rojo2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Report Posted January 18, 2021 I am having a problem getting FSUIPC7 to run. I am using Windows 10 Pro 64bit and the Steam edition of Flight Simulator X. I attach the log below. I am using an Eclipse Yoke/pedals and previously tried their (CH) software but uninstalled it before also uninstalling FSUIPC7 to start again. I was getting the error message regarding the RUNTIME error so I tried sorting out the MS Basic C++ Redistributable packages. Uninstalled the 2015 and 2017 versions. Each time I installed 2015 with success it disappeared from the Programmes list when I installed 2017! In the end I installed 2019 anyway as instructed. I have reinstalled FSUIPC7 (I did not try to re-register as I have done that previously – correct?) It installed but will not run. I don’t get the RUNTIME message now but the following happens - If I click on the desktop icon I get a message --- cannot find shell: Apps Folder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App If I go to the file manager C: FSUIPC7.exe and double click I get a message FSUIPC7 is already running. If I stop this in the task manager I get a splash screen as if it is opening but it doesn’t. Can you help? I hope I've given you all you need. You should uninstall all 2015, 2017 and 2019 versions (any installed), and then install the combined versions (both x86 and x64) from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads However, as I said, FSUIPC7 is for MSFS only.
rojo2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Author Report Posted January 19, 2021 Are you able to help me sort this, please. I thought I'd been careful in deciding which version. The summary of your software probably seems very straightforward to you but my logic took me to vers 7. If MSFS had 2020 after it I might have thought twice, but saw it as a new all singing all dancing version that was backward compatible. I was looking for 64bit as my machine is that, so I didn't use vers 4 because of the 32bit label. I am a pilot not a software guy, so, sorry, I got it wrong. I don't suppose the key will work with version 4. Are you able to cancel the key I have and replace it? Again, sorry, my mistake. You may wonder why I'm not using 2020 but FSX is good enough for IR flying and tweaking the settings is even more important for the flying I want to do. Hope you can help.

We do not perform on-line license validation and so once a key has been purchased/issued it cannot be cancelled. The SimMarket pages state quite clearly that MSFS PC version (not xbox) is required for FSUIPC7, and FSX (or P3D1.4-3) for FSUIPC4. And you should have also downloaded and tried the free version before purchase. So I'm sorry you have purchased the wrong version, but you will have a license for the future if/when you decide to update to MSFS. You are about the third person to do this now. I think its pretty obvious which version this is for, but I will update the sales page to explicitly state that it is not valid for FSX/FSX-SE. John
rojo2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Author Report Posted January 19, 2021 I am flabbergasted at your response. Nothing anywhere states anything 'quite clearly' anything about what is what. You admit that I'm not the first person to make this innocent mistake and yet are happy to refuse to make a straightforward adjustment. Nasty practice. It'll catch up with you.
John Dowson Posted January 19, 2021 Report Posted January 19, 2021 I'm sorry you feel that way. People make mistakes. Whatever text I put up, people will still make mistakes. I do what I can to prevent this. There is no "nasty practice".
