keithr43 Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Hi Before we go any further its my fault for not reading the manual properly. I have a new PC and I have been installing FSX plus other associated software and last night I installed FS Commander. During this process it asked if I wanted to install FSUIPC4 to which without thinking I said yes (I already have a registered copy of FSUIPC4 on my old machine). This morning again without thinking I ran FSX and it came up with the first security box and instead of clicking the Don't Run' box I went and clicked the 'Run' Box. As a consequence of this FSX now hangs after the opening screen saying 'Loading Complete"' Reading the manual it tells me to d/l a fresh copy of FSUIPC4.DDl Can you tell me where I can find this please and any other assistance you can give me to get FSX running again would be much appreciated. Regards Keith
Andydigital Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Download links > Updated Modules Next time Peter updates the page above the link will no longer function. Pete maybe it would be better to leave the date out of the thread title and add the date to the thread description instead then links won't be broken.

It sounds like the known SimConnect bug. There's another thread on this subject which I explained in great detail the options you might have. See . If that doesn't sound like your problem i need to see the Install log file, and if there is one, the FSUIPC4.LOG file. Both from the FSX Modules folder. Regards Pete

Hmm. Does the thread description show up in the brief list? I'll try it. I still haven't got the hang of this new forum software yet! ;-) Pete

keithr43 Posted December 27, 2010 Author Report Posted December 27, 2010 Thanks Pete for the prompt reply. I will go to the link and let you know how I get on Regards Keith Hi Pete I thought I would wait at until after Christmas day before I reported back. Unfortunately I still have this problem of FSX not loading. I followed the instructions from the link and renamed the existing DLL.XML file (there was no EXE.XML) to something else then D/L from the sub forum FSUIPC 4.638. I installed it and ran FSX,got it to trust FSUIPC closed it and then deleted the new DLL.XML file it created and renamed back the previous DLL.XML. Sadly the problem still exists. I wanted to attach the FSUIPC Log file but it is telling me I am not permitted to upload this kind of file ( as a newbie to the Forum can you advise me how I get it over to you please. Regards Keith

Sadly the problem still exists. In that case there is another DLL you have installed which is clashing. It may be possible to juggle the order in the DLL.XML file to get over this. I've not heard of any incompatible DLLs yet, though, excepting an old out of date version of Actigate.DLL. Paste the DLL.XML file into a message here and I'll take a look. I wanted to attach the FSUIPC Log file but it is telling me I am not permitted to upload this kind of file Like the DLL.XML file it's only text in any case. Paste it into your message. Pete

Pete Dowson Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Herewith the DLL.XML file as requested That DLL.XML file is doing nothing more or less than the one FSUIPC would have installed and which you deleted. Yet you say one loads okay and the other doesn't? Makes no sense to me -- same thing, different result? If i were you i'd delete that DLL.XML file and just re-install FSUIPC again. That worked for you. Did you not find the FSUIPC log file this time? Regards Pete

Pete Dowson Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Thanks for perservering with me over this. I can't find a FSUIPC log file ... But in your earlier message you said "I wanted to attach the FSUIPC Log file" ... ? If there's no FSUIPC4.LOG file being created, then I don't think FSUIPC4 is ever running. Sorry, the Install log is fine. No hint of any problem there. Pete
