I recently installed an upgrade for a payware aircraft. It appeared that this installation corrupted part of FS9 and I eventually opted to uninstall and re-install FS9. (This may have been a bad choice). Now I am re-installing scenery and aircraft. I am having problems installing FSUIPC 3.53 in FS9. (I had the 3.45 up grade for registered Version FSUIPC 3). The problem is that I cannot get the “Modules” item to show in the flight screen menu. Please note the following:

1. I believe that the FSUIPC.dll is properly installed in the FS9 Modules file. At least it is setting there and shows 224 KBs in the properties.

2. I have made certain that, as far as I can tell, there are no multiple copies of the FSUIPC.dll in the Modules folder or anywhere in my FS9 file. This includes any re-named.

3. Task Manager does not show that there is anything else running and that is not fully terminated.

4. I am not running Window Screens.

5. FSUIPC was running fine before I reinstalled FS9.

I would apprediate it if Pete or someone can figure out what I have done wrong so that I can get my FSUIPC up and running. Thanks, Ted

Is there an FSUIPC.LOG or FSUIPC.INI file also in the FS Modules folder? If so, can you show me the Log file contents please?

I've never heard of a case yet where, with FSUIPC installed, you don't get a Modules menu, containing the FSUIPC entry at least.

Hi Pete,

At the time that I read your reply, I checked and did not have a FSUIPC.ini or a FSUIPC.log file. I must have deleted them when I was trying to remove any duplicates or re-names. I found them in the Recycle bin and restored them, however I still can't get "Modules" to show in the FS9 flight screen. I hope that you can figure out where I went stupid. I am attqching my FSUIPC.LOG file. Thanks

Oh dear. You shouldn't restore them. They aren't installable. They are two files which are always automatically produced when FSUIPC runs. If FSUIPC is loaded by FS, those two files will be created. If it isn't being loaded then those two won't be created. It was a way of trying to determine if FS was loading FSUIPC!

Hey Pete, I don't know whether I got my .LOG file to attach. Here it is.

When was this created? Was this created just, when you tried to run FS again, or is this just an old one from your recycle bin?

Please delete the Log and INI file from the FS Modules folder, then run FS, see the fact that the Modules menu entry is missing, close FS, THEN look in the FS modules folder to see if there's now a newly created Log and INI file.

If there isn't then the file named FSUIPC.DLL which you say you have in the FS Modules folder is not FSUIPC. Best thing to do is delete it and download a new copy. Or even try the 3.536 version available above.

Pete

That was a previous LOG file.

As you have directed, I deleted the LOG and INI files that I had transfered. I then run FS9. the "Modules" menu entry was still missing. I then looked in the FS9 Modules folder and found that no LOG or INI files had been created. I downloaded the latest FSUIPC 3.5.3 version, and installed it. I got the same results.

I had a BUP version of the modules file that I had saved Dec 28, 2005. I know positively that this version was working. I replaced the present FS9 Modules folder with this one. I had the same results as no Modules Menu was showing in the FS9 flight screen.

I appreciate your patience in this and hope that you can determine what I am doing wrong.

Are you SURE that the copy of FS9 you are actually running is the one which corresponds to that modules folder? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but, believe me, it has happened before. Folks have clicked on a shortcut to FS and later found that it was running one from a different folder, not the place they were thinking of at all!

To be sure, run FS9 by going to the parent folder of the Modules folder you have been talking about, and doubleclicking on the FS9.EXE file there.

If that gives the same result, please show me a listing of the Modules folder directory. You can get one of those either by taking a snapshot (ALT Prt SCR) and including the picture, or probably easier by unzipping the BAT file from the attached ZIP into the modules folder in question, then executing it by a double click. It will make a little file "dir.txt". Just include it in a message here. This shows all the DLLs in that folder.

Pete
