Hi Pete,

I downloaded 3.874 and when I open in FS9 Modules/FSUIPC I see on the Options and Settings page that this is version 3.874 as expected. But there is still "Aircraft specific" on the different pages and not "Profile specific" as explained by you. Do I have to do a further step to come to profiles? (I didnt use Aircraft specific up to now).

Two points:

1. FSUIPC 3.874 is not supported. It was a Beta release of several weeks ago and has long been superseded, both by later beta releases and then, last week, by the full 3.90 release which is availble on the normal download sites as well as here. Please do refer to the Announcements from time to time..

2. The method of using Profiles is described in the documentation -- for 3.874 this was in the little PDF which was included in the ZIP with it. For 3.90 it has its own chapter in the User guide.

Sorry Pete,

now I downloaded 3.90 and the Options page confirms that I am now working with 3.90. But when opening one of the pages, there are still boxes named "Aircraft specific". Thats not what you write in the Users Guide. Whats wrong?

Where are you reading that "aircraft specific" is wrong? I don't understand you at all I'm afraid.

Please READ THE CHAPTER ON PROFILES! It is called "User profiles for all control settings" on page 26 or thereabouts. It is even listed in the Contents page near the beginning! It tells you what to do! That is what documentation is for, to help you do what you want to do!

FSUIPC defaults to only providing aircraft-specific options, not Profiles, because there are thousands of users already using the aircraft-specific facilities. Changing over is not automatic. You have to select it before running FSX, EXACTLY as described in the Manual.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother writing documentation. :-(

Pete,

I am so sorry and to my shame I must confess that I didnt read all what you wrote in your documentation. I can imagine that its totally frustrating for you to deal with people like me. The only explanation for my mistake is that its hard and tiring not only to read but also to understand all the datails in such a huge documentation. But I promise you, I will try hard to improve me!

Thanks a lot,

Guenther

Okay. Sorry for getting a bit irritated with you.

Good flying!
