neuman5022 Posted June 7 Report Posted June 7 Hi, Loading MSFS gave me a message there is new version. Downloaded it and tried to install after quitting MSFS. Installer runs a bit but then stops. Deleted all previous versions - no joy. restarted PC, the same. Checked there is no FSUIPC on my machine at all, and also nothing on task manager... Any ideas ? Cheers Isaac

Or are you saying that it runs the uninstaller, to uninstall the previous version, and then stops? If so, it sounds like it is crashing for some reason. Can you check both the windows Event Viewer for any crash reports (under Windows Logs -> Application), and also check any anti-virus software that could be blocking the installer. What folder are you trying to install into (or where was your previous version installed)? Have you extracted the installer from the zip file? John
neuman5022 Posted June 7 Author Report Posted June 7 Hi - thanks for your prompt reply. When trying to run the installer -the blue wheel runs a bit (I imagine it wants to run) however nothing happens. Like always i download to my downloads folder, extract it there and run the installer. My AV (ESET) was running like always - never had an issue with it and FSUIPC On the event viewer it says something like Log Name: Application Source: Microsoft-Windows-Security-SPP Date: 6/7/2024 7:32:18 PM Event ID: 16394 Task Category: None Level: Information Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: PCS5219 Description: Offline downlevel migration succeeded. Do you not see any errors, or anything relating to the FSUIPC installer? Did you check your AV? Please do that. So you don't see anything when you run the installer? The first thing that should happen is that windows UAC should ask permission to run the installer - do you see that? Anything else?
neuman5022 Posted June 7 Author Report Posted June 7 Hi Disabled my AV real-time file protection and tried - no joy. Nothing showing on event viewer regarding FSUIPC. I do not see anything after trying to install - the blue wheel rotates for a second or two and then nothing happens at all. Looks like it wants to do something but there is some other thing preventing it from it. If there is still a version running (cannot see any) where should I look at it ? I usually install where the installer wants me to. It says on your PDF the installer will not run if there is already FSUIPC running - I cannot see anything running but perhaps there is something running somewhere which I cannot see... Does it have anything to do with registry ?

If it is running, you will see a message box to that effect. 21 minutes ago, neuman5022 said: Does it have anything to do with registry ? No - it isn't getting that far. But the first time you ran it, it uninstalled your current version, no? So you must have seen something. When you did this, did you give the UAC panel permission to run the installer? Seems like there is a windows issue where the UAC permissions isn't being displayed to run the installer. No idea why this is. Can you right-click the installer and go into the Properties and check the settings there. If you can't see anything, can you show me a screen-shot of the Security tab, and maybe also Compatibility and General tabs. I'm away for a couple of hours now, I will check later today. Maybe also try googling as to why a UAC permissions panel fails to display. Do you have an account that can be elevated to admin privileges? Edited June 7 by John Dowson Further info added
neuman5022 Posted June 7 Author Report Posted June 7 Problem SOLVED ! Running the installer file properties (right-click) at the bottom under attributes there was a line saying " "This file came from another computer and might be blocked" I clicked on the box there to unblock it and voila - everything worked perfectly as usual. Never happened to me before. Thank you very much for the time you took to assist me - very much appreciated.
Daveo Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 FWIW I was getting this Trojan:Win32/Phonzy.A!ml detection from the latest Windows Defender update for 7.4.13. Just added the Zip file as an exclusion and it installed ok.

That is strange - I don't get that here. If Windows Defender reports an error, I would normally report this, but as I don't get this at the moment (and I am up-to-date), maybe you can report this here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission/ John
