Have paid for FSUIPC5 but won't show registered

Recommended Posts

Hi Pete.  I have been reading the forums and haven't found a problem like this.  I have paid for FSUIPC5.  I have P3Dv4.1 installed and have been playing it.  I install the downloaded exe file as administrator.  I enter my registration info and Key exactly as show on my order confirmation.  A box pops up that says registration accepted then offers a flickable box to confirm.  I do that and both boxes immediately disappear. When I go to P3D and select the FUSIPC add on its says I'm not registered.  It says I need to do the registration at install.  I have gone to my modules folder and there is lots in there.  I will copy and paste every thing below.   I have repeated this process about a dozen times.  I use to be a P3Dv3 user with FSUIPC4.  Could that be causing some kind of conflict?

The above is very strange. It says the folder was created okay, but then none of the files can be installed! That makes no sense. Access cannot be denied to a folder the same program just created! I've never seen anything quite so strange.

Can you tell me exactly what files are there, in the P3D Modules folder? And in the subfolder FSUIPC Documents? (The Modules folder is E:\P3Dv4\Modules)

BTW, when did you download 5.122. The package was replaced once because of a corrupted upload.  Just in case you could try downloading it again. Please be sure to clear your cache first (F5 I think). And try installing first without registering, so we can see if all the files are correctly installed.

I sniped the modules folder and attached it.  There is nothing in documents folder.

As the log indicated. For some reason the installer was denied access to the folder it created, which is really weird.  And the other files are correct, though therre's no KEY file, which is why it shows as unregistered.

Let me know after you've re-downloaded and re-run the Installer. Once that looks good we'll investigate the Registration problem. Currently I'm still thinking it was a bad download.

Pete.  I downloaded from both SimMarket and The Official Peter page.  I ran them both as administrator.  I didn't try to register.  I ran the sim for a while.  The FSUIPC Documents folder is empty.  Here's the Install Log.  I'm also willing to share my computer with you.  It's strictly for gaming.  I have teamviewer.  Let me know.

Still the same failure -- access denied on a folder it created? It makes no sense at all.

Try deleting the entire Modules folder, including the FSUIPC Documents subfolder, and installing again.

I tried it.  Same things is happening.

Something is really wrong, but it must be with Windows, not P3D, because P3D itself has nothing to do with the Installer program getting access refused on a folder it just created.

But please, you should show me the Installer log file from the attempt you just did, the first after deleting the Modules folder completely. IO ask this because looking back, the first Install log you posted showed :

Prepar3D v4 Modules Modules folder already exists.
followed later by:

"Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder created okay!

Now, if an FSUIPC Installer had already created the modules folder and installed the documents, the FSUIPC Documents folder would also already exist, yet it says it is being newly created.

And the second log shows exactly the same!

Having deleted both folders before the last instasll test, what does the log show as a result?

So, do you perhaps have some sort of anti-virus checker running which somehow has determined that something about what is being installed is not trustworthy? If you have it might be worth trying to suspend it or stop it for another test of installing.

I really cannot think of anything other than the blocks such checkers put on things which could give such completely illogical results like this.

Ok I deleted the module folder again.  I reinstalled from the Pete Dowson official site.  I have not run the sim.  This is my first go at this today.  I have disabled my anti-virus.  Here is the install log.  There is nothing in the FSUIPC Docs folder.  There are only 3 files in the modules.  The Docs folder, install.log and FSUIPC.DLL

"Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder created okay!
Now installing additional files into the "Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder:
Failed to install "FSUIPC5 User Guide.pdf"
Error 5 reported ("Access is denied. ")

Still exactly the same! Why did you just do exactly the same thing again without reading and dealing with what i said last?

There is no reason EVER that Windows can or should deny access to a folder just created by the program which wants to access it!

Something else is interfering. Can you please read my previous message?

Pete I'm not a programmer.  I am struggling to follow your messages.  I'm doing the best I can here.  I don't understand what you want me to do.  I'm willing to let you take control of my PC if you like.  I'm here all day.  If not then please outline simply and clearly what you want me to do step by step.  Thanks.  I really want to get this running because I was asked to test for Captain Sim.

Which part? Why not ask questions then? You last message seemed to simply ignore the one I sent before!

It is nothing whatsoever to do with programming. You are a computer user. You even fly a flight simulator on a computer! That is enough qualification to understand what is meant by terms like"virus checker", surely?  And you obviously did not read the part where I asked for the log from your previous deletion and re-install attempt, so why post something completely ignoring all that?

Let's start from basics. Have you ANYTHING at all installed on your PC other than Windows and the Flight Sim? Is it a pure pristine PC as delivered, with no changes? If you are "not a programmer" and understand nothing at all, then I assume you've never done anything with it .. right or wrong?

What has "Captain Sim" got to do with it? And as someone who knows so little, how come you are testing for anyone?

Sorry, rather than reacting so furiously you really do need to do more to help. Your logs are unique and make no sense at all. Me accessing your PC is not going to happen. I don't do that and don't want folks doing it to mine either. So, unless we can move forward with more cooperation and more information, this is going nowhere.

I noticed my windows was not updated.  I completed the update, deleted the P3Dv4.1 client, reinstalled it along with the FSUIPC5 and it's fine now.

Good. I thought it must be something to do with Windows or another low level activity like anti-virus, because the symptoms were simply not logical.
