After getting a new PC I have converted from FSX to P3D and am in the process of setting up everything up however I am having problems with FSUIPC4. I purchased the registered version and all downloaded okay and I then try and register which also appears to work. The files appear in the P3D/Modules folder but when I start the sim it doesn't appear under 'Add Ons'. I have had a look at the log and at the bottom it says 'Registration of FSUIPC4 was cancelled or failed - Result code 10'. I have tried re-registering and is appears to go through ok but still nothing in the sim. Before registering the product I did have the unregistered version appearing under 'add ons'. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

This seems to be a common misunderstanding. There's no difference whatsoever between "registered version" and "unregistered". All registration does is unlock features in FSUIPC's user interface, the interface you see in Add-Ons FSUIPC menu entry. So the registration or otherwise doesn't affect it loading and initialising the Add-Ons entry at all.

If the FSUIPC entry does not appear in Add-Ons then FSUIPC is probably not being loaded. But please, next time, check the Modules folder in P3D and see if there is a log file ("FSUIPC4.LOG") being produced each time you load P3D. If so, FSUIPC4 is being loaded but is not connecting to SimConnect properly. In this case I seed to see that Log file please -- paste it here.

If FSUIPC4 is not being loaded there is a different problem -- probably your DLL.XML file is corrupt. Go to your AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3 folder and find it there. Show me that, or test by renaming that file and re-running the FSUIPC4 installer so it creates a fresh DLL.XML.

If you have difficulty finding these things, show me the Install log and I can direct you.

Hi Pete

Many thanks for the reply. Strangely when I look in the modules folder there is a folder called FSUIPC Documents which is empty and that's it however upon installation the log says at the bottom that it has been successfully loaded into the modules folder. I took a look at the DML.XML and renamed it DML2 and tried a reinstallation but it didn't appear to create a fresh DLL file and the folder still only shows the renamed DLL2.

As always your help is very much appreciated

Kind regards

Show me the Installer log, as I already asked. I cannot help without information. The log is made just to help answer these questions!

Hi Pete Apologies

Following me renaming the DSL file the next attempt to install showed the following:

Now checking DLL.XML ...
... No previous DLL.XML found, creating new one (for FSUIPC4 only).
Now checking for a SimConnect.XML file ...
... No SimConnect.XML file found. This is okay.
Looking in "C:\Users\Public\AppData\Roaming"
 ... No Prepar3D.CFG there
"Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder already exists.
Now installing the Prepar3D SimConnect interface for FSUIPC4 into the "Modules" folder:
   Installed "SimConnectP3D3.dll" okay
Now installing additional files into the "Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder:
   Installed "FSUIPC4 User Guide.pdf" okay
Installed "FSUIPC4 for Advanced Users.pdf" okay

DSL file? Do you mean the DLL.XML file?

You've only pasted a small section of the Installer Log. All the important information about locations etc is omitted! Please only ever paste complete logs. There's lots of information there which will help.

The files are evdently installed correctly, as shown in your log fragment, so if you don't see them you are looking in the wrong place. With the complete log I can tell you exactly where everything is!

This is where your P3D is. Right? This is where your DLL.XML file is:

But the install log isn't finished. you end with:

 Installed "FSUIPC4_Loader.dll" okay

but the log should terminate properly, in some way similar to this:

===========================================================

All installer tasks completed.
Registration dialog 'not now' selected
*************** End of Install Log ***************

So, please describe what happens to make the installer fail early. What exactly happens?

And where are you actually looking to find the documentation? It has most certainly been placed into
C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Modules\FSUIPC Documents

Hi Pete

Quick update: Yes you are correct, My P3D is located in SetupPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\ and the DLL file (as well as the DLL2 that I created as per our test earlier) are found in C:\Users\Matthew Ralph\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\.

There were no files in the modules folder yesterday so I obtained the log by trying to re-install and copying straight from the log upon install. However taking a look today this does appear to have installed FSUIPC into P3D, the files do now appear in the 'FSUIPC Install' text doc (shown below). I did enter the registration details when downloading FSUIPC on this occasion but the options in the program still appear to be locked.

The Registration details are entered in the installer window when prompted, not during download. If your registration isn't accepted then either the date in your PC is wrong, pre-dating your FSUIPC purchase, or you are making an error when entering the details. All three parts -- name, email and key MUST be exactly as written.

If you think you've done things correctly, please close P3D and find the FSUIPC4.LOG file, also in the Modules folder, and show me that, complete. That file is the run-time record of FSUIPC running.

Hi Pete have checked the date on the PC and ensured that all 3 parts of the registration are an exact match when prompted on install (which is what I meant rather than download) and all are definitely okay. Log file below for you:

You certainly must be doing something wrong. I'll check it for you. Please find the FSUIPC4.KEY file in the Modules folder, make a copy renamed as FSUIPC4.TXT then ZIP it and send it to me at petedowson@btconnect.com. Do NOT publish it on the Forum.

If there's no FSUIPC4.KEY file then  you've never actually entered a registration in the Installer. Just run it again and do it correctly.
