PMDG 737 NGX autopilot and FSUIPC

Recommended Posts

I have recently purchased FSUIPC because I was annoyed by the huge and sudden changes in wind speed and direction.

I fly the PMDG 737 NGX and use FS Passengers.

During the last couple of flights i have taken off and then during the flight the wind changes (albeit more slowly than it used to). However, I invariable find that my PMDG 737 has difficulty maintaining course. It veres away from the flight plan and often exceed the bank limit.

On a recent lfight the wind was a 90 knots from 350 degrees (roughly a tail wind). It swung to 170 degrees with a similiar strength and then around to 020 degrees with winds rapidly changing from 89 to 90 knots and back again.

The weather setings in my FSuIPC module are

Smooth wind near aircraft (ticked)

Number of seconds for 1 knot or 1 degree change = 2

Smooth only when airborne (ticked)

Weather read interval = 6

All changes in FS Weather (ticked)

Allow gusts in upper wind (ticked)

I download real world weather using FSX at the start of each flight and do not use a 3rd part weather system

Any help would be appreciated. If I can not find a solution I will need to delete FSUIPC - at least it was better to overspeed occassionaly rather than to bank an an uncontrollable angle and fly in the wrong direction

The PMDG NGX is extremely sensitive to turbulence, variance and gusts. You will either need to suppress these (see the check boxes in FSUIPC options, just under and in the same box as the smoothing options), or adjust the dynamics of these effects in the FSUIPC4.INI file -- the parameters are:

TurbulenceRate=1.0,5.0

TurbulenceDivisor=20,20,10,10

Please read about these in the FSUIPC Advanced User's guide.

I think there may be recommened values posted somewhere in the PMDG NGX support forum.

Regards

Pete
