Leef Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 OK - I feel like I am breaking all kinds of etiquette by doing this, but the main page said this was the way to get hold of Peter. So here goes - I have a registered copy of FSUIPC but do not know for which version, although I thought it was 4.x. We just got a new PC and the key will not work for some reason. I have the key but will not post it here for obvious reasons. The rest of my registration detail is: Name: Lee Friedman Email: drleef at comcast dot net Thanks!
Ian P Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Lee, If you go to your simMarket account, which you used to purchase the license key, it will tell you exactly which version it is for. You can either check under "my downloads" or "my orders". Ian P.
Pete Dowson Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I have a registered copy of FSUIPC but do not know for which version, although I thought it was 4.x. It isn't hard to find the version number. It is shown on the main options screen in FS, it is logged in the first line of the LOG file and withing the parameter file 9.INI), and it is shown in the DLL properties if you right click on the DLL and select "Properties-Version". We just got a new PC and the key will not work for some reason. If by "not working" you mean the key is stated to be invalid, then the most likely thing is that you are making a mistake. All three fields -- name, email/address and key must be correct and as originally used. As Ian says, you can check your details in your SimMarket account. Pete
Leef Posted August 14, 2013 Author Report Posted August 14, 2013 (edited) Hi - stupid me. I was not entering my name exactly as originally recorded on the order. Once I figured that out, the registration entry went smoothly (thanks to your suggestion to check my SimMarket receipt!). I also (today) printed that original SimMarket receipt as a pdf file and have saved it with all my other pdf receipts (something I do religiously now with any online order), so this issue should never happen again. Interestingly, I did in fact did copy my registration details after I ordered FSUIPC 4 (almost two years ago), but only recorded the Key and my email. When I entered my name on the recent install, I used an initial that I did not include in the original registration and that was precisely the reason why my registration was not accepted. Thanks, Pete, for paying such good attention to this. Hope the brewery hopping was fun! Edited August 14, 2013 by Leef
