Dean Mountford
Hi Pete, I seem to be having installation issues with FSUIPC. I had FSX Acceleration and FSX Steam Edition installed in Side by Side mode, along with Prepar3d v2. (all for development purposes). I've since uninstalled FSX Acceleration and Prepar3d v2 as I'm re-working my FS drive and installed FSX:SE again to it. However before I re-installed FSX:SE I needed to remove all my FSX, FSX:SE and Prepar3d registry entries. I did a clean install of FSX:SE and then attempted to re-install FSUIPC and it comes up with a window saying: "FSX not found! Please locate and 'open' FSX.EXE:" I do that and then it throws up a warning saying: "WARNING: This installation attempt will proceed, but note that your FSX installation is not correctly Registered in Windows. This may well cause you problems!" And it appears it has... Registration for FSUIPC4 was successful! (result code 00) *************** End of Install Log *************** I noticed the first registry entry of: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 Parameter"SetupPath" ... >>> OK! FOUND FSX! <<< ... SetupPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX Is still pointing to the wrong directory. When I try to open up HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ I don't see the Microsoft Games folder or any other subfolders in it. I don't want to have to re-install windows and somehow the registry entries are being picked up by TweakFS and says they are pointing to the correct folders. I'm at a loss here, apart from doing a complete re-install of my operating system and that's a pain as I'm doing high level work on a new simulator at the moment. I don't know how FSUIPC can be picking up the registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 when that registry entry doesn't exist? Please any help would be appreciated.
Pete Dowson
I don't know how FSUIPC can be picking up the registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 when that registry entry doesn't exist? It must exist, but because I assume you are using a 64 bit version of Windows, it gets transmuted by the 32 bit interface FS uses into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 Best to user search facilities when using Regedit, else you can miss things you needed to delete. I suspect now that FSX-SE has installed as side-by-side even though you did not want it to. This can in fact be seen by the fact that both FSX and FSX-SE are found in the first pass of the Installer. It was only the fact that you'd deleted FSX which gave the the failure on that first part of the installation proper. You should have aborted the attempt to install for FSX and let it go through to the part for the side-by-side install for FSX-SE instead. BTW your subject says "Registration Issues", but I don't see those? Pete
