  1. I love to fly around Emma!! This is a great idea... Looking forward to this flying club. Whats the time frame on the website?

ASAP !! :D (but not heard dates yet..... we are in the design phase with this whole thing.... all ideas welcome too !! )

  2. Rob & all, yes I believe we found a webmaster..... I'll ask Nicolas to drop in here and reply... He's the one that started all this and heading the Team for now.

But we certainly will need more help soon, so don't leave ! :o

  3. The Emma Field Flying Club is getting organized. The intention is to have fun flying from Emma Field in anything that can possibly take off and land there. And talk about our fun. We will be organizing 'Fly-ins' and other events, provide information about the area and flying in it in general. And we'll have virtual barbecues weather permitting, of course :D

The forum is for members of the club (you will be able to apply for membership as soon as we have a website up and running), and for guests (potential members  ).

You can discuss anything you like here, as long as there is a connection to Emma Field and/or its flying club.

We will also use the forum to post news as long as we do not have a website yet.

    Happy Flying !

  4. Took an introductory lesson today (my father gave me the money, surprising me) and loved it.

Indeed, the controls make a lot of difference.

Most flightsim controls react far different from control input compared to those on real aircraft. Where in a real C172, you need only minimal deflection to turn, in FS you really need to yank on that yoke or stick (this caused me to make some pretty steep turns unintentionally today until I got settled down).

Well, congrats on joining the 'real world' Jeroen :?

But... "janking the yoke" ????? :?: :?: You must have been playing Falcon 4.0 too much   Or have your setup worng?

I fly my sim just like the real aircraft, with gentle control inputs.. most certainly no janking !!

What most sim-learned pilots do wrong though is looking at the instruments too much. That is why the virtual cockpit is a big step towards reality. I usually have it set so that I only see the top of the instrument panel and only ocasionally look down at the instruments to do a 6-check. (this is talking VFR of course). 90% of the time I look outside and control the aircraft based on the visual observations from the world around.... like in the real thing

  5. Aside from the obvious, My Twin Otter seems to have a unique problem. My favorite version is the Amphibious. But I noticed that I cannot turn left or right in this aircraft. The others are okay, no problem with them. However, I would like to know how I can fix this.....

HMmmm, you can't easily. There is no (water) rudder and no steerable nose wheels. The only way to make it turn is by differential braking and using the throttle (throttle up right engine to make left turn and vice versa).

  6. Hi all,

just a very quick note, because unfortunately the EFC PR Officer (ummm.. oh.. that's me.. ) is onhis way to the airport for another real life flight :?

Work on getting the club started is ongoing, Jeroen Wenting is working on a first draft for a web site. We are still looking for a skilled web designer/maintainer with LOTS of spare time (you know, the stuff we all have waaaaaay too little of  ). Check the LAGO site, they are even offering a free product for a good volunteer !

We will also be looking to open a seperate forum for the club so we do not keep 'poluting' the LAGO Support Forum (where we are now).

I should be back in town on Sunday and will shed some more light on what is going on by Sunday evening. Oh, and should I forget.. I am getting a bit older these days.. please remind me  )
