nemo06
Hi, Since I installed version 3.99 of FSUIPC (registered), local suppression range in ASE no longer works. All options in FS9, ASE, FSUIPC have remained the same. I pushed by default and all wheather off in FSUIPC, but it served only once. FS9 and ASE are in C: (as before). No one has had this problem? Unfortunately, I have not stored FSUIPC 3.98 and I can not return to the previous version. Thanks
Pete Dowson
Since I installed version 3.99 of FSUIPC (registered), local suppression range in ASE no longer works. What is "local suppression range"? I assume it is something to do with the weather? There are no changes affecting any weather facilities in FSUIPC3 for a long long time. Unfortunately, I have not stored FSUIPC 3.98 and I can not return to the previous version. That's good, because you would get no support if you did. If there is a problem in 3.99 it will need to be resolved, but I cannot help without information. Have you asked ASE support? Maybe they can work out what is wrong and, if it does need something in FSUIPC, that can then be determined properly. Regards Pete

Even with local suppression range set to 200 nm, the weather change suddenly at the first update after few minutes (clouds popping). Jim suggested I ask you. Pete Dowson
Yes. Even with local suppression range set to 200 nm, the weather change suddenly at the first update after few minutes (clouds popping). What is "local suppression range"? What does it purport to do? Sorry, you need to explain. FSUIPC has no control over when weather changes in FS9. It just passes whatever Active Sky requests over. Jim suggested I ask you. Did he explain what this facility is supposed to do? Can he reproduce your problem? Perhaps if he knows about these things and thinks there's a new problem he could talk to me about it? I'm really completely missing what this is about entirely. Sorry. Regards Pete
JSkorna
Pete, No, I cannot reproduce this and this is the only report of this. I didn't think it was a new problem because of the lack of any other reports. I'll keep an eye on this and will communicate anything to you. Thanks. Pete Dowson
I'll keep an eye on this and will communicate anything to you. Okay. Thanks Jim. (I still don't know what the facility is supposed to do, BTW). Regards Pete
JSkorna
Hi Pete, Local Suppression prevents data updates within a certain radius around the plane. Example: you are flying over station ABCD and the weather is CAVOK. Now ASE downloads and updates and station ABCD now is reporting SCT clouds. Without local suppression those SCT clouds would pop into place immediately with no chance of a smooth transition. So AS continues to use the older data. Its the way we have been controlling weather changes due to new data being entered into the system. ASv6.5 has this as well.

If ASE isn't sending those changes, I wonder why this user is seeing them? FSUIPC doesn't apply any changes itself, and especially not to clouds. Of course it can limit changes (as in smoothing), but not make any. I think I see why you suspect it might be something peculiar to his specific system. Something odd with some settings someplace? Must be a coincidence that he's only just noticed after updating from FSUIPC 3.98 to 3.99. Thanks for the explanation. Pete

Pete Dowson
the only changes were FSUIPC 3.99 and Windows updates for Win 7 64bit. Nothing else. Still, there's no way FSUIPC can be making ASE send changes when it doesn't want to. Sorry, you need to look elsewhere. You could enable Weather logging in FSUIPC. when this anomaly occurs, close FS and check the log, see what weather inputs and changes are recorded there. If it is an ASE problem I would think this information would help. If you want me to look at it then paste a suitable extract here showing where it is occurring. Note, however, that I am on holiday soon until June so I may not get to it till then. Regards Pete

Pete Dowson
Okay, let's see (elminating anything buty cloud for now): 444540 NW_SET_PENDING weather command received, ICAO=LIAQ 444587 >NewSet: Cloud[0]: type=9, from 4670ft to 7890ft (+/- 100ft), cover=3, turb=1, topshape=0 Clouds for LIAQ set, but "pending", meaning not to be activated yet ... 444884 NW_SET_PENDING weather command received, ICAO=LIBA 444884 >NewSet: Cloud[0]: type=9, from 2700ft to 16155ft (+/- 100ft), cover=3, turb=3, topshape=0 445149 NW_SET_PENDING weather command received, ICAO=LIBT 445180 >NewSet: Cloud[0]: type=9, from 4364ft to 5580ft (+/- 100ft), cover=3, turb=1, topshape=0 445180 >NewSet: Cloud[1]: type=9, from 5584ft to 10250ft (+/- 100ft), cover=5, turb=1, topshape=0 445476 NW_SET_PENDING weather command received, ICAO=LIBE 445492 >NewSet: Cloud[0]: type=9, from 5300ft to 17300ft (+/- 100ft), cover=3, turb=2, topshape=0 446880 NW_SET_PENDING weather command received, ICAO=LIBU 446880 >NewSet: Cloud[0]: type=9, from 5020ft to 11030ft (+/- 100ft), cover=2, turb=1, topshape=0 447146 NW_SET_PENDING weather command received, ICAO=LIRH 447192 >NewSet: Cloud[0]: type=9, from 4094ft to 7795ft (+/- 100ft), cover=1, turb=3, topshape=0 447489 NW_SET_PENDING weather command received, ICAO=LIQT 447489 >NewSet: Cloud[0]: type=9, from 3680ft to 4650ft (+/- 100ft), cover=2, turb=2, topshape=0 447489 >NewSet: Cloud[1]: type=9, from 4650ft to 7310ft (+/- 100ft), cover=3, turb=1, topshape=0 Same for many other stations nearby, I assume. But the last one is strange in that it got an error from FS: 447489 ### SetStationWeather failed -- weather not set! Not sure how that can occur, except possibly that the weather station (LIQT) isn't known to FS. But, nevertheless, here's a command from ASE to activate all those "pending" weather settings: 448784 NW_ACTIVATE weather command received That request from ASE causes a weather set in FS. 16 seconds later, you loaded another flight. 474571 C:\Users\USER\Documents\Flight Simulator Files\UI generated flight.flt No idea why you did that. Nevertheless, I don't see anything FSUIPC can do which changes anything. What it does, weatherwise, is all under ASE's control, and you can see all that ASE does in the log. The failure to set the weather for LIQT is odd -- check to see if that is listed in the weatherstations.bin file in the same folder as your FS9.CFG folder. LIQT is Circeo, north of Rome. Strange because my plan was from Naples to Brindisi, south east. Thanks for your patience. Regards
Pete Dowson
LIQT is Circeo, north of Rome. Strange because my plan was from Naples to Brindisi, south east. LIQT wasn't set in any case. Are the others which were actually listed as being set inside or outside that "200 nm" range? When you say the clouds are re-drawn, are they the same cloud layers that were there before? I always thought the (same) cloud redraw problem occurred whenever the weather was being set anywhere, but maybe Active Sky manages it okay? Mind you I've not used FS9 for many years now so maybe I'm remembering incorrectly. FSUIPC doesn't draw clouds, except for the option to add a cirrus layer -- but didn't you say you had the FSUIPC weather options off? nemo06
Yes Jim, the clouds are the same. In ASE, there are three options to prevent the suddenly re-drawn of the clouds. : - download interval (mine is set at the maximum = 30 minutes) - local suppression range (mine is set at the maximum = 200 nm) - suppression ceiling (mine is set at 10,000 feet because I fly between 11,000 and15,000 feet) Now work only the last option. When I grow to more than 10000 feet (I did about 20 to 30 nm of flight), ASE send to FS9 the new weather after deleting the old (but the new and the old are equal). This is difficult to explain, English is not my language, sorry. Regards
