hillbilly1703
Hi, I have just added a yoke to my system and did a clean install of the latest version FSUIPC4(using Loader.dll), I'm running Vista 64 with FSX sp2 and also have rudder pedals fitted. I have disabled the controllers in FSX but I'm unable to get FSUIPC to see them, no movement or button presses are being registered. As far as I can tell FSUIPC is installed correctly and even has an entry in the .ini for the yoke and pedals. I had everything working fine yesterday prior to re-install apart from a problem assigning one button.....hence the clean re-install. I'm sure I'm missing something simple but cannot figure it out. Pete Dowson
Hi, I have just added a yoke to my system and did a clean install of the latest version FSUIPC4(using Loader.dll) Why using the loader? In general it isn't a good idea, it is just a last resort. I'm running Vista 64 with FSX sp2 and also have rudder pedals fitted. Version number of FSUIPC4 please? If not 4.91, please first try that. Show me the FSUIPC4.INI and FSUIPC4 log files please. Close FSX down first. You can paste them into a message. Pete Dowson
thanks for the rapid response, here's the info. Okay. You said earlier: but I'm unable to get FSUIPC to see them, no movement or button presses are being registered Where did you look? In the axis assignments? In the button/switches tab? Because quite honestly i can see nothing which will stop FSUIPC seeing them -- unless perhaps you instlled Saitek's own software? Does FSX see them? FSUIPC4 uses EXACTLY the same process as FSX. The FSUIPC4.LOg file you show was NOT after a closed FSX as I asked, by the way, so I can't check a couple of things. There is an assignment already to airleron: Aileron=-16380,-512,512,16380 This does appear to use default values, but implies maybe that the INI file was retained from your previous install. Could you try renaming it or deleting it (it doesn't appear to contain anything useful). I see you said .hence the clean re-install I'm not sure what is really meant by a "clean reinstall", but to be so drastic for one button seems a bit, er, oever the top? So far all things look fine, however. Pete
hillbilly1703
Yes there is no input being registered in either the axis assignments or button/switches tab.I had indeed previously installed Saitek's own software, that was removed and a registry clean carried out. Is that how I likely messed this up? Pete Dowson
Yes there is no input being registered in either the axis assignments or button/switches tab. Okay. What about the answer to my question: "does FSX see them? FSUIPC4 uses EXACTLY the same process as FSX." I had indeed previously installed Saitek's own software, that was removed and a registry clean carried out. Is that how I likely messed this up? If by "registry clean" you mean you removed all entries referring to the device, then, yes, that would certainly mess t up cvompletely, because DirectInput entries in the registry define the presence of the devices! Try unplugging and re-plugging in. See if Windows announces (a USB connection sound) the re-connection. The only thing I meant from a "clean install" was that I removed all FSUIPC related files from the FSX/Modules folder prior to re-installing. Is there any other location where FSUIPC files are? No. But why on Earth delete any files there at all? The Installer replaces the only software part, FSUIPC4.DLL itself, deliberately leaving your previous settings and registration intact. It also updates the documents and Lua package in "FSUIPC Documents". If all you wanted to do was start again with assignments and so on, all you needed to do was delete the FSUIPC4.INI file. If I were you I'd delete the FSUIPC4.INI file (again), and reinstall the device, Also try a different USB socket, in case that one's broken. Use one on the PC itself, not a hub. hillbilly1703
Sorry Pete, yes FSX sees my controllers fine. I used a programme from Iobit to "clean" the registry, I wouldn't have a clue how to do it myself. I will do all you advise, thanks.
