Differing copies of FSUIPC & Saitek pedals
AW1312 replied to AW1312's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Thank you that's been very helpful in my decision to change the pedals. I wasn't happy with them from the start. With reference to Windows power management I checked all USB components and all were turned off. Cheers Alan W -
Hello Pete Firstly I have updated to the new version of FSUIPC. I am experiencing issues with my CPFlight MIP board (another story) and I noticed in the CPFlight tools folder is a folder named FSUIPC. Upon checking the contents I note it is completely different to the FSUIPC folder in modules in FS9. Would this cause an issue anywhere. PMDG is listed but I no longer have PMDG installed, I now use Prosim with their version of the 737 (Jetstream). You suggested a while back that the Saitek combat pedals I use may not be waking up when FS is started and through trial and error found the only way to get them to work was to open FSUIPC whilst FS is running, physically move the pedals so the values changed and this 'woke them up'. I have contacted Saitek who said I don't need FSUIPC for these pedals but I was under the impression this was the best course of action to take. Could you please let me have your opinion on this? Thank you Regards Alan W
-
Thank you Pete much appreciated but no luck they still won't wake up other than to open FSUIPC move them momentarily and they're ok! I've experimented different ways but this seems to be the only way (for whatever reason) to get them to work! I'll contact Saitek. Thanks again Alan
-
Hello Pete You suggested in an earlier post that my pedals (Saitek Combat) might be 'sleeping' due to a power management setting. I have looked in several places on how to check this in Windows 7 but can't seem to find how to check if this is the case. This isn't an FSUIPC issue but was wondering if you could point me in the right direction to set the power management so the pedals are 'awake' permanently? Thank you very much. Regards Alan W

Have you a cross assignment somewhere else, maybe in FS assignments? Are they calibrated in windows correctly. Just a thought. I had this problem but turned out to be calibration/cross assignment and it really was a case of tweaking in FSUIPC to fine tune it. Hope that helps a bit ALW
-
Hello Peter I moved them before start up and that did the trick. Thank you. Regards Alan

Hello Peter Can you help please? I'm using FS9 + Prosim Jetstream 737 + Saitek Combat Pedals. The rudder pedals don't work for the first time after starting FS. If I open FSUIPC/Joystick calibration and operate the pedals they are seen and they work after doing this but not before. This applies to whether I'm on the ground or in the air. (Yes not a very straight run when in the take off roll. This maybe nothing to do with FSUIPC, but as I said it is always ok after I have checked the setting in FSUIPC?!! I hope that makes sense? I've checked in FS own assignments and there are no cross controls. I also use a tiller and this is calibrated through FSUIPC too. If you have any thoughts on this-thank you in advance. Regards A W

Thank you for your reply. Alan W

Hello Peter When calibrating the elevator in FSUIPC the values are changing rapidly even when the joystick is not moving. Can you advise please? Thank you regards Alan W

BU0836X Calibration and Noise
AW1312 replied to pilotjohn's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Hello Pilot John Following an overhead panel re-wire I had to recalibrate the yoke, control column etc. I found the erratic behaviour (of the little cross) in settings is overcome by moving the controller in question several if not many times in order for it to take 'proper' effect. Works every time for me and I have 4 BU0836X boards connected! Hope that helps. Happy New Year AW -
Hello to all When moving the steering tiller forward (turning aircraft right) about 2/3 through the axis the 'differential brakes' message is displayed causing the aircraft to brake. I have checked everywhere and cannot find any cross assignments. FS joysticks is disabled and all assignments in FS deleted. I am also having trouble calibrating the brakes and was wondering if the two could be related? I'm using FS9 and PMDG 800-900. Any suggestions gratefully received! AW

