Pete Dowson Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Okay, I checked, and, on the 737 at least, TCAS range is actually only about 40 nm. so i've reduced FSUIPC's traffic range from 200 km down to 100 km. I've also moved the initial request for Simconnect to supply AI data till AFTER the complete initialisation of everything else -- i.e. after the point where FSUIPC logs "Starting everything now ...". None of this had been necessary before -- you're the first to overload the system with AI! I can't think of anything else I can do really. Please try it, with all of the original traffic which caused the problem. Let me know if you still get all those "too many request errors", because i'm worried those will still occur even if they don't actually stop you getting the Lat/Lon. Link to interim update: FSUIPC 4.934g Regards Pete
FlyingBee Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 Pete, Here's an interesting finding. I cleared all AI to 0% density, using FSX.cfg Started FSX, closed it. The log was fine, as we've already found out. Then set 'Airport Scenery Density' to 5 (max), started FSX. In the Options/settings/display/traffic, this shows as Airport Vehicle Density - presume same thing. Closed FSX. the log is as below - shows all those 'too many requests' lines, even while all the remaining AI types were still at 0% ********* FSUIPC4, Version 4.934f by Pete Dowson ********* Reading FlyingBee Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 Sorry, didn't catch your previous post in time to take action, so I've now updated to the g version. I'll run FSX with only the airport vehicles, as they seem to be the culprits. Then with everything EXCEPT airport vehicles. Will let you know.
FlyingBee Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 So, with FSUIPC 4.934g installed, using FSX.cfg to set Airport Vehicle Density to max, all other AI 0%, ADEX shows Lat/Long zeros, and the log is full of 'Too Many Requests' Using FSX.cfg to set airport vehicle density to 0%, and all other AI types to 100%, ADEX works fine, and the log is 'normal', as below: ********* FSUIPC4, Version 4.934g by Pete Dowson ********* Reading options from "F:\FSX\Modules\FSUIPC4.ini" Running inside FSX on Windows 7 Module base=65580000 User Name="Brian King" User Addr="brianrhking@compuserve.com" FSUIPC4 Key is provided WIDEFS7 not user registered, or expired 47 System time = 03/07/2014 22:26:34 47 FLT path = "C:\Users\B\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\" 78 Trying to connect to SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 ... 78 FS path = "F:\FSX\" 561 LogOptions=00000800 00000011 561 SIM1 Frictions access gained 561 Wind smoothing fix is fully installed 561 G3D.DLL fix attempt installed ok 577 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 577 Trying to use SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 2371 Running in "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", Version: 10.0.61472.0 (SimConnect: 10.0.61259.0) 2371 Initialising SimConnect data requests now 2371 FSUIPC Menu entry added 2402 ## EV_SIM=stop 2402 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=N, In Menu=Y, In Dlg=Y 2402 C:\Users\B\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\Test.FLT 2402 F:\FSX\SimObjects\Rotorcraft\Bell206B\Bell_206B_JetRanger.AIR 2402 ##: ST_SIM=stop 2543 Memory in use: 416Mb, Avail=3679Mb 32838 ##: ST_SIM=stop 35818 ##: ST_SIM=stop 38688 ##: ST_SIM=stop 41200 ##: ST_SIM=stop 43789 ##: ST_SIM=stop 46394 ##: ST_SIM=stop 48969 ##: ST_SIM=stop 51480 ##: ST_SIM=stop 54522 ##: ST_SIM=stop 54772 ## EV_START 54772 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=N, In Menu=N, In Dlg=N 54772 ## EV_SIM=start 55037 ## WHYSTART: SOON: (0366=Y || (0264=N && 3365=Y)) && (3D00=N || (0580=Y && 0264=Y)) 55037 ## ... and no class #32770 window! 55037 System time = 03/07/2014 22:27:29, Simulator time = 22:26:36 (21:26Z) 55037 Aircraft="Bell 206B JetRanger Paint1" 56067 ## Starting everything now ... 56082 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=Y, In Menu=N, In Dlg=N 56223 Advanced Weather Interface Enabled 63180 Memory in use: 1311Mb, Avail=2785Mb 95410 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=Y, In Menu=Y, In Dlg=Y 95410 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 40 secs = 18.8 fps 95410 Average weather filter write interval in that time = 1153.1 msecs 100964 System time = 03/07/2014 22:28:15, Simulator time = 22:28:09 (21:28Z) 100964 *** FSUIPC log file being closed Average frame rate for running time of 40 secs = 18.8 fps Average weather filter write interval in that time = 1153.1 msecs G3D fix: Passes 18157, Null pointers 0, Bad pointers 0, Separate instances 0 Memory managed: 51 Allocs, 51 Freed ********* FSUIPC Log file closed *********** It seems that (a) airport vehicles are to blame, and (b) the g version has not changed that situation.
