FSX Hangs and FSUPIC4.DDL

Recommended Posts

Hi

Before we go any further its my fault for not reading the manual properly. I have a new PC and I have been installing FSX plus other associated software and last night I installed FS Commander. During this process it asked if I wanted to install FSUIPC4 to which without thinking I said yes (I already have a registered copy of FSUIPC4 on my old machine). This morning again without thinking I ran FSX and it came up with the first security box and instead of clicking the Don't Run' box I went and clicked the 'Run' Box. As a consequence of this FSX now hangs after the opening screen saying 'Loading Complete"' Reading the manual it tells me to d/l a fresh copy of FSUIPC4.DDl Can you tell me where I can find this please and any other assistance you can give me to get FSX running again would be much appreciated.

Regards

Keith

Which manual tells you that?

It sounds like the known SimConnect bug. There's another thread on this subject which I explained in great detail the options you might have. See . If that doesn't sound like your problem i need to see the Install log file, and if there is one, the FSUIPC4.LOG file. Both from the FSX Modules folder.

Hmm. Does the thread description show up in the brief list? I'll try it. I still haven't got the hang of this new forum software yet! ;-)

Pete

Yes it does Pete, I've just had a look at a few of the posts on the forum and some of them have fairly long descriptions so your brief info should be able to fit no problem at all.

Hi Pete

I thought I would wait at until after Christmas day before I reported back. Unfortunately I still have this problem of FSX not loading. I followed the instructions from the link and renamed the existing DLL.XML file (there was no EXE.XML) to something else then D/L from the sub forum FSUIPC 4.638. I installed it and ran FSX,got it to trust FSUIPC closed it and then deleted the new DLL.XML file it created and renamed back the previous DLL.XML. Sadly the problem still exists. I wanted to attach the FSUIPC Log file but it is telling me I am not permitted to upload this kind of file ( as a newbie to the Forum can you advise me how I get it over to you please.

Regards

Keith

In that case there is another DLL you have installed which is clashing. It may be possible to juggle the order in the DLL.XML file to get over this. I've not heard of any incompatible DLLs yet, though, excepting an old out of date version of Actigate.DLL.

Paste the DLL.XML file into a message here and I'll take a look.

Like the DLL.XML file it's only text in any case. Paste it into your message.

That DLL.XML file is doing nothing more or less than the one FSUIPC would have installed and which you deleted. Yet you say one loads okay and the other doesn't? Makes no sense to me -- same thing, different result?

If i were you i'd delete that DLL.XML file and just re-install FSUIPC again. That worked for you.

Did you not find the FSUIPC log file this time?

Hi Pete

Thanks for perservering with me over this. I can't find a FSUIPC log file but before I go ahead and delete the existing DLL.XML file this is the FSUIPC4 Install file from the modules folder in the FSX directory if that helps at all;

Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.638

Looking in registry for FSX install path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0

Parameter"AppPath"

... >>> OK! FOUND FSX! <<< ...

Looking in registry for ESP install path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft ESP\1.0

Parameter"AppPath"

Not there, so looking in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft ESP\1.0

Parameter"SetupPath"

... NOT found! ...

Looking in registry for Prepar3D install path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D

Parameter"AppPath"

Not there, so looking in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D

Parameter"SetupPath"

... NOT found! ...

===========================================================

INSTALLATION FOR FSX:

AppPath="D:\FSX\"

Checking version of FSX.EXE:

... Version 10.0.61637.0 (Need at least 10.0.60905.0)

Checking compatibility with installed SimConnect:

Found SimConnect build 60905 (Original)

Found SimConnect build 61242 (SP1 May07)

Found SimConnect build 61259 (Acc/SP2 Oct07)

Checking if there's already a version of FSUIPC4 installed in:

D:\FSX\Modules\FSUIPC4.DLL

... Version 4.200 found.

FSX Modules folder already exists.

Okay -- installed FSUIPC4 into "D:\FSX\Modules\FSUIPC4.DLL"

Looking for the current user's Application Data path:

... found as "C:\Users\Keith\AppData\Roaming"

Now finding \Microsoft\FSX\FSX.CFG for all users, including this one

Looking in "C:\Users\All Users\AppData\Roaming"

... No FSX.CFG there

Looking in "C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming"

... No FSX.CFG there

Looking in "C:\Users\Default User\AppData\Roaming"

... No FSX.CFG there

Looking in "C:\Users\Keith\AppData\Roaming"

Found FSX.CFG in "C:\Users\Keith\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\FSX.CFG"

Now checking DLL.XML ...

... No previous DLL.XML found, creating new one.

Now checking for a SimConnect.XML file ...

... No SimConnect.XML file found. This is okay.

Looking in "C:\Users\Public\AppData\Roaming"

... No FSX.CFG there

"Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder created okay!

Now installing additional files into the "Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder:

Installed "FSUIPC4 User Guide.pdf" okay

Installed "FSUIPC4 for Advanced Users.pdf" okay

Installed "FSUIPC4 History.pdf" okay

Installed "List of FSX controls.pdf" okay

Installed "GlobalSign Root.exe" okay

Installed "FSUIPC Lua Library.pdf" okay

Installed "FSUIPC Lua Plug-Ins.pdf" okay

Installed "Lua License.pdf" okay

Installed "Lua Plugins for VRInsight Devices.pdf" okay

Installed "Example LUA plugins.zip" okay

FSUIPC4.DLL installed and signature checked out okay!

Deleted GlobalSign Root fix program ... no longer relevant

===========================================================

All installer tasks completed okay!

Registration check for FSUIPC4 and WideFS was cancelled or failed! (result code 30)

*************** End of Install Log ***************

Thanks for perservering with me over this. I can't find a FSUIPC log file ...

But in your earlier message you said "I wanted to attach the FSUIPC Log file" ... ?

If there's no FSUIPC4.LOG file being created, then I don't think FSUIPC4 is ever running.

Sorry, the Install log is fine. No hint of any problem there.

Pete
