FSUIPC disappeard

Recommended Posts

Hi Pete!

After installing the newest version of FSUIPC4, it has disappeard from the "Addons"-area of FSX. Files are there in the modules folder of FSX, but where is the "controlpanel" ?

My PC is a brand new machine with Windows 7/64 bits.

Have you looked into your dll.xml? (C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX)

There must be the entry

FSUIPC 4

False

Modules\FSUIPC4.dll

best at the last place.

Be sure to open the dll.xml with editor so you don't get troubles with format

Second reason could be that you haven't clicked on "yes", after the "trust-question" at the first start of FS after installing the update...?

Is there an FSUIPC4 LOG file in the modules folder? When you say "disappeared", what do you mean? When was it last there?

but is there something wrong with FSUIPC4 Install:

Looks okay to me. What do you think is wrong? The only odd things is that there was no older FSUIPC4 to be replaced, yet you maintain there was one before which has "disappeared"!

Hi Pete!

The problem is, that there is not FSUIPC in the AddOn area of FSX like before. When it stopped function, I took all FSUIPC files away from the Modules folder and reinstalled FSUIPC. I know, I know, the cause of this mess sits here on his own

chair, I´m sure about that! My only defence is, that I´m 65 year old pensioner, for whom this computer world is quite unfamiliar. The english language is the other "stone in my shoe", sorry for that. You asked about FSUIPC LOG file. No, it is

not there. These are : FSUIPC Documents,747 OHD.MCRO, AP chart.MCRO, FSUIPC4 Install, FSUIPC4, MenuDemo.lua, TripleUse.lua and uipchist.bin. FSUIPC4 file text is by away just unreadable mix-up of letters, numbers and various hieroglyphs.

Should it be so? I really hope, you could help this old man who knows something about aviationhistory, but allmost nothing about computers!

Truly yours,

-Heikki-

The problem is, that there is not FSUIPC in the AddOn area of FSX like before.

I know. you said that already. But there is no problem shown in the Installer log file as you seemed to think.

I asked when was "before" -- i.e. when did you last see FSUIPC in the Add-Ons menu? That was one question. The other was to find the FSUIPC4. LOG file and show me it.

When it stopped function, I took all FSUIPC files away from the Modules folder and reinstalled FSUIPC.

When what "stopped function"? What happened between when it was there and was not?

Taking all files away and reinstalling would make no difference in any case, other than possibly losing any infomation relevant to the original problem, and maybe losing your Registration if it was registered.

You asked about FSUIPC LOG file. No, it is not there.

If by "FSUIPC4" you really mean "FSUIPC4.DLL", then of course it is a binary file, not text -- it is the module which is run in FS and called "FSUIPC4". It is program, not text.

If there is no log file at all (nor any INI file by the look of your list), then FSUIPC4 is not being loaded at all. That means the DLL.XML file is corrupted. Try deleting it and then re-installing FSUIPC4. (If you have any other SimConnect modules loading, best make a safe copy of it first).

Pete

Hi again Pete

You asked me when I last saw FSUIPC in the Add-Ons menu.Maybe two weeks ago or so, I can not remember it exactly.

I have installed and removed various add-ons several times during that time. I just suddenly noticed, that it is not

there any more. I really mean FSUIPC4.DLL because in the modules folder, there is only "FSUIPC4" without that ".DLL"

Now I would like to know, where that DDL.XML, which you asked me to delete, is and where can I find that SimConnect

module, that I could copy it first. As you clearly can see, I do not understand anything about these matters!

I hope, you have forbearance a little bit. I have more enthusiasm than intelligence !

Hi again Pete

You probably got the DLL.XML file messed up in all that. Not all installers / uninstallers treat that file properly.

I really mean FSUIPC4.DLL because in the modules folder, there is only "FSUIPC4" without that ".DLL"

I think you are using Windows Explorer with that default option set to hide filetypes it knows like .EXE, .INI, .CFG, .LOG and .DLL. That FSUIPC4 must be FSUIPC4.DLL -- look at the column in Explorer headed "Type". What does it say there?

If you want to see the REAL filename, so you won't confuse yourself, then in Explorer select Tools- Folder Options - View , and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

Now I would like to know, where that DDL.XML, which you asked me to delete

You mean DLL.XML, and now you aren't making sense because earlier onin this thread, when "guenseli" kindly answered you whilst I was away, you said:

These were OK:

FSUIPC 4

False

Modules\FSUIPC4.dll

How could you confirm that the DLL.XML file entry was okay if you couldn't find it? Don't you see that makes no sense, or have you just forgotten?

The Install log (which did NOT show anything wrong even though you said it did) gives the location of the DLL.XML (it is in the same folder as FSX.CFG), i.e. here:

C:\Users\Heikki Soini\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

... and where can I find that SimConnect module, that I could copy it first.

You do NOT want to mess about with any of that. Why would you think that? Leave it alone!

I hope, you have forbearance a little bit. I have more enthusiasm than intelligence !

Not too much intelligence is needed, just more careful reading really.

Regards

Pete
