DavyC Posted March 29, 2016 Report Posted March 29, 2016 Hi I have just installed PMDG 737NGX and FS2Crew I am having the following issue. I have done a few 4+ hour flights Heathrow to Larnaca. All goes well until I start the descent phase. When I start using my headset the sim freezes for about 2-3 seconds and runs for 2-3 seconds - this gets slightly better but unworkable. I close the flight sim and restart from an autosave and no issues. Here is the strange bit FSUIPC disappears from the add-on menu and the auto saves stop as soon as this starts. I have checked all the sound drivers and USB drivers (USB headset) and they all seem up to date. I had similar issues with sound in the PMDG 777 however when I changed the sound set in the 777 control panel it improved dramatically but did not take it away completely. P3D V3 Windows 10 - I strongly suspect is the culprit FSUIPC latest version I think 'k' I have all SDK's loaded and re-installed the P3D V3.2 SDK to be sure to be sure Re-intsalled P3D PMDG FS2Crew - FSUIPC Is this the USB ports going to sleep - I do not know how to check but the headset will work. Sounds seem a little funny, eg the engine sound dims or fluctuates more than at the start of the flight. There seems to be nothing strange in the FSUIPC log - currently trying another flight and will check log when it happens again. I only post here due to FSUIPC dropping off - when this happens - hoping that somebody could point me in the right direction. Thanks Davy C
alaxus Posted March 30, 2016 Report Posted March 30, 2016 There was someone on the P3D forums who had pausing issues after a 5 hour flight. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=117837 Might be unrelated. My take is that the system is running out of memory.

I don't know how their could be any connection to sound (unless you have sound driver problems), but it may be that all these things are symptoms of the same problem. It sounds like one of overloading, or as alaxus said, memory getting tight. It's odd that there's nothing logged by FSUIPC when the menu entry disappears -- that's always a sign that things are overloaded to such an extent that SimConnect data isn't reaching FSUIPC in an acceptable time. FSUIPC disconnects and reconnects to try to fix this and that action should be getting logged. You can extend that time limit using an INI file option (see the Advanced User's Guide), but in general that's a bad solution which doesn't help in the long run. If you are using a complex add-on aircraft and using AutoSaves then try switching AutoSave off -- aircraft like the PMDG 737 and 777 do freeze the sim for a while whilst collecting their data for saving.
