Ian Thatcher of FS-Shipyards sadly passed away little over a week ago. I know there are a few Emma Members who knew him and others who are 'into' shipping. Today I sent out below press release to the media:
PRESS RELEASE - FSAddon Publishing, Netherlands, September 13th, 2010.
FSAddon Publishing Helps to Continue Legacy
As many of our readers will already know, Ian 'Thatch' Thatcher sadly passed away on Saturday 28th of August, 2010. With
him yet another one of the icons of Flight Simulator add-on development and freeware support was lost.
His widow, Tracey, has expressed the desire to keep Ian's work and dream alive and continue his famous FS-Shipyards
website.
FSAddon Publishing is happy to announce that they will be supporting Tracey to
achieve her goal to continue the FS-Shipyards.org website (www.fs-shipyards.org)
and serve her community.
FS-Shipyards.org is Ian's original site dedicated to ship and naval simulation based upon Microsoft's Flight Simulator
franchise and provides free ship model downloads and a forum for developers and shipping enthusiasts. It has done so for
many years, and, with YOUR help, will continue to do so for many more years to come.
Ian, who was also known under other names such as Andy Weir and Thomas Trewin and publishing FS add-ons under those names,
set up this site many years ago to further the development of the shipping aspect in the sim. He built a considerable
community around it. Ian was also a member of the Golden Wings Gang, among other things providing landclass for 'Golden
Hawai' and working with Bill Lyons.
Many of Ian's source files for ships will remain available for free on the FS-Shipyards download pages for others to use
and learn building ships.
FSAddon Publishing, as one of the world's smaller but top quality add-on publishers, supports other freeware and
commercial developers and sites and is also currently involved in a major shipping project for FSX.
We feel FS-Shipyards is both a good cause to support and an opportunity to benefit from each others skills, knowledge and
enthusiasm to keep the 'FSX shipping market' open for business.
FS-Shipyards can be found at www.fs-shipyards.org, and FSAddon Publishing is at www.fsaddon.eu.
If you want more information, then please contact us at info@FSAddon.eu.

Well, it USED to be 'Hold up at the line..... '
-
Many of my websites were attacked and mutilated during a Russian hack attack recently and I had to erase their contents. Some of the files were even on a server that wasn't mine (anymore).
It will take me many months to first FIND and then restore to another place all those missing files and links, IF I can at all.
I am truly sorry for the inconvenience and will continue to work on it into 2011.

Congrats Laurie, well done mate !!

Ronald, I am referring to the fact that you should ask in the FSUIPC forum of Pete Dowson. He's the expert on these things.
That forum can be found further down the list here... but here's the direct link:

Yes, Pete. In his own, dedicated forum, look further down in this list

Thank you for letting us know Dobie. BT will be missed indeed, as he was a very loyal EFC member and visitor of these forums.

There's also a My Account on the simMarket page. You'll access it with the login you used when purchasing it.
Under My Orders you can always find your purchases, downloads and serial numbers !

I believe he's on his way to new York again, so........
-
But it does show how remote the boss is from what this whole FS thing is actually all about.......
-
No, I am fine sitting here chuckling from time to time
... oh, and you wouldn't believe the amount of wasted time I have now freed up !!!
-
Working on new forums to replace all this, gents...... after Summer all will be in place I expect
-
They probably noticed the 'master' has left.......
-
Congrats on that job.... sounds like a really good hit !! :-)
-
I usually don't install anything in the 'default' MS Program Folders.... that seems to help immensely
My FSX (for instance) is installed at D:\MyPrograms\FSXAccell\...... never had any issues. I also install sceneries and tools outside of the main FSX folders. Saves on time when having to re-install for whatever reason.

Thanks John, you can of course always find me on my own forums and on my blog ;-)
-
Maybe he'll turn up at Andras Field soon? :?
-
My memory is not yet THAT bad
And a still of the 'old' members are still here... still waiting for the NEW Emma Field......
-
I think the server is down... been too busy to work on it, sorry.... also, the donations have all but dried up (certainly NOT your fault!!) so I don't know if I can continue to run it. My 'simFlight salary' obviously also dried up
I'll have a look later tonight!
Kind regards,
Francois

Version 4.xxx of WHAT, I wonder? If you're not more specific (OR post in the proper forum) I doubt you'll get the proper answers.

Pretty much also depends on the plane you're in, and the situation you're in. Most GA aircraft don't really need rudder in flight, the older bi-planes do though, keeping them 'clean'.

Thanks Garry.
No East Coast and Midwest for us this time. We're heading for ALASKA !!! (and Seattle, and San Francisco).
And yes, already very filled itinerary.
You'll be happy to learn that part of it is dedicated to Flight Simulator projects development  Among other things I'll be collecting data for a special aircraft model we'll be developing after I return. And making photos of Alaska and other places to be used in new projects.
And then there's riding BMW's, of course. As much as we can.
And flying aircraft, in as many places as we can.
WE sure intend to have FUN ! :-))