Pete Dowson Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Here's an interesting finding. Closed FSX. the log is as below - shows all those 'too many requests' lines, even while all the remaining AI types were still at 0% I'll have a more detailed look tomorrow, at different density settings. But it certainly seems as if it is upset by the airport traffic...ADEX is back to it's old fault, when airport traffic is the only AI active. Strange that there can be so many. I'll check my code again to see whether there's something wrong there. And I can confirm that DeleteVehiclesforAES =Yes Ooops! Apologies -- typo in the line "The airport traffic is filtered out in FSUIPC, and is only read (to see if it needs to delete duplicates for AES/GSX) if the parameter "DeleteVehiclesForAES" is set to "No"" It should (obviously?) read: "The airport traffic is filtered out in FSUIPC, and is only NOT read (to see if it needs to delete duplicates for AES/GSX) if the parameter "DeleteVehiclesForAES" is set to "No" So could you repeat but with 'No', please? So, with FSUIPC 4.934g installed, using FSX.cfg to set Airport Vehicle Density to max, all other AI 0%, ADEX shows Lat/Long zeros, and the log is full of 'Too Many Requests' Can you tell me if that log (or a repeat of that test) contains the line 56067 ## Starting everything now ... because if it does then maybe a delay before requesting data will help. If the message is not there at all then I'm puzzled , because the way it is coded in 'g' is not to request any AI data will after the point where that message should occur. It seems that (a) airport vehicles are to blame, and ( B) the g version has not changed that situation. I'll get back on this. May be tomorrow now though. BTW, I just checked. I have always run with Airport Scenery Density set to 5. Odd that I don't see the problems. Pete
Pete Dowson Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Please try FSUIPC 4.934h Throw all you can at it. I've changed the type of data request used for ground vehicle data to be once-only, rather than with updates every second, as I have to do with aircraft (so that they can be tracked). I'm hoping this will not adversely affect the facilities for deleting the vehicles when appropriate, But it should help with this problem. I think these "too many requests" errors arise because it has to put them into a table so it can do the updates every second. When it's a one-off it probably doesn't need tabulating. If this doesn't work I'm afraid the only answer is to turn the option off after all (i.e. DeleteVehiclesForAES=No). Pete
FlyingBee Posted July 4, 2014 Author Report Posted July 4, 2014 Pete, I'm afraid I've been keeping you up, burning the midnight, then the 2.33am, oil....so, as per your midnight post I changed the DeleteVehiclesForAES to NO. Did the usual test run with full AI, including the airport vehicles. Bingo, it works in ADEX, and the log seems OK: ********* FSUIPC4, Version 4.934g by Pete Dowson ********* Reading options from "F:\FSX\Modules\FSUIPC4.ini" Running inside FSX on Windows 7 Module base=633B0000 User Name="Brian King" User Addr="brianrhking@compuserve.com" FSUIPC4 Key is provided WIDEFS7 not user registered, or expired 94 System time = 04/07/2014 06:46:42 94 FLT path = "C:\Users\B\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\" 125 Trying to connect to SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 ... 140 FS path = "F:\FSX\" 842 LogOptions=00000800 00000011 842 SIM1 Frictions access gained 842 Wind smoothing fix is fully installed 842 G3D.DLL fix attempt installed ok 842 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 842 Trying to use SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 6256 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=N, In Menu=N, In Dlg=N 6271 Running in "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", Version: 10.0.61472.0 (SimConnect: 10.0.61259.0) 6271 Initialising SimConnect data requests now 6271 FSUIPC Menu entry added 6302 ## EV_SIM=stop 6302 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=N, In Menu=Y, In Dlg=Y 