jalvarezsp Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Is there a way to get the FS2002 Carrier Arrestor cables working with FS2004?? If I run it on another PC running WideClient, I get this error. "Maybe running on WideClient but FS not running on server, or wrong FSUPIC. Is FS running?" Once I start FS2004 on the server, or run Arrestor Cables on the server also, I get this error: "Range check error. Is FS running? -Jose
Pete Dowson Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Sounds like it might be checking the version number of either FSUIPC or FS, or possibly both. Maybe you need an update for FS2004 -- have you looked to see if there is one? Not all programs will work without changes. You could try adding "MakeItVersionFS2002=Yes" to the FSUIPC.INI [General] section, but if you do that many other add-ons may go wrong because FSUIPC will be lying about what version of FS it is. And I don't support the use of this "fiddle". Regards, Pete
jalvarezsp Posted January 3, 2004 Author Report Posted January 3, 2004 Actually, there is a FS2004 update, however, the author of arresto Cables sold the program to Abacus who came out with their carrier three package which uses the updated arrestor cables program. The package is very inexpensive ($19.00) however, they only come with one carrier, where the old version had 18 of themnot sure if the new version will support all of the original carriers as well. Thanks !! -Jose
jalvarezsp Posted January 3, 2004 Author Report Posted January 3, 2004 Yeapthat was it. I put that line in the FSUIPC.INI and now it works. I guess if I run into any other compatibility problems, I just take that line out. Thanks -Jose
Robert Robinson Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Peter, I am having a problem with the freeware version of Arrestor Cables (ver. 2.4.0.3) and FS2004. The freeware version would work fine with FS2002 and FSUIPC 2.83. I have upgraded and registered FSUIPC 3.22, I am running FS2004 in the Win 2000 OS. I was getting the "Range Checking Error, Is FS running?" from the Arrestor Cables software until I added the line "MakeItVersionFS2002=Yes" to FSUIPC.INI like you suggested. Now, when I run Arrestor Cables, I'm getting the message "Program only works with FSUIPC 2.83 or later -- Connection Aborted". Will there be any way that I will be able to use the freeware version of Arrestor Cables, or does it look like I may be spinning my wheels trying to correct a problem that will only be corrected by purchasing the payware version of the same software?
Pete Dowson Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 I was getting the "Range Checking Error, Is FS running?" from the Arrestor Cables software until I added the line "MakeItVersionFS2002=Yes" to FSUIPC.INI like you suggested. Now, when I run Arrestor Cables, I'm getting the message "Program only works with FSUIPC 2.83 or later -- Connection Aborted". It sounds like the author has put loads of checks into the program, possibly deliberately to encourage the commercial version to be sold. Will there be any way that I will be able to use the freeware version of Arrestor Cables Only by (illegally) hacking into the program and changing the checks it is making. Already, using the "MakeItVersionFS2002" fiddle (which was only added for a very specific problem with a very specific panel), is near the knuckle if the author didn't want it to be used with FS2004. will only be corrected by purchasing the payware version of the same software? Unless the author wants to create a revised freeware version (which of course you can ask about) I think that's your only option -- sounds like he intended it that way. Sorry. Regards, Pete
Robert Robinson Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like I'll have to find and purchase the payware version. Regards, Robert
