  1. Yep.. My experience has shown that it requires some movement to get it recognized. it also tends to drop out, so you may find that on first use in the simulator, it may require a couple spins to have it kick back in. Ernie
  2. I'm trying to determine if this is normal operation, or not. I am using "UseProfiles=Files" and have successfully created and used several profiles. When I am in the 'Options and Settings' dialog and select the 'Axis Assignment' tab, the title bar immediately displays the profile for the aircraft I am in. (example "FSUIPC Options and Settings - iFly_737") and selects the 'Profile Specific' checkbox.. However, if I am in the 'Buttons' tab and press a button, no profile is displayed and the 'Profile Specific' checkbox is blank. I have to click on the 'Profile Specific' checkbox to select the profile, even though I have previously assigned the selected button to the current aircraft. This makes me wonder if perhaps the same thing is occurring because sometimes clicking on an assigned button doesn't seem to work. How can I validate, during flight that FSUIPC4 is actually using the correct profile when I click on a button? Thanks, Ernie
  3. Silly question I know, but have you also pressed the AP (auto pilot button)? FMS, FD1 or FD2, NAV and AP along with a valid fliight plan programmed into the FMS. BTW, did you create the flight plan or import it into the FMC? I'm just curious as it shouldn't make a difference. My HDG and NAV buttons are frequently both illuminated, which doesn't appear to create any issues. Ernie

    Pump Power

    I've notice on quite a few flights of mine (I'm still learning!) that both fuel pump power switches will shut off. Typically it will be during takeoff with, FD1, FMS, YD, on, but AP not yet engaged and if I've chose to hand fly the aircraft to its initial altitude. It's almost become normal procedure to hear the EICAS warning tone, open the overhead panel and set the switches back to ON during takeoff. I doubt this is supposed to happen, but if so.. What is the correct procedure/setup for non-AP climbs? Thanks, Ernie

  8. Ran into an issue today, where I couldn't get full thrust on takeoff due to icing.. I'm not quite sure how to handle this. "Ice Condition" displayed in the EICAS, All anti-ice switches were off (black), , Override switch all, or eng (tried both).. Could not achieve N1 over 40.4 This puppy is grounded..     ERJ doors

    The T/O menu in the ERJ's MFD has nine doors illuminated in green. I understand that these include such things as interior and emergency doors. My question has to do with the non-emergency, three exterior doors. I am able to open the main door using Shift+e and the cargo/baggage door using Shift+e+2. However, the service door does not appear to open. Is there a key sequence for the service door, or is it non-functional? Thanks

  14. Thanks for responding. Both jumps were fairly instantaeous. The second jump was from a cruise altitude of 28000' to 32500' in a second or two. Both went extreme nose up. Nothing but sky in the windscreen. I had to disengage the AP and reduce thrust to regain control and get the aircraft back to the captured altitude setting in the PFD. Once there, I engaged the AP and it held fine the remainder of the trip at that altitude. I'm going to do a bit more testing with the 'Use default autopilot for altitude hold' in the ERJ config dialog unchecked to see if that has any effect. Ernie
  15. I flew from KMEM to KSDF today on VATSIM and during the flight I had two instances where the autopilot was active and I had several thousand feet jumps in altitude. One was where i about 2000' below my target altitude of 28000' and climbing. The aircraft suddenly jumped from appoximately 26000' to the target altitude. On the second occasion I was at cruise altitude and the aircraft jumped from 28000' to 32500'. Enough of a change that I got a call from ATC. This isn't the first flight that this has happened on. FSX and all related files are installed on a separate drive from my OS. I'm running Win 7 Pro and UAC is off. Any known casuses, fixes, etc?
  16. After completing the Performance Init phase in my FMC I receive a "CHECK FUEL RESERVE" message. When looking at page 3/5 under FUEL RESERVE it indicates NBAA. I can delete the message, but I'm not sure this addresses my fuel reserve issues, otherwise why the message in the first place? Any hint on how I can correct this, or at least determine the fuel reserves that I need to enter on the FUEL RESERVE page? Thanks, Ernie
  17. feelThere ERJ v2 Manual: Page 49: "So you will find 3 fields to enter data and 3 OR prompts. Those provide default settings. So press them and select: 270/.56 for climb, MAX CRZ for cruise and VMO/MMO/3.0 for descent (3,0 is the descent path angle you want to use)." 1) There is no MAX CRZ setting on the Cruise Mode screen; there is MAX SPD. Is MAX SPD the same as MAX CRZ? Also, the decimal value that shows up for VMO/MMO/3.0 is 4.0, not 3.0. "On pages 3/5 and 4/5, you can enter various meteorological data but if you don’t the FMS will compute them in flight so don’t change anything." 2) Page 3/5 of PERFORMANCE INIT does not contain meteorological data. Instead it is titled "PERFORMANCE INIT-LB" and contains "STEP INCREMENT", "FUEL RESERVE", and "TO/LDG FUEL". The comment on Page 28 makes reference to the three fields, but I cannot find in the manual where it discusses them further. It would seem that these are pretty important values to be aware of. Do you have some information that explains the use of these valuses? Thanks, Ernie

  19. I purchased both E-Jets and ERJ series. Both manuals state "installer will overwrite any pre-existing feelThere Common Database (FCD) AIRAC". Where is this datebase located? I can't seem to find it within the FSX/FeelThere folder. I've also looked in roaming. The only thing I can think of is that it's the nb.mdb file located in the FeelThere\Nd folder. If that's the case, which aircraft package has the most up to date? I'm using Windows 7 Pro, FSX is installed on a separate drive from the OS and UAC is off. Thanks..
  20. Hope this helps. I should mention that I'm running MS FSX in DX9 mode and all of my switches in SPAD are set to "FSUIPC Offset Change". With the alternator/battery switch OFF; Only the landing lights turn on/off. With the alternator/battery switch ON; The panel, beacon, nav, strobe, and landing lights work individually or in combination with the others. The taxi lights never work, but I think that is because the default C172 wasn't modeled with taxi lights. You could try assigning the FSX keyboard combination (Shift+L) to the landing light switch in SPAD setup. That would allow you to bypass FSUIPC to verify that it's not a hardware problem. Ernie
  21. What aircraft are you using? I just tested my Saitek Switch Panel with FSUIPC 4.944a and SPAD v0.5.1. In both the default C172 and Carenado C172 all lighting, including panel lights worked as they should. The panel switch did not funciton correctly with the A2A C172. However, I had not tested this in any prior versions of FSUPIC4, so I can't say that it ever worked. The reason being that I don't do night flights and therefore never use the panel lights. I did notice that when using "Shift L", which is the FSX keyboard assignment, that the A2A panel lights have two brightnesses, which is certainly non-standard in that the FSX default is either ON or OFF. If the aircraft you are flying has only one level of brightness, then you can assign the key combination specified in FSX to the switch. My guess that it the switch is presently set to "FSUIPC Offset Change".

  23. I have a DTA Rotary Encoder wired with eight rotary switches; FSUIP4 finds the device and I've been able to map the switches in the "Buttons & Switches" tab and they all work fine. However, I would like to make the switches a bit courser. Right now it takes multiple clicks to change degrees on the VOR, etc., so it's not very realistic. I've not done any LUA programming, but have done programming and am willing to attempt LUA if that is the solution to my goal. Just need some advice, direction, etc. Thanks, Ernie
