absolutely nothing else involved in registration with any recent version of FSUIPC4. Additionally I do not know of any radar gauge which needs a registered version of FSUIPC4, which makes me even more convinced that registration is nothing to do with it -- unless, that is, there is actualy something wrong with the registration, or something that makes it look wrong. One thing which will do that is forgetting to set the correct date on your PC -- any date set before your purchase date will make the registration look invalid. You can also check whether it is a bad registration by removing the KEY file so that FSUIPC runs unregistered. Re-installing FSUIPC4 merely replaces the FSUIPC4.DLL itself, and instals the documentation again, so that too cannot affect this -- re-installation never touches any of your settings in the INI file and any macro or Lua files you may have. So again, it cannot be that which is making any difference. I think you have something else going on. Maybe it's an FS9 gauge you are using in FSX? That is known to be troublesome. If you need more help on this I will need to see the FSUIPC4 logs -- one from an "ok" session and one from a failed session. Make sure FSX is closed down first for each. You can paste the files in a message here. Regards Pete
Kym Clarke Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 can I put this 4.82 version of fsuipc on my system if I have windows xp?
calspee Posted April 10, 2012 Author Report Posted April 10, 2012 Ok ...the latest on my FSUIPC4 problem....I tried installing your new version 4.82....all went well and also registered it..etc...when I started FSX.. it did start up...however when I chose the aircraft...location..weather..and time....clicked to start flight....FSX started to load as usual then when it reached 100% loaded ..FSX crashed...(Fatal Error).....tried this several times...each time..FSX crashed....so I removed the FSUIPC4 4.82 module from FSX and tried again to load FSX and it worked fine without FSUIPC4....so I loaded FSUIPC4 4.53 which is what I always had in FSX..registered it and loaded FSX...FSX did work and loaded fine but no add-on for FSUIPC4 appeared on the tool bar on top of the FSX screen...so I tried this several times and no luck loading FSUIPC4 4.53 to the add-on tool bar in FSX although FSIPUC4 module is in the "Add On" module folder in FSX.....like I said originally...I never had a problem with FSUIPC4 within FSX...now for some reason after reinstalling FSX....FSUIPC4 is not responding...I copied and pasted the install log for 4.53 which I hope will help you out with my problem...thanks again for the help... ..Installer install for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.53 Looking in registry for FSX install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 Parameter"SetupPath" ... >>> OK! Pete Dowson Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Ok ...the latest on my FSUIPC4 problem....I tried installing your new version 4.82....all went well and also registered it..etc...when I started FSX.. it did start up...however when I chose the aircraft...location..weather..and time....clicked to start flight....FSX started to load as usual then when it reached 100% loaded ..FSX crashed...(Fatal Error). Sounds like a corrupted weather file. Please show me the FSUIPC4.LOG file, from the FSX Modules folder. I copied and pasted the install log for 4.53 which I hope will help you out with my problem. No, sorry, nothing related to such an old version is of any use to me at all. Regards Pete
RobD Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Ok ...the latest on my FSUIPC4 problem....I tried installing your new version 4.82....all went well and also registered it..etc...when I started FSX.. it did start up...however when I chose the aircraft...location..weather..and time....clicked to start flight....FSX started to load as usual then when it reached 100% loaded ..FSX crashed...(Fatal Error).....tried this several times...each time..FSX crashed....so I removed the FSUIPC4 4.82 module from FSX and tried again to load FSX and it worked fine without FSUIPC4.... Interesting, I get exactly this as well with 4.82 You may find that if you click to a different main menu item, then click on Free Flight again, fsx will crash at that point as well. I only had the scenery load all the way to 100% once before fsx crashed, thereafter fsx would crash a few secs after clicking 'fly now', until I deleted fsx.cfg. Since having done that, fsx loads the scenery all the way to 100% every time before crashing. can I put this 4.82 version of fsuipc on my system if I have windows xp? Kym, would be better to start a new topic, threads get confused otherwise.
calspee Posted April 11, 2012 Author Report Posted April 11, 2012 this is FSUIPC4 4.53 which seems to be the only version that won't cause my FSX to crash when loading....should I try the 4.82 version again and send you that log??********* FSUIPC4, Version 4.53 by Pete Dowson ********* Reading options from "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSUIPC4.ini" NOTE: SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 is supported, but it isn't installed. I'm pretty sure most versions until very recently would have worked. You seem to have left it a very long time indeed to update. Version 4.53 hasn't been supported now for well over two years, and there have been many updates since then. Your real problem is as illustrated in the log, "SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 is supported, but it isn't installed". You appear to be using an out of date version of FSX. I would strongly advise you to install SP2. Alternatively, if there are good reasons not to, please try version 4.821 (see the Download Links subforum), which, as you'll see if you refer to the other thread on this ("FSX crashes when 'Free Flight' is selected", has been changed slightly to avoid a SimConnect problem in FSX SP1 and earlier. I realy don't want to see logs from very old versions, so if you still have problems please only paste in logs from supported versions. Thank you. Regards Pete
