FSUIPC not working?

Recommended Posts

So I've used fsuipc for years now for virtual airlines, for squawkbox, for everything and it never gave me a problem. One day I went to do a flight for my VA and I noticed that GSX ground FSUIPC and more didn't show up in my addons tab. I logged into squawkbox without a problem which is strange because FSUIPC won't work for my acars or show up. I've tried a few different systems with different virtual airlines and none of them work. "Fsuipc is not running". I've tried reinstalling it several times, running everything as admin and it still doesn't work. It's odd because one day it just quit. I've been trying and older versions dont work, newer versions don't work. I'm completely dumbfounded on why it stopped. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry I didn't reply for so long, I was on vacation and just remembered this (since I did a flight today). How would I tell if it has? I tried reinstalling it several times, wouldn't that of fixed the corrupted file? I'm pretty sure Squawkbox runs off of FSUIPC and squawkbox DOES work, but no recording programs or PMSOUNDS, I'm dumbfounded. I can assure you that FSX is indeed running :P If you can tell me how to check if the file is indeed corrupt that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the reply!

(PS I now have upgraded to Windows 7)

FSUIPC is running if there is an FSUIPC entry in the FS Add-Ons menu.

If by "wouldn't that of ..." you mean "wouldn't that have ...", the answer is not necessarily, if the file was corrupted before the part where the FSUIPC entry is added.

Squawkbox3 on FS9 uses FSUIPC, but SB4 on FSX does not, it uses SimConnect.

I can't do that without seeing it. You'd need to paste it into a message here. But first see if FSUIPC is actually running. Also tell me which version, and check the FSX modules folder for an FSUIPC4.LOG file. Paste that in a message if ithere is one.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Dowson. FSUIPC doesn't show up in the addons menu. The last time I tried installing was FSUIPC4, and I couldnt find the FSUIPC4.log in the Modules folder, but I did see the DLL and registration files for FSUIPC4 in it if that helps.

Thanks again,

  Caleb

So, FSUIPC4 definitely is not being loaded. So it is likely that your DLL.XML file is bad. It is a text file. Load it into a text editor rthen paste it into a message here.

I couldn't find a dll.xml, are you still talking about in the modules folder? I'm sorry I'm confused. I have a folder labeled "FSUIPC documents" a text file "Fsuipc install" fsuipc4.dll and fsuipc4 registration.

The DLL.XML file is in the same folder as the FSX.CFG, something like <your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX. It's an FSX file, not an FSUIPC file -- the Modules folder doesn't exist on a default FSX installation.

Yes.The only thing I see wrong is a corruption in what looks to be a duplicated entry for the "AirbusNewHUD" module, unfortunately just before the FSUIPC4 entry.  Looks like some installer or other muckedthe file up, maybe it crashed or something?

Using a plain text editor, like Notepad (NOT Wordpad), correct the file by deleting this part, towards the end:

<Launch.Addon><Name>AirbusNewHUD</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad><Path>Addon Modules\AirbusNewHUD.dll</Path><DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName><DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName></Launch.Addon>

  <Launch.Addon><Name>A
  </Launch.Addon>

Regards
Pete