Flight Deck Companion v FSUIPC
AW1312 replied to AW1312's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Hello Ian All I want to work with FDC is the cabin crew announcements. So I've disabled all the options except cabin crew announcements. This worked fine, it wasn't until I started adjusting the rotary speed dial on my (hardware) MCP that a pop up window declared that VCP was on when I turned the dial to increase the speed and VCP off when I turned the dial to decrease speed. This led to me learning that there are hotkeys assigned by default in FDC. So I unchecked all these (obviously interfering with CPFlight assignments) and this is when it appears that FSUIPC reverted to the earlier version. I then re-installed the current version of FSUIPC-no problem there-and I re-checked the hotkeys assignments and all's well apart from VCP taking control when I don't want it to. If you have any further suggestions I'd be grateful. I hope that all makes sense. Regards Alan W -
Flight Deck Companion v FSUIPC
AW1312 replied to AW1312's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Thanks Ian Another lesson in computing for me!! Regards Alan -
Hello Pete I recently installed FDC by Aerosoft and experienced a couple of minor issues once installed. Without going into too long a story, when starting this programme, upon investigation, I found that v3.99g of FSUIPC had changed to v3.73! I re-installed v3.99 and have stopped using FDC until such time the issue with it can be resolved. I'm using FS9 with PMDG 800/900. What could possibly do that? Thank you Alan
-
Hello Peter I agree this is not FSUIPC related. Good news is I have got one board working correctly and there is no speedbrake movement now. The 'X' key and other related issues I will seek advice through other FS9 forums as you suggest. Thank you for your input, much appreciated. Regards Alan
-
Hello Peter I really don't think this is FSUIPC related, I know you don't too but I would like to tell you I deleted the FSUIPC ini file and also FS9 cfg and started again. No external boards connected, just the keyboard and mouse. The only issues I have (that I found on this occasion) was that key X on the keyboard switches the cockpit view to virtual cockpit view. Interestingly coupled with this when pressing key X and commencing the T/O roll, after a few seconds the cockpit only section of the aircraft can be seen 'overtaking'and 'leading the way'.!! And on one occasion the mouse had focus and I was able to 'pan' the view with the mouse. Thats about it. I'm going to add the external controls one by one now. If there is anything here that you might be able to help with, as you know I would be very grateful. And lastly there is nothing assigned in FSUIPC at this time Regards Alan
-
Hello Peter Thank you for your reply. I will attempt to start at the begnning. I will write everything down and see if something can be deduced from that. With regard to the 'N1' and the Cessna, by Cessna I mean the throttle was open. I will let you know the results. Regards Alan
-
Hello Peter While I appreciate you taking the time to help me and I might be a being a bit sensitive here but I feel the tone in your replies seem a bit discourteous. I openly admit my knowledge of PCs,software and other PC related issues is very limited so I turn to someone professional like yourself and ask for little understanding. I am professional in the work I do and always offer advice where I can without sarcasm and making people feel a little undermined. This may not be intentional on your part, I quite understand that but this is how I have been left feeling. I met you in Lelystad 18 months ago and assisted you at Schipol to reach the terminal which I was glad to do so I know it's nice to help people. I also understand that FSUIPC may not even be at fault but I am trying very hard to resolve this issue and with limited knowledge it is very difficult. That said I will gather the required information and send it to you. Regards Alan
-
Hello Peter Well I'm still at it! I'm unable to reverse the aileron direction even with the box ticked in the joystick calibration settings. Wonder if you might be able to shed some light on this? Thank you Regards Alan
-
Hello Peter The throttles advancing happens as soon as N1 reaches idle. Bearing in mind the aircraft is on the runway with engines running (obviously). I think I have narrowed this down a bit. Apart fronm the new issue with the throttles the speedbrake issue hasn't been resolved. I disconnected the the yoke from the 0836x board and assigned num pad 2 & 8 for ailerons bank left and right and when these are pressed the speedbrake still moves. The throttles advance in the default Cessna too. I did delete the PMDG file from the modules folder. Apart from these minor problems I think everything else is ok!!? Thank you for your continued support. It must be frustrating sometimes. I'm sure if you were here it would be resolved in a few clicks of the mouse! Regards Alan
-
Hello Peter I wanted to check if you are still available this evening for advice? Thank you Alan
-
Hello Pete Well the saga continues! I've un and reinstalled PMDG and no difference. The trottles are advancing themselves now even in the default Cessna. The spoiler is still moving when the ailerons are moved and to add to that FS is crashing frequently. I think I'm going to uninstall everything and have fresh start. I've been trying for 10 days now to get this working but clearly not succeeding. Either that or I give up simming! Cheers Alan
-
Yes not very well written. It should read F10 was temporarily assigned for flaps but for some reason pressing this key now pauses FS without any assignments in FS itself. Ok I think I'm going to uninstall PMDG and start again. I was planning this as a last resort so better get on with it. Thank you for taking the time to help me. Kind regards Alan
-
Hello Peter Well all seems well in the default 737. Interestingly I assigned F10 as a temporary key for flaps extend in increments but found that now is Pause but nothing is assigned in FS!!? Anyway I have pasted a bit more of the log from the default 737 Regards Alan 3192219 *** AXIS: Cntrl= 66382 (0x0001034e), Param= -11579 (0xffffd2c5) AXIS_SPOILER_SET 3192219 *** AXIS: Cntrl= 66382
