Can't get Mouse Macro to work - NGX

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I can't get the mouse mapping utility to work in FSUIPC.  I have followed the instructions in Nigel Doyle's video.  I have started the 'Create Mouse Macro', given it a name, clicked OK twice, it has the taken me onto the cockpit of the NGX738, but when I click on a switch (e.g. turn FD off), the coloured bar and text does not appear at the top of the screen.  Each time I've gone back into FSUIPC to 'End Mouse macro' but no file has been created.  I've been trying on and off over the past few nights and it did work once and a file was created, but since then - nothing!

I'm running version 4.90 of FSUIPC.  I'm also using a Saitek X52 pro joystick and I've tried it with the SST software running and closed down, but no joy either way!

Help!

Regards,

Peter

Why do you want to use mouse macros for the NGX when they support assignable control numbers for pretty much every single switch?

Mouse macros will only work with gauges written strictly to the FS C/C++ gauge SDK. Very few cockpits for FSX are written this way in any case. If you don't get the window appearing it just means it can't be done with that switch or gauge.

I'm running version 4.90 of FSUIPC.

That's way out of date and I cannot support it in any case. The current version is 4.921 or later. Please update if you want further support.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your prompt reply - much appreciated.  I've now upgraded to version 4.921

What I'm trying to do is programme on a single joystick button the following NGX 738 commands:

Disengaged autopilot (Z)

Turn off the left Flight Director (CTRL + R)

Turn off the right Flight Director (I've assigned that to (CRTL + J)

Turn off the warning for A/P P-RST for the Capt (I've assigned CTRL + K) and FO (I've assigned CTRL + Q)

I would like to allocate the commands to one of the toggle switches on my X52 Pro joystick.

Is there any chance to could point me in the right direction as to where I should start?

Regards,

Peter

I don't have or use PMDG aircraft, but I'm sure all of those will be covered by PMDG's own control numbers. You do need your NGX fully updated, then you refer to a document in the NGX SDK which I don't recall the name of, but ends with filetype ".h" (which is a C/C++ header file). After the list of all the data it provides there's a list, by name, of all the controls. These are given as <some long name> + <a number>. To derive the actual control number find the number, at the start of that list, of the first part and add to it the number it shows to add.

Then just assign your buttons/switches in FSUIPC by selecting <custom control> and entering the number.

Some of those controls will need a parameter. On/off switches may need 1 for on, 0 for off, for instance. But I don't really know any more than that. Best for more help to go to the PMDG support forum -- or maybe first check in the assorted NGX threads in the User Contributions subforum here.

Regards

Pete
