Wide Client and Wide Server find eachother but not P3D

Recommended Posts

Hi Pete,

From one day to another, i can only guess after a windows update in the background my client PC's connect fine to the server PC running PD3 V5.3 but nothing happens and P3D just sits there with the text line Waiting for Clients.

as you can see form the log files the actual connection to the pc running P3D (Sim2017) is ok, but P3D is not picked up.

I also have a new Vodafone router and having spoken to their support team they assure me nothing is being filtered or blocked from their side...

Any idea what could be happening here? things used to be so simple back in the Win98 days...

Cheers

Peter

Hi Pete,

Pete retired a few several years ago, although he does help out still on occasion.

Please note that f you have problems with your WideClient connection to WideServer/FSUIPC, I always need to see four files, preferably with their original names (i.e. not renamed): WideClient.log, WideClient.ini, WideServer.log & FSUIPC?.ini. It is also useful/helpful to know what version of FSUIPC you are using...as you are using P3Dv5, it must be either FSUIPC5 or FSUIPC6.

Your WideClient.log says it is version 6.999z4, so its WideFS6 (32bit) but I am not sure what that version is (before my time I'm afraid). I guess you are using that as your client machine is 32bit (Windows 7?), no?

Anyway, if it was previously connecting ok and no longer is, it must be due to a change in your network. Consult the provided documentation - it will either be related to a workgroup name update/change, or a firewall - either on the client or server machines. Test with both firewalls disabled, and if it connects ok then, start one at a time to see which one is blocking the connection.

Goes to show how active i am these days..:-)

Anyway the culprit was or must have been a windows update that for some reason "unshared" my main P3D folder... once I shared it again all was fine and the various clients connected straight away.

Now on to the next problem as i also made bad mistake to update all Project Magenta applications and overwrite PMsystem without a backup and now cant get the flaps to extend at all...

Ok, thanks for the update.

Argh! You should get into the habit of making backups before major updates, just in case...can save a lot of time....!

Good luck!
