Mugz Posted July 27, 2024 Report Posted July 27, 2024 Is there any way to disable the pop-up FSUIPC window when the new version arrives? Alternate variants: 1. Do not notify if any updates 2. Notify through windows notify system, or small toolbar tooltip 3. New dialog window with buttons: Update and Do not notify this version

Yes - see the ini parameter OpenOnStart: Quote OpenOnStart=No: setting this to Yes will cause the FSUIPC7 main window to open on start-up. This option can be controlled via the Options->Open on Start menu item. Note that FSUIPC7 will still open on start-up when a new version is available for download (indicated by a message in the FSUIPC7 main window) even when this is set to No. To prevent this, you can set this option to Never.
Mugz Posted August 5 Author Report Posted August 5 I have 7.5.3 version installed. In FSUIPC.ini in General i have an option OpenOnStart=Never And now every time i get window popup "NEW VERSION IS AVAILABLE!"
John Dowson Posted August 5 Report Posted August 5 Yes - that option prevents the FSUIPC main window opening, even when there is a new version, but you will still see the pop-up if a new version is available. Or how else will you know that one is available? I am very reluctant to disable this...eventually you will give in and update to the new version, hopefully... John
Mugz Posted Thursday at 08:36 AM Author Report Posted Thursday at 08:36 AM I need to disable this because FSUIPC won't run without user confirmation. For the new version, I can check the site if I want a new version.

John It would be great if you could give us an option to disable update checking and notification about available updates (let it be enabled by default, but just option to disable it)
John Dowson Posted Friday at 10:07 AM Report Posted Friday at 10:07 AM As I have said, I would like people to upgrade when a new version is available. You should download when you see the pop-up message, and then install once you have finished the flight session, or before you start the next session. Installation of a new version takes less than a minute and should not give any issues. If you do not update to the latest version, your version of FSUIPC is no longer supported. I also release beta versions for any important changes that could cause issues, so if there are any issues, most are fixed before release. However, i cannot check everything here - for example, I have no PFC devices, there are many add-ons that use FSUIPC that I don't have, etc. So if there are any issues with a release, I would like to pick these up (and fix them) asap, not when someone has found an issue after upgrading from a version that is 5 or 6 versions old. I may consider adding an option to completely disable new version notification. However, if i do this, it will be under the condition that you no longer require support if using this option. I am closing this thread now as I have nothing further to say on this issue. John
