GEEZO Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 I just added the registered version of fsuipc in FS9. The default FS9 keyboard commands are wiped out. Is there a way to re-populate the program with the default commands without entering them one by one? it seems to me there should be a file somewhere that I could just drop into the ini file and have done with it? I looked around for something like but could not find anything. I would like to have the default commands for starters and then change them later if I should so desire.
Pete Dowson Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 I just added the registered version of fsuipc in FS9. The default FS9 keyboard commands are wiped out. FSUIPC does not touch and has nothing whatsoever to do with FS9's assigned keyboard commands. It does allow you to assign keys overriding the FS assignments, but it doesn't do anything like that by itself, you'd have to assign each key you want changed individually. It sounds like you've corupted your FS9.CFG file, which contains all of the keyboard assignments in its [KEYBOARD_MAIN] and [KEYBOARD_SLEW] sections. If you delete the remaining mutilated CFG file FS9 will generate a new one with all the defaults next time to run it. But of course you'll then need to go through and set up your FS options again. GEEZO Posted June 8, 2013 Author Report Posted June 8, 2013 I now realize that the fs assignments are not touched by fsiupc. I installed it on my old computer and the keyboard there works fine. I have other problems on the new computer. I removed fsuipc.dll and attempted to re-install my copy of fsuipc.( the latest one) The install log tells me that fsuipc.dll was placed in the modules folder. It is not there. I tried a couple of times with the same result. Both "run as administrator" and straight foreward. The registration entries work ok but no fsuipc.dll in the modules folder. I hope I have not done something stupid that I can't recover from. I also ran a registry cleaner but that didn't work either. The last time I looked at the fs9.cfg file all my keyboard entries were still there. I will look again.
Pete Dowson Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 I removed fsuipc.dll and attempted to re-install my copy of fsuipc.( the latest one) There's NEVER any reason to uninstall fSUIPC just to install an update! The install log tells me that fsuipc.dll was placed in the modules folder. It is not there. You are not looking in the right place then! Or maybe you have Windows Explorer hiding filetypes from you! Show me the Install log. I also ran a registry cleaner but that didn't work either. Nothing to do with FSUIPC is in the Registry. The only things to do with FSUIPC are in the Modules folder -- FSUIPC.DLL, FSUIPC.INI, FSUIPC.LOG and the registrations in FSUIPC.KEY. Then all the documentation and ancillary files (eg Lua plugins) in the FSUIPC Documents subfolder. Pete
GEEZO Posted June 8, 2013 Author Report Posted June 8, 2013 All is fixed now. The install log tells me the dll was installled. My cure for it was to access the other computer and copy the dll over to the the one I am using now. That did the trick. The latest number is installed and works ok. As for the keyboard commands, I had to find a copy of one of the config files that had in it what I needed. I do not know what happened initially but all works as it should now. I must have done something I shouldn't have but I can't figure out what it what it was. Anyway, I put the whole thing to bed for the time being and hope it stays that way. It works and I am not going to try to fix it (again). Thanks, Paul....
