I just purchased FSUIPC from Simmarket and installed it but I can't get the registration to work.

I entered my name, email address and registration number but when I got to FSUIPC it says it's not a registered copy.  The box at the right says to reinstall and register again.

I've done that four times now with no luck.

How do I get the program registered?

Hi Noel,

You must be making a mistake somewhere - you have to enter your details exactly how you registered it. The best thing to do is to log on to your simMarket account and copy and paste the registration details from your order; that way, if you are changing the capitalisation, or had an extra space or something, it'll get picked up.

Cheers and welcome to the forums!

Do you have more than one Sim it is installing into? e.g. FSX, FSX-SE, P3D? If so please re-download the Installer from the Download Links subforum and try again.

I only have 1 sim; Flight Simulator FSX.  It is installed on a dedicated SSD 'J:/Flight Simulator X'.  My OS is Windows 7 64bit

I don't have Prepare3D so when it asks where that is I abort that and go on to the registration.

The registration part of the install seems to go OK.  I enter the data and get the message, "Thank you.  Your registration has now been entered."  Then I press Confirm.

The following items are in the Modules Folder

FSUIPC Document Folder

FSUIPC4 Install.log

FSUIPC4.key

The key says:

[user]

Name=Noel Sivertson

Address=DELETED

FSUIPC=DELETED

Here are the contents of the install log.  You will note at the end it says :
Registration for FSUIPC4 was successful! (result code 00)

NEVER EVER post your email and associated Key openly!!! I may have to make that an unauthorised key now!

I don't have Prepare3D so when it asks where that is I abort that and go on to the registration.

If you don't have and never had P3D it wouldn't ask where it is! It looks like you installed it then deleted it without fully uninstalling it. You need to remove the Registry entry which says it is installed.  Look:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2

     Parameter"SetupPath"

... >>>  OK! FOUND Prepar3D v2!  <<< ...

     SetupPath=J:\Flight Simulator X

Since your KEY file was generated in any case, the more important file for me to see is thew run-time log -- the FSUIPC4.LOG file.  You could also send me your KEY file as an email attechment (ZIP it first or it won't get through). Send to petedowson@btconnect.com.

Sorry, I goofed on sending that information.

I have sent you the FSUIPC4.log but apparently it wouldn't send the zipped key.

I used regedit to find Lockheed Martin under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE but it's not there.  I have:

Khronos

Macromedia

Nothing that starts with 'L'

I then searched the entire registry for Prepar3Dv2 but came up empty.

My FSX installation is J:\Flight Simulator X on a dedicated SSD.  I searched the 'J' drive for Prepar3D v2 but nothing came up.

I never purchased nor installed Prepar3D.

Just rename the Key file to FSUIPC4key.txt or something then.

I used regedit to find Lockheed Martin under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE but it's not there.

If you are using a 64-bit Windows, since these programs are 32-bit, it "hides" these in a "WOW" section, so you need to go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2

I then searched the entire registry for Prepar3Dv2 but came up empty.

You need to leave the space in, i.e. Prepar3D v2. Or just search for Prepar3D. It must be there -- the FSUIPC installer doesn't invent lies about your system. it finds the SetupPath parameter in the key, pointing to J:\Flight Simulator X

I never purchased nor installed Prepar3D.

Well something you've installed has added that Registry entry, perhaps to allow something originally intended to be installed in P3D to be installed in your FSX? Those horrible migration tools also make a right mess of things, like this.

[LATER]

In your Modules folder you said you only had these entries:

FSUIPC Documents

FSUIPC4 Install.log

FSUIPC4.key

Were there no FSUIPC4.DLLFSUIPC4.INI or FSUIPC4.LOG files? Certainly FSUIPC4.DLL must be there? But if there is no INI and no run-time LOG files then that FSUIPC4 has NEVER been run. Are you sure there aren't two installations, and the Registry is pointing to a different one to the one you are running?

I found the problem. It's in the unique way I have my FSX installation set up. It's rather complicated and I sent Pete an e-mail explaining it. But it works now.

Please read my last message above in any case.

The fact that you have changed e-mail addresses doesn't matter. If you purchased a license for FSUIPC4 then it will remain valid and will work with your original details on both FSX DVD and FSX SE (and Prepar3D...)

Please make sure that you are entering your details exactly as per the original order - copy and paste from your simMarket order details if possible - and it will work.
