4th_Blimey
Pete, Thanks for some wonderful software! I am curious, though, has anyone, or anything been done (that you know of) with your products to allow a multiplayer crew to operate one aircraft? Would you be able to accomplish this via WideFS, or a combination of utilities and piece it together, perhaps? Thanks!
Frank.O
Hi, There's a software called gates.to/FSNet that does what you are asking for. It is still in beta as far as I know. Have a look here. Regards, Frank
Pete Dowson
I am curious, though, has anyone, or anything been done (that you know of) with your products to allow a multiplayer crew to operate one aircraft? Would you be able to accomplish this via WideFS, or a combination of utilities and piece it together, perhaps? I'm not sure how multiplayer comes into this -- that's a Microsoft system for introducing multiple aircraft not so much multiple pilots of one aircraft, though I suppose one could be running MP in "observer" mode. Apart from the views, if you simply mean pilot and copilot flying one system using multiple controls, all the flight controls can be duplicated --- FSUIPC supports up two 4 copies in total of each. (There appears to have been a bug introduced into this facility a while back, but I hope it is fixed in the attachment to my message in another thread here -- "elevatorB;rudderB;aileronB"). Other switches and things, if in hardware, can be duplicated of course -- buttons are easier than toggle switches as the cannot get "out of sync", but in a real aircraft you'd normally only have one set of switches which both pilots can reach. It's really only the aileron, elevator and rudder controls which need duplicating. There are quite a few cockpits built which accommodate two pilots. 4th_Blimey
Frank.0, many thanks. I will take a look to see what I can do there. Pete, I'm not sure how multiplayer comes into this -- that's a Microsoft system for introducing multiple aircraft not so much multiple pilots of one aircraft, though I suppose one could be running MP in "observer" mode. Pretty much...Multiplayer, in terms of MS, as you well know, allows people to fly together, but, as seperate aircraft, so by way of observer mode, or otherwise, being able to duplicate the controls indeed was the thought there. Seems a little silly in some ways, but, most of what takes place in the real world is a crew of 2, or 3 real people managing portions of the aircraft. I thought the idea of simulating that experience might be fun (at least for for a handful) as well as giving people a chance to learn piloting without necessarily being tossed to the lions, so to speak. Duplicating the controls is precisely what I had in mind, though, being able to keep the COMMs tuned by one person, and it having effect on both sides and landing gear and the like being managed by the "copilot" is among the ideas I was thinking of... Many thanks for the replies!
