russellmcox Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 I purchased the following: 1 x PETE DOWSON - FSUIPC4 - Select Package: Single License - Sold by simFlight GmbH Did I get the Wide Client in this package? Here is the list of unzipped files I received: FSUIPC 4.939j Changes.pdf FSUIPC Registration Detail.txt FSUIPC4 Install Log FSUIPC4_Loader.dll Install FSUIPC4.exe Installing and Registering FSUIPC4.pdf Did I get the right files? I don't see an auto-installer.exe file as indicated in the FSUIPC Quick Start Tutorial So I executed FSUIPC4.exe It seemed to install. When I got to the registration screen, I was able to register FSUIPC, but not the Wide Client. When I started FSX, I selected the Beech King Air as suggested. When I click on Alt-Enter to get to Main FS Tool Bar Menu, I get no response. Any suggestions on what I may have done wrong?
Ian P Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 Hello Russell. Wideclient is a separate download, available from the "latest versions" sticky thread at the top of this forum. What I think you are referring to is WideFS (the server end), which is a separate purchase than FSUIPC and no, it is not included in the FSUIPC licence. Although WideFS Server is included in the FSUIPC DLL, it does a different job. Registered FSUIPC allows you to take deeper control over FS than is normally possible through the options provided, registered WideFS allows you to run certain "support applications" such as flight planners, moving maps, some autopilot consoles, for example, on a networked computer. http://secure.simmarket.com/pete-dowson-widefs7.phtml Alt-Enter is the command to switch from windowed to full screen mode of almost any Windows application - you should only be tapping "alt" in the sim to open the menu bar, after which you need to select the menu options using the keyboard or your mouse. Holding down alt will hide the menu bar when it is visible. Hope that helps. Ian P.
russellmcox Posted May 23, 2015 Author Report Posted May 23, 2015 Thank you for your reply... Apparently I only purchased the FSUIPC4 program. So, let's put WideFS aside for the moment. I don't see an auto-installer.exe file as indicated in the FSUIPC Quick Start Tutorial So I executed FSUIPC4.exe It seemed to install. When I started FSX, I selected the Beech King Air as suggested. When I click on "Alt" to get to Main FS Tool Bar Menu, I get no response. Any thoughts? Regards, Russell Cox
russellmcox Posted May 23, 2015 Author Report Posted May 23, 2015 Apparently I have installed it properly. I was following a document called FSUIPC - Quick Start Tutorial, which has some misleading instructions. There is no auto-installer.exe (any more?). And it definitely says to "Hit Alt+Enter", as opposed to just click ALT. And you need to have an aircraft selected and "Flying", hopefully standing on the runway. The first time I did it, the Beech King Air 350 was flying and descending, and I had no controls, nor did I recall the keyboard commands. So, I crashed along until I ended the flight and restarted it, somehow standing on the runway. I then clicked ALT and I got the menu bar. There is no Modules item to select, but Add Ons got me to the FSUIPC selection. So, the adventure continues... Regards, Russell Cox
Pete Dowson Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 I was following a document called FSUIPC - Quick Start Tutorial, which has some misleading instructions. Why? Why not use the Installation instructions included in the downloaded ZIP file? I have never published anything called a "quick start tutorial"! There is no auto-installer.exe (any more?). The installer is the program in the downloaded ZIP called "Install FSUIPC4.exe". Do you think this is a confusing name for it for some reason? There is no file called "FSUIPC4.exe" and there never has been! The installation instreuctions are short and easy. You just run the installer. There is no Modules item to select, but Add Ons got me to the FSUIPC selection. Where does any of the documentation mention a Modules item? In FSX and P3D it has ALWAYS been Add-ons and is documented as such. I think you must be referring to very old documents, and not the official ones supplied with FSUIPC. Please, try to learn to use FS before plunging in to us add-ons. And when using them., please refer to the supplied documents, not ones you might find elsewhere. Pete
