Any known issues with TFSControlPanel and FSX

Recommended Posts

Hi Pete,

I have a problem starting the PM MCP on a remote PC since installing it on a new PC under FSX.

WideFS starts OK, but leaves 3 Notepad windows open ( below, THEN, THEN)

This does not happen on any of the other PCs running PMRJ or CDU, which start normally (legacy ini files after upgrading to WideFS 6.70), and leave open no notepad windows.

I cannot get the MCP to load automatically, and wondered if there was an issue with the TFS, as this is the only networked PC running the programme. The other version is on the FSX PC.

The other 4 networked PCs also shutdown OK from the PM CDU command, but the MCP PC does not.

Please can you help with a word from the wise?

Thanks, Paul

Er .. I assume you mean WideClient.exe? WideClient does not use or invoke Notepad. (What's "below, THEN, THEN"?).

I cannot get the MCP to load automatically

Have you added the line in the INI file for it to be loaded?

and wondered if there was an issue with the TFS, as this is the only networked PC running the programme. The other version is on the FSX PC.

What's "TFS"? I've never heard of that.

Duh! Those aren't "Notepad entries", they are the files needed by (INI) and created by (LOG) the wideclient program. If they are appearing on your Desktop it means you are running WideClient on your desktop, instead of from a shortcut to the program in a Folder on your hard disk!!!

Install Wideclient.EXE into the same folder as your MCP.EXE program. Add the lines in the WideClient.INI file to load the MCP program and close it. Drag a SHORTCUT (NOT the program!!!) to the desktop so you can start it easily.

Thank you Pete,

Some people are just born to be dumb!

I think the pc term now in the UK is technically challenged. Certainly sums me up!

I found 3 other copies of older versions of wideFS on what was my previous FS PC.

Now going downstairs to try and resolve the issue.

Tnx again,

ps TFS is the IVIBE seat control module, which loads from the start menu - The seat works like one of those massaging seats you see in shopping centres, and helps whilst trying to sort out FSUIPC & PM issues - open the throttle and the massage intensity increases. I haven't worked out where you can buy the extras that go in the expansion ports, but at 20V, they should be good value!

No excuses, Guv

(Duh!) how did I leave it on the desktop?

Thanks Peter, all is now resolved.

Another unrelated question - I am using the FSX CRJ model, and CH throttles, I think correctly calibrated in FSUIPC.

On starting the FSX, the throttles are open to around 50%, which requires a physical movment of he CH levers open and close to correct and close the throttles.

Any ideas on why FSX opens at a different value to FSUIPC ( actual throttle position)

Thanks,

On starting the FSX, the throttles are open to around 50%, which requires a physical movment of he CH levers open and close to correct and close the throttles.

The throttle positions, like anything else in the cockpit, are saved in the Flight files and reloaded next time you use the same ones. Axis inputs from joysticks don't have any effect until they change.

Just load FSX, set everything the way you want to start (i always have everything cold and dark -- engines stopped, fuel cut, parking brake on, battery off etc), then save that Flight marking it as your default.

This isn't different in FSX to any other version of FS I can recall. ;-)

Regards

Pete
