  1. Simbuf.

That did not do it for me. I installed the latest USB Driver and the the 4.2version of the sofware. I copied over the .cfg.

Then moment I select that cfg, It says in a pop up "error Configuration file". (My old control program version was 3.1.1).

Then I simply asked it to read off the instruments and assinged the types to each guage. saved a new.cfg and it looked good. Infact, it was as if it has been caliberated. and I was happy.

However, after flying it for a while.. I keep getting a Pop up saying "A processing error has occured processing GuageID:8 Check guage and/or assigned function").

when I click on on that pop up, the control program goes into "Halted" stage. If I press "Run", it continues ok...for a while..then the same Pop up.

    Guage ID8 is my VSI.

BTW.. it happens when the VSI needle goes to the extreme position... + or -

    Any ideas?

    Manny

EDITED TO ADD: OK... I recaliberated the VSI and it seems to be OK. I forgot how to caliberate.. Its been a long time since I did the last time.

    :)

  2. OK.. I have a new PC. So this time, I want to download the latest s/w

But I want to use my old settings. I don't want to sit and caliberate each and every guage all over again.

After I install the latest s/w. What config file do I move from my old PC so I can just plug the guages and get going?

    Manny

  3. Yes I do with 1 entry under that

    fssound.dll=1

BTW, I am not sure I understand your Q there "Is the FI digital altimeter unable to work with changing weather environment,"

You have to change the Pressure using that knob on the altimeter guage as you move from one pressure system to another just like in the real world. It would not change on its own.

  4. But I thought I'll ask the source of truth directly. Its interesting. Anything you would like to add Pete? As to the future strategy of FSUIPC and MS?

If I knew I wouldn't be allowed to say. Unlike MS spokespersons (it seems) most others involved are subject to very strict NDAs.

There will be an FSUIPC for FSX. I can't say any more, but whether that is because I don't know or can't say I'm afraid you'll have to guess.

    Sorry.

    Regards,

    Pete

    I understand. Thanks Pete.

    Never hurts to try...... :P

  5. I read this

    http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=1925&page=

The exact quote for #2 is: "We are working very closely with Peter DowsonSo he's working directly with us to make sure that those aircraft that use that will work, and it'll be easier for third-parties to not have to use that in the future because they can use our API. We'll be releasing quarterly updates to our API so that if we don't get 100% of it in the beginning we'll be able to catch up."

But I thought I'll ask the source of truth directly.

  6. Hi Pete.

Sorry for the late reply. I was away for a week, I just got back yesterday.

    Well here is the deal.

    I got it working.

    The confusion was,

    1. When I click on that 1=12, 2 = 34 and then test the throttle while I am in the FSUIPC joystick tab page3, it does not work. The lever 1 moves throttle 1 and 2. But the lever 2 moves throttle 2 and throttle 4. Only when I get out completely and try it out with an airplane, it works fine. Does that make sense?

    2. I didn't understand 1=12 (twelve) and 2=34 (twenty four) meant. I may have understood it if it were 1=1,2 and 2= 3,4. :)

Well anyway.. Now everything is fine.

    Thanks

  7. Hi Pete.

I do have it and I did look at it before I came here.

I see in page 31 (MS Word - User Guide). where the

    "THROTTLE1_SET

    THROTTLE2_SET

    THROTTLE3_SET

    THROTTLE4_SET

    "

"–4096 (full reverse*) via 0 (idle) to +16384 (full forward). All four are operated together if you map a single axis assigned to AXIS_THROTTLE_SET to these.

Since FS2002 these are replaced by those with the AXIS_ prefix. FSUIPC handles both identically, except when calibrating the 4 axes separately, where there’s now an option to only process the new AXIS_ ones. This option is useful for those aircraft panels which themselves use the older controls for “fly-by-wire” type operation.

    * The actual negative value for “full reverse” is defined in the aircraft parameters (the .AIR file). Since version 2.975 FSUIPC has calibrated reverse to match the aircraft, so you will see different values here, not just the nominal ‘–4096’.

    '

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Then I saw something called "compund button" in the advanced users.doc. don't know if that is the way to go.

    Hmmmm.....

    The I saw this.

"• A similar facility is available for flying 3-engined aircraft with two levers. In this case the first lever controls both engines 1 and 2, and the second one controls engine 3. Follow the same calibrations as in the previous instance, but then check the option “Map 1->12, 2->3”. This mapping only occurs when a 3-engined aircraft is loaded. This facility also applies to the mixture and propeller pitch levers."

