Pete Can you please help!

I purchased and registered copies of FSUIPC4 and WideFS 7 and installed them I have attached the log files.

The problem is it will not give me a position on OZ wunways. I have Oz runways on a Ipad 2 with built in GPS I disable location on Oz runways and put into simulator mode and start to fly but nothing happons.

I am also running MSFS-x on my Toshiba satellite laptop with windows 10 on a wireless network

I can not see any problems with the logs below except this error comes up

 143547 *** LUA Error: ...(x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSXOzplug.lua:39: malformed number near '192.168.0.3'

   143547 LUA.0: ended "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSXOzplug.lua"

It also seams to be looking for ESP and Prepar3D and Initial.LUA and not finding them. What am I missing.

Regards Darryl Robertson

Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.937

FSUIPC version 4.937 is no longer supported. Please update to 4.949.

I can not see any problems with the logs below except this error comes up

 143547 *** LUA Error: ...(x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSXOzplug.lua:39: malformed number near '192.168.0.3'

That error stops your "FSXOzplug" working. You'd need to correct it.

It also seams to be looking for ESP and Prepar3D and Initial.LUA and not finding them. What am I missing.

The installer for FSUIPC installs for all versions of FS (though ESP support is now removed and P3Dv3 support added) Why does that worry you?

As described in the WideFS documentation, WideClient (not FSUIPC) executes an "Initial.LUA" if it finds it. It logs it either way so you know. Why do you think you are missing anything? Logs are for information, not just error reports.

Hi Pete

Ok I have down loaded and installed FSUIPC version  4.949.  By way of fault finding I am interested to know if FSUIPC and Wide client have installed correctly if all the elements of your software have installed correctly then I will look else where. I am a newcomer to Flight simulator and I am not a programmer I am a professional pilot so I am trying to pick my way through this.

Oh dear. :-(

The ONLY problem you appear to have, according to your posts here, is with a Lua plug-in you are trying to use called "FSXOzplug.lua". That is not part of my product at all, and if you didn't write it then you must have obtained it somewhere. If you need help with that then you will probably need to go back to its source.

The plug-in is a text program which can be read and edited like any text program. You'll find it in the FS Modules folder, next to FSUIPC and its logs. It appears to contain a blatant syntax error. If you paste it into a message here I might be able to identify it and tell you how to fix it, but as it is not my program I cannot guarantee that.

Hi Pete

Thanks for your reply I understand it is not you product, so any help that you are able to give will be a step forward.I have attached the text from the two files FSXOzplug.lua and FSXOzplug.log I was not sure if the two programms were interfacing.

If so I can immediately see two errors. But it puzzles me why you ask me about another person's program when he gives his name and email there for you, i.e.

Jason Beringer jason.beringer@monash.edu

Has he deceased or in other ways become non-responsive?

Anyway:

-- Define IP and port
-- Enter the IP address of the IPad or Iphone that OzRunways is running on.
-- Port 49002 is UDP port that XPlane communicates on and OzRunways expects
host = host or "192.168.0.3"  -- USER EDIT THIS FOR YOUR IPDA/IPHONE RUNNING OZRUNWAYS
port = port or 49002

That is mostly an instruction for YOU to edit those two lines. They are not correct Lua statements. You need to put your host's name or IP address into the first line, as

host ="name"

or

host="ip address"

Where you replace ip address with the correct one. "192.168.0.3" is merely an example of an IP address. Is it the correct one? The author uses the word "host" as being the PC or iPad or whatever which is running whatever it is you are wanting this to talk to (OzRunways?)

The port line should probably just be

port=49002

I think he says "port or 49002" in case that port is already used by another program -- you'd need to change it at both ends if so..

The second problem is

[Auto]
1=Lua FSXOzplug

just before the final "end" line. That is not Lua. You already added those lines into the FSUIPC4.INI file. Why did you add them into the Lua file too? Delete them.

Hi Pete

Hi Pete

Thanks for your helpful comments

The "192.168.0.3" is  what  was added by me and is what I got from settings on the pad. the port could be the wrong one but I will have to do some research on how to fix that. in FSx there is a FSUIPC add on drop down menu and all these settings can be changed. there is another tab GPSout. changes in this drop down box seams to change the FSUIPC.ini I assume those settings are correct. just some back ground I started this project late last year and I did try to contact  Jason Beringer  first over the last  two mouths and had no reply (I know that's not your problem) I am trying to make scene of what does what. It does seam the problem is in communications between my PC running FSx and the Ipad running ozrunways Thanks again for you help i know it not your problem

host = host or "192.168.0.3"

is wrong. You only want

host = "192.168.0.3"

Similarly

port = port or 49002

should be

port = 49002

I did point this out before. You seem to have missed it?

in FSx there is a FSUIPC add on drop down menu and all these settings can be changed. there is another tab GPSout. changes in this drop down box seams to change the FSUIPC.ini I assume those settings are correct.

Well of course ALL settings made in FSUIPC change the INI file because that is where they are stored! But you aren't using GPSout! If you are going to use that you wouldn't be using the Lua plug-in! And GPSout won't send stuff to an iPad unless it is connected by serial port cable and configured with a GPS moving map application set to accept external NMEA data instead of using the internal GPS.

I am trying to make scene of what does what. It does seam the problem is in communications between my PC running FSx and the Ipad running ozrunways

That communication is handled entirely in that Lua plug-in, NOT in GPSout!  GPSout either sends data to WideClient running on another PC, or to a serial port. It cannot talk to an iPad over the Network, only via a serial port link!

   Hi Pete

I Know you must look forward to my messages every morning when you come into the office (not) sorry to be a pain.

I am taking on board what you are saying, I am also starting to understand the process a bit more. on talking to the ozrunways tech team they don't know why I am having so much trouble with it, they  say  down load register and install the software and make the changes as per there instructions and it runs with out any trouble. so I am not sure why mine is so different I think it time to give up on this project. Thanks for your time and help i know it is not your problem.

The following errors show the two files are missing have hot shown up before is that any thing to do with it

91485 Starting everything now ...

    91531 Error 126 (The specified module could not be found. ) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\PFCFSX.DLL"

    91531 Error 126 (The specified module could not be found. ) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\EPICINFO5.DLL"

Thanks again

kind regards

Did you not try again with those two lines corrected? If so, what is the problem now?

They're just for information in case you are using either of these additional drivers.