6302 C:\Users\B\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\Test.FLT 6302 F:\FSX\SimObjects\Rotorcraft\Bell206B\Bell_206B_JetRanger.AIR 6302 ##: ST_SIM=stop 6302 Memory in use: 395Mb, Avail=3701Mb 36801 ##: ST_SIM=stop 39811 ##: ST_SIM=stop 42775 ##: ST_SIM=stop 45771 ##: ST_SIM=stop 48532 ##: ST_SIM=stop 51075 ##: ST_SIM=stop 53617 ##: ST_SIM=stop 56160 ##: ST_SIM=stop 58719 ##: ST_SIM=stop 61355 ##: ST_SIM=stop 61667 ## EV_START 61667 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=N, In Menu=N, In Dlg=N 61667 ## EV_SIM=start 62806 ## WHYSTART: SOON: (0366=Y || (0264=N && 3365=Y)) && (3D00=N || (0580=Y && 0264=Y)) 62806 ## ... and no class #32770 window! 62806 System time = 04/07/2014 06:47:44, Simulator time = 06:46:49 (05:46Z) 62806 Aircraft="Bell 206B JetRanger Paint1" 63773 ## Starting everything now ... 63789 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=Y, In Menu=N, In Dlg=N 63945 Advanced Weather Interface Enabled 66893 Memory in use: 1335Mb, Avail=2760Mb 69748 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=Y, In Menu=Y, In Dlg=Y 73898 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=Y, In Menu=N, In Dlg=N 127234 Memory in use: 1407Mb, Avail=2689Mb 134036 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=Y, In Menu=Y, In Dlg=Y 134036 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 11.6 fps 134036 Average weather filter write interval in that time = 820.0 msecs 140323 System time = 04/07/2014 06:49:02, Simulator time = 06:48:54 (05:48Z) 140323 *** FSUIPC log file being closed Average frame rate for running time of 68 secs = 11.8 fps Average weather filter write interval in that time = 925.5 msecs G3D fix: Passes 19769, Null pointers 0, Bad pointers 0, Separate instances 0 Memory managed: 95 Allocs, 95 Freed ********* FSUIPC Log file closed *********** I will now try your version h, with the Delete Veh...=YES, and report back.
FlyingBee Posted July 4, 2014 Author Report Posted July 4, 2014 So, with version h, and DeleteVeh...=YES, and all AI at max, it works. I won't clutter the post with the log, but it's looking familiarly normal. Hope that the changes in version h are not problematic in any way. But it has certainly fixed the fault at this end.

Thanks for confirming. I'll need to do some checks here to make sure it hasn't messed up the vehicle deletion option. For stationary vehicles at your gate it should work okay. I only ask for details of vehicles within 50 metres of your aircraft in any case. The trouble is, and its the same with aircraft, you have to lodge a request for all "Add Object" events very early on, before the first flight is loaded, because the range-limited request, made later, only gives changes. If I don't ask for all object changes when very first starting I don't get those already there when you start your flight. And the "Add Object" events are not range limited, so it would get ground vehicles from all airports within the "reality bubble". I seem to remember it was one of the failings of this part of SimConnect which I reported and which MS agreed to fix "in a later version". Ha ha. What should happen is there should be no need for the initial Add Object event detection, only a complete set of information within the range specified when actually requested, and thereafter changes -- additions and removals. Regards Pete
Tom-D Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 I have learned a great deal about some of the internal workings of FSX (and P3D) from reading these posts. Thanks! (Enjoy your holiday, Pete.) TD
FlyingBee Posted July 4, 2014 Author Report Posted July 4, 2014 Pete, I have to admit that I had no idea what FSUIPC was up to, or at least how much it was an integral part of the successful interplay between various parts of the whole FS context. You can perhaps see, from my registered user-name ie the e-mail address I had when I first signed up with FSUIPC, how many years it must be! How long ago did Compuserve disappear? Trouble is, I'm not sure I can change the user name to my current e-mail address without my registration lapsing! Regards Brian