I got that to work.. meaning.. Lever one controlled Throttle 1 and 2...but when I move Lever 2, that moves throttle 2 and Throttle 3.. I think.. If I assign it to thorttle 3. Then I have three engines controled with these two levers.. How do I get the throttle 4 in?

    Hmmm....

    :D

  8. I was told on the AVSIM cockpt forum that that I can assign Two throttles in 1 lever.... This way I can fly the 4 engines with two levers.

    How do I do that?

I am on tab 'Joysticks'-->3 of 11 Seperate throttles per engine

    I see Throttle 1....Throttle 4

I see box for 'filter' . Don't know what that is.

I see a box rev..don't know what that is.

I see a box for Exclude THROTTLEn SET. Don't know what that is.

    OK..When I toggle the Set/Reset button..I get the Map 1->12, 2->3 under the Throttle 3 and Throttle 4

All I can do is select them...but how do I say...sync it to a specific throttle?

I know how to assign 1 lever for all four engines. but I want to assign two throttles to each levers.

  9. Look at Enermax

    http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Brand.asp?Brand=1400

or any good power supply that you would use for a PC that you are building.

I made the mistake of getting the ULTRA something something that had a very nice removeable cabling. So I won't have a bunch of cables that I won't be using. I can just plug in the necessary cable that I need. But that power died on me after 2 days. I exchanged it for enermax. Its cables/wires like all the other powersupply have to be bunched up. But if you are going to hide the power supply somewhere, it may not be a big deal.

I spent around $80 bucks on one.

Mind you.. these power supply are meant to be connected to a PC mother board otherwise it the power will not turn on. But there is a simple solution around this.

Check this forum for the solution for that.

  10. Yes.. I have the CH Throttle using FSUIPC configured for a twin.

But I want to configure it differently for the PMDG 744 since it has four engines. I want the middle 4 levers as throttles.

Can this be configured diffferntly just for one single aircraft wihtout disturbing the twin configuration for all other aircrafts?

If so, how do I do that?

I tried selecting airplane specific (I know there was a select option there), but it still only recognize the first two levers as throttles... not the third lever.

    hmmm...

    thanks.

  11. GSA29.jpg

I want that with a faceplate for RPM and MP.

    Preferably with long dual needles.

It doesn't matter if its a big guage or a small guage (with the short needle ofcourse).

    Manny

Leverage what you have: I would think, is add an entry in the software for the MP and RPM very similar to the ASI and print a new Face plate for this. Thats all.

Or better still that generic dual needle guage that you guys mentioned with a set of face plates.... for various instruments.

    :P

  12. Hi Simbuff.

No. I do not have this checked.

The guage seems to be ading an extra 100 feet for every .10 of inches increase in Hg.

But the figure in the simulator control program seems to be right.

I think..its more to do with caliberation. Is there a way to caliburate this like I could caliburate my Air speed indicator? You know..if the input value from the control program is x move the need to y kind of thing.

Everytime I increase the pressure .01 , the needle and the guage moves the the right spot (+ 10 feet), pauses for a second and moves again the second time (another + 10 feet). doubling it.

    Hmmmm.....

    Manny

BTW. If I do select Air pressure affects altitude, and save it. it does't seem to keep that. It has no effect, which means, its probably set at that Air pressure affects altitude and I am unable to uncheck it (even though the box is unchecked)

Is there a file, I could open an set a value?

In the cfg file, I have the following as the last set of parameters under "alitmeter".

    ....(OC18 defines international units)", 0, 5, 8, 13092, 0, 0, 0, 0, 3, 4, 1, 1

  13. Maybe, its something I am doing wrong.

OK.. This is what I did

    1. Started flight sim LA Airport. 29.92 altitude is reading 129 feet on the aircraft,

    2. I start the control prgram and select RUN.

    3. altitude is reading 129 feet on the control program, on the guage needle and on the guage digiital display

    EVERYTHING is looking good.

I turn the guage knob from 29.92 to 30.02

This is what I get. Aircraft pressure has changed to 30.02 (and the control program too). But the alitute on the aircraft reads 230 feet. The control program reads 230feet.

But the guage needle and the digits reads 330.

    Whats with that?
