  1. This is bad  and good news!!

Bad, cause I would miss you very  very much Pete, It was great "talking" and developing over the past 12 years with you. I hope you will stay here in the forum.

Good, cause the brilliant tool FSUIPC stays in Dawson family hands. John, welcome again from my side.

BTW.: 2 years ago I intended to ask you Pete, who will be your follower? But I didn't dare. Now I got the answer!!

    Best regards,

    Alhard (13 years FSUIPC user)

  2. Hi Pete, as I am the moderator and group leader of about 8 simulator pilots, we have joint meetings every 4 weeks on two simulators at my home for 8 hours, and also intermediate meetings.

For preparation and during my sessions, I configure the flights for new actions on different airplanes, different weather conditions, different airfields.

Therefore the FSUIPC calibration and configuration could change very often.

I am using profiles from begin on, as we fly gliders, single propeller, twin propeller, commercial airliners (A320), helicopters, etc.

Beside the profiles, I store the configurations in different FSUPC-xxxx.INI files.

Now , since I connected  the additional microcontroller box (Arcaze USB) , I have this jitter problem with "ignore axis" solution .

And, sometimes the (e.g.:) ailerons don't work, due to jitter of other axis !

    Please help.

  3. Hi Pete, I did not assign any of these "open" axis. What troubles me is the following:

When I start my flight and want to change e.g. the calibration of one of my assigned axis, I CAN NOT , due to jittering continuously one of these "open" axis.

An access to the correct axis is not possible, as long as I do not click on "ignore axis".

The reason for having "open" axis is that some  of  the input sensors of my micro controller is OPEN. No hardware connected.

Does it make sense to send you the log file?

  4. This is very good information and advise. Thanks.

Now I know better what happens. I pressed the key for New_View and I found the corresponding control 65825 (see below).

                249835 LogOptions changed, now 60000000 0000001D
                 249991 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=Y, In Menu=N, In Dlg=N
                 251489 KEYDOWN: VK=219, Waiting=0, Repeat=N, Shifts=0
251489 .. Key not programmed -- passed on to FS
                 251489 *** EVENT: Cntrl= 65825 (0x00010121), Param= 0 (0x00000000) NEW_VIEW
                251785 KEYUP: VK=219, Waiting=0
                255373 Memory in use: 2542Mb, Avail=1554Mb, MaxFreeBlock=1448Mb

I will continue my investigations and report in case of a solution  😀

  5. Thanks Pete, this is not good news.

But there is still open  my question before

    Quote

New_View", "View", "View_Mode"  and I never know, do I need parameters and which one. I tested these function without a result.

Is there a document which describes the usage of these controls related to the FSX or P3D functions?

    E. g. : how is the usage of  IPC. Control (65825),   the   New View control. What parameter? I do not understand. Sorry.

I now experiment in panel.cfg  and  aircraft.cfg, with  the camera and window segment.

  6. Hi Pete,

I need for a button a FSX&P3D control for the  function "New View" e.g. "Overhead Panel".

I was looking around and only found in the FSX&P3D controls list some of this:

"New_View", "View", "View_Mode"  and I never know, do I need parameters and which one. I tested these function without a result.

Is there a document which describes the usage of these controls related to the FSX or P3D functions?

    thanks in advance

------- Clarification of my question ------

    from FSX Help Information:

There are SIX MAIN VIEWS (S).  Each has a subset reachable by pressing A.

You can see all of them by pulling down the Views menu and choosing View Mode.

You can open any of them in a new window by pulling down that Views menu and choosing New View.

I want to assign  a controller button to this function " selecting New View and selecting OVERHEAD view"  in a new window.

    ------ I hope this helps -----

Well, you could try assigning such a keypress, but the sim uses ALT to display its Menu bar. You could try though. You might be able to assign to 'null' (code 0) with the ALT and TAB as shifts. An assignment to:

    K0,20

See the Button Programming section of the Advanced User's guide. There's a table of keycodes and a list of shifts there. 0 is the keycode for "null" (i.e. do nothing) whilst 20 is 16 (for ALT) plus 4 (for TAB).

I did it and it works well.

But as I want to switch to a specific application, ALT-TAB is unfortunately toggling through the already started tasks.

Especially the WideClient window opens as well, which I do not want to see during my task switches.

The other possibility would be to use the EXT library in WideClient's Lua facilities. you'd need a WideFS licence, and you'd need to ryun WideClient on the same PC with "classInstance=1" inits INI file. The EXT library has facilities to set focus on oher programs.

    I will test it now with   --- = EXT.RUN ("pathname", EXT_MIN") ---

Mostly it is easier to use the mouse.

Using the mouse is more cumbersome than to press a button on the flight stick.  😀

  8. Hi Pete, I have a mysterious phenomena with WideFS v7.151.

I start FSX and assign a button to a function , see attachment "Joy# ProblemP1". Then I start WideFS and try to assign another button, then the button ID# has changed, see attachment "Joy# ProblemP2".

What happens here and what means  "Button Thread Started" in the LOG , see attachment "WideClient.log"  ??

It runs days before. Do you need more information?

Edit: I forgot to send my WideClient.ini, see attachment.

  9. Pete, this is my logging in FSUIPC. Lua is not activated.

and this is my FSUIPC INI file.

And why is it worrying you so? Haven't you finished debugging your Lua now?

Yes I have luckily finished. But as I am IT man by earlier profession, I am interested in all  interrelationships in my SIMs and AddOns.

It is supplied in the FSUIPC Documents folder (in the Lua examples ZIP) but it isn't needed. Which logging option are you selecting? The simple Trace option for Lua doesn't need that file anyway. -- it used to and there is still an option to use it.

Pete, I think you misunderstood. I know what and where ipcDebug.lua is. My question is , why comes this error message " cannot open " in the Lua Log ? Ther is no ipcDebug.lua in my FSX modules folder.

    Alhard

  11. HURRAH ! All function are now working, e.g. MAXIMIZE (ext.state(myHandle,EXT_MAX))  AND send keys (elseif ipcPARAM == 4 then KeyOk = ext.sendkeys(myHandle,77,3)).

I used now your new version ***** LUA: "ahFC_ControlV4PD" Log [from FSUIPC version 4.974b] *********

    Great job, Pete.

Still unclear :  *** LUA Error: cannot open Z:\FSX\Modules\ipcDebug.lua: No such file or directory

Who calls ipcDebug.lua ? It is NOT in my Modules folder.

    ********

Now I can continue with my other project : Replace buttons by SECOND Keyboard keys.

    see here

Talk to you again soon, I hope
