jdriskell Posted Friday at 12:02 AM Report Posted Friday at 12:02 AM I'm a long time FSUIPC user and have been very satisfied with its use in MSFS2020. I'm now starting to transition for MSFS2024. I've built blank configurations for my CH Yoke, Quad and Peddles. Many of the underlying FSUIPC assignments work but I'm having problems assigning views to the various buttons that I've always used. In some cases, the view buttons assigned under FSUIPC work but others don't. I've assigned some of the non-working previously assigned FSUIPC buttons directly under MSFS2024 control configuration. I'd like to hear of others experiences using FSUIPC in MSFS2024. Any hints or ideas will be appreciated. Thank, Jim Driskell
John Dowson Posted Friday at 09:29 AM Report Posted Friday at 09:29 AM View control has always been difficult in MSFS2020/2024 as the default view controls don't seem to work. I have my hat switches assigned to the default keystrokes to control the view (pan, eyepont and quick-view) which works ok in MSFS2020, but in MSFS2024 they only seem to control the panning and not the eyepoint or quick view controls. No idea why. I will look into this further in MSFS2024 when I get a chance. John
John Dowson Posted Friday at 11:28 AM Report Posted Friday at 11:28 AM I have looked into this further and it looks like the default keys to change the views have changed. By default: - quickview left/right are now on shift + h/f and no default for up/down (MSFS2020 uses LCtrl + Up/Down/Left/Right) - look on shift + k/l/j/i (MSFS2020 uses LShift + Up/Down/Left/Right) - translate on shift + s/w/a/d (MSFS2020 uses Up/Down/Left/Right) So, to use the same keys as MSFS2020, you would need to map the keyboard controls to use the same keys as MSFS2020. Alternatively, you would need a separate installation for MSFS2024 and map the hat buttons to the default keys to control the views in MSFS2024. Using the view controls directly still doesn't work.
jdriskell Posted Friday at 05:07 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 05:07 PM I agree that view control has problems. FSUIPC controls some of the buttons some of the time but the assignments aren't consistent. I was initially using an old list of key assignments that turned out to be from MSFS2020. I'm now using the MSFS2024 key assignments which work sometimes. I think I'll try to map the essential buttons directly thru MSFS2024 into a blank configuration. I don't know why the developers decided to completely revise the key assignments. I'm a great believer in the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I'll let you know what I find. Jim
jdriskell Posted Friday at 07:12 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 07:12 PM So I fell back to the 2020 keyboard layout in the controls section. Everything works the way I had set it up in MSFS2020 except for various instrument views where I'm using ctl+shift+ what ever number I need. The rest of the assignments and axes are being managed thru FSUIPC. I'll work with this for a while. Jim
