larry78
Hi - I have an issue where my VA flight tracking app is disconnecting every 30 min or so due to issues with FSUIPC (which I understand may actually be due to SimConnect or some other issue). I'm not in front of my SIm PC now, but I have reviewed my FSUIPC logs and clearly see it not receiving SimConnect events. I tried the following with no success: switching from wifi to a wired internet connection increasing the FSUIPC "stall setting" to 9 configuring AS2012 to work with FSUIPC (per the Active Sky user guide) disabling AS2012 altogether Nothing seems to help and it's very frustrating as I'm losing 10s of hours of flight time do to the tracking app being disconnected (unless I babysit the app). It's also a bit disappointing because all I generally do to fix it is press the "Reconnect" button on the tracking app (a prime candidate for automated recovery). Anyway, I have my FSUIPC logs and I can also enable SimConnect logs. Is there anyone who has seen this or can help? Thanks, Larry
Pete Dowson
I have an issue where my VA flight tracking app is disconnecting every 30 min or so due to issues with FSUIPC (which I understand may actually be due to SimConnect or some other issue). I'm not in front of my SIm PC now, but I have reviewed my FSUIPC logs and clearly see it not receiving SimConnect events. I am not sure that a disconnect from a client application will result from a failure to receive SimConnect events. More likely that the same problem causes both -- something not allowing either Simconnect or FSUIPC any processor time. I think you are possibly being grossl unfair saying it is "issues with FSUIPC". I am interested to know what it is you see in your Log which suggests a lack of SimConnect events. What sort of frame rate is occurring at this time? What else is running? I tried the following with no success: switching from wifi to a wired internet connection increasing the FSUIPC "stall setting" to 9 configuring AS2012 to work with FSUIPC (per the Active Sky user guide) disabling AS2012 altogether What does the internet connection have to do with it? FSUIPC's SimConnect stall merely allows more "lack of receiving" time till it tries to reconnect. It won't stop it stalling in the first place.. Why would AS2012 have anything to do with it? It sounds as if you have something seriously affecting FS's performance, so much so that everything stalls. I'm afraid there's not ebough data here. You don't even state the version of FSUIPC in use. Note that nothing earlier than 4.91 is now supported for FSX or P3D. I'm afraid i am now away till next Tuesday. Regards Pete
larry78
OK thanks for the reply before your break. I will be back in front of my sim PC in a few and can provide more info. btw I didnt mean to sound so accusatory in the first post - just hopeful to get things up and running again. Agreed about the internet connection perhaps not being relevant (I was just pointing out what I tried), but apparently AS2012 uses SimConnect too and had some mention about disabling weather in FSUIPC when using both in conjunction. Not sure if this was a contributor so I completely eliminated AS2012 and the issue still happened (so likely not related). Will post more in a bit.. larry78
So in past cases, I've seen the following line in the logs: **** No SimConnect events or states being received! Pete Dowson
So in past cases, I've seen the following line in the logs: **** No SimConnect events or states being received! Re-connecting now ... **** That's certainly a sign of an overloaded FS, or possibly (but less likely in my experience) some add-on having a problem with Simconnect which stops it supplying data. But I'm just had another incident and this is the FSUIPC log. Note the sim is still running, just paused since the client error popup took the focus. But there's nothing there indicating any problem with FSUIPC or SimConnect. This message: 1135578 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 1026 secs = 29.7 fps merely indicates that SimConnect told FSUIPC that the simulation is paused when in a menu or loading something, that's all. And the frame rate certainly looks healthy enough. If your add-on is complaining of a disconnect simply when the data stops changing fast enough, it needs some attention in its coding. larry78
Thanks Pete - I appreciate the response. The issue continues to occur, but I will be taking it up with the VA's tracking app. If any new log statements pop up, I may post those as well. Thanks again and enjoy the trip! Pete Dowson
Hi Pete - I have brought this up with my VA, but meanwhile it's still happening so I wanted to post the latest log (as there is more info this time). These are entries into menus or similar: 463875 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 352 secs = 28.5 fps 674969 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 207 secs = 28.0 fps 774938 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 96 secs = 27.6 fps 1066219 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 287 secs = 29.3 fps 1219938 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 149 secs = 29.5 fps 1476078 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 251 secs = 29.7 fps 1610359 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 130 secs = 29.7 fps 2201813 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 580 secs = 29.7 fps 2227234 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 21 secs = 23.7 fps However, this is a sign that either FS or just SimConnect is being deprived of processor time: 18560813 **** No SimConnect events or states being received! Re-connecting now ... **** but that was 5 hours and 9 minutes into the session! Sounds like it might be some sort of memory leak or other problem. I've seen lots of reports of problems arising after many hours. Luckily I only like short flights -- all the fun is taking off and landing!
