Mr.V Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 Hi, I installed FSUIPC in FSX and now when I want to use FSRAAS 2.0 there is no sound coming up. In the FSUIPC .ini there is no [sound] section existing. How can I manage it, that the soundcard and sound settings are recognised by the fsuipc ini Can anyone help me with that issue? Thanks in advance
Pete Dowson Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 I installed FSUIPC in FSX and now when I want to use FSRAAS 2.0 there is no sound coming up.In the FSUIPC .ini there is no [sound] section existing. How can I manage it, that the soundcard and sound settings are recognised by the fsuipc ini FSRAAS doesn't use FSUIPC for sound. The sound card details in the INI file are only used by the FSUIPC Lua plug-in sound playing facilities. However, the fact that neither FSRAAS nor FSUIPC sees the sound card is probably a symptom of the same problem. Your card probably isn't installed correctly, or at least the drivers aren't registered in the Windows registry. Try uninstalling via the Windows device manager and letting Windows reinstall. How is FS sound working? Is that using a different sound output? Pete
Mr.V Posted September 8, 2013 Author Report Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) No FS uses the same output /soundcard and its working properly The fact that RAAS would use the fsuipc sound entry, I read in a post made by the developer of the FSRAAS software There is even one sound of FSRAAS coming up when entering the runway, its "on runway" but the runway direction and all other sound from raas are missing Edited September 8, 2013 by Mr.V
Pete Dowson Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 No FS uses the same output /soundcard and its working properly The fact that RAAS would use the fsuipc sound entry, I read in a post made by the developer of the FSRAAS software Hmm. Very strange then. Maybe they are using the FSUIPC offset facilities, the same ones Lua uses. Are you sure your FSUIPC isn't very much out of date? They were added in version 4.70 in April 2011 as a feature for Registered Users. I assume you have Registered correctly? There is even one sound of FSRAAS coming up when entering the runway, its "on runway" I wonder, then, how it does that if it can't find the sound card? That makes no sense at all. I think you need help from the author. If you add these lines to the [General] section of the INI file: Debug=Please LogExtras=32 then FSUIPC will log sound details.Do that and show me the Log file, but close FSX down first. Pete
Mr.V Posted September 8, 2013 Author Report Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) Cool, I will try that! PS: where is the log file generated? The version is the most actual one, but I use the free version (as instructed by the fsraas manual) Mr.V Edited September 8, 2013 by Mr.V
Pete Dowson Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 Cool, I will try that! PS: where is the log file generated? Same place as the INI file you must already have looked at! The version is the most actual one, but I use the free version (as instructed by the fsraas manual) There's only one current version (soon to be 4.92). The difference in facilities depends whether you pay for a key and register it. There are no Lua plug-in sound facilities in FSUIPC for unregistered users. Regards Pete
Mr.V Posted September 8, 2013 Author Report Posted September 8, 2013 well there is no other log file in the same folder after I made these two entrys I already used fsraas together with fsuipc in the unregistered version last year and until I set up my PC new (without hardware changes) early this year. It was after my new installations when these problems came up!
Pete Dowson Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 well there is no other log file in the same folder after I made these two entrys I already used fsraas together with fsuipc in the unregistered version last year and until I set up my PC new (without hardware changes) early this year. It was after my new installations when these problems came up! What do you mean by 'other'? There's only one log file, and there is ALWAYS a log file produced if FSUIPC is ever run. If there's no log file then FSUIPC has never been run. I suspect you don't know what you are looking at. Please see the FSUIPC installation or user guides for details of how to find files in Windows Explorer. Pete

Pete Dowson Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 Well, it is the same problem except the originator never gave you an anwer to your request of dialog file by fsuipc:. The problem being that some program trying to use FSUIPC for sound makes no sound? I see in the log you supplied that an error occurred on one of the Sound requests. A similarly named WAV file was played earlier, but from a different folder: "C:\Users\MABE\Desktop\PC-Seldom\Approaching.wav". In fact ALL of the previous WAV files which played okay were in the "C:\Users\MABE\Desktop\PC-Seldom" folder, so why is this now from "C:\MS_Games\FsRaas20"? The most likely cause of this crash in DirectSound is a corrupt wave file. Perhaps you could try playing it directly, in Windows Media player? FSRAAS used to work fine until third quater of last year. Maybe that was when it got corrupted? Have you tried reinstalling FSRAAS? Personally I'd be more concerned over those Simconnect stalls. Something is causing that. PS: If you insist, I can open a new thread. Too late now., though the problem adding to this one is that the title " FSUIPC.ini does not recognize soundcard"does not apply in your case, obviously, And his exact reported problem was "In the FSUIPC .ini there is no [sound] section existing.". Pete Dowson Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 This is the dialog under a better and to the point setup of MSFSX. Same comments as for previous log. Did you check that wave file? This log is less informative in that it only shows that one bad wave file, not the others which were okay. Why are you getting SimConnect disconnections? Why is this "a more to the point" setup? Pete
mabe54 Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 Pete, The plot thickens. Okay, I have to do it right but I did it too fast in the first Dialog I sent you. Let me explain. The program FSRAAS doesn't install (in the Windows registry) you just unzipped somewhere (I placed mine in the main of FSX as subfolder) and all the files are in it, nothing in the outside of the subfolder. Note-1: Why do I mean by I did it right or it was too fast?: Normally I have a subfolder PC-Seldon in the Desktop for all programs for unclutter purposes. So to do it right and not fast I go to the subfolder for FSRASS in MS_Game (FSX location) and open the program from there and not from PC-Seldon. If I do it from PC-Seldon, FSRAAS comes back saying it can't find r4.cvs file. That is new and weird but it did started at the same time the FSRAAS started not working properly. Starting the program directly from its subfolder gives me better results and doesn't come back asking for the address or location of r4.cvs. Just weird. Every sound wav file sound perfectly in Windows Media Player. Why is this "a more to the point" setup? I stopped FSX to stop FSUIPC dialog and start a new one. So, I started FSRAAS the right way (directly from its own subfolder) and then FSX again. I thought that would unclutter the dialog file a bit. My bad. Why are you getting SimConnect disconnections? Why is this "a more to the point" setup? I really do not know. I am hoping you have a way to check it out somehow. Cheers and thanks, MAB

Pete Dowson Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Okay, I have to do it right but I did it too fast in the first Dialog I sent you. Let me explain. The program FSRAAS doesn't install (in the Windows registry) you just unzipped somewhere (I placed mine in the main of FSX as subfolder) and all the files are in it, nothing in the outside of the subfolder. But the first log shows waves from both C:\Users\MABE\Desktop\PC-Seldom and from C:\MS_Games\FsRaas20 Are you saying you closed FSRAAS down and started it again, and that is the reason? The same wave played okay when you used the Desktop folder, so there's something bad happening when you run it from the FS folder. I'm afraid I've no idea what is going wrong with your sound system -- the crash is occurring in Directsound somewhere. Can't the author of FSRAAS help at all? Maybe reinstalling your sound drivers night help? I really do not know. I am hoping you have a way to check it out somehow. No. The only way I know for SimConnect messages to stop arriving is because FSX is not getting enough processor time -- in other words it is overloaded or being prevented from executing for more than a second -- the timeoutr for data which FSUIPC uses by default.. What sort of frame rates are you getting? Pete

Yes but a bit longer story, When I did the first dialog, I started everything from Desktop\PC-Seldon then I came out FSRAAS and reopened it from its location MS_Game\FSRAAS20 without stopping FSX (nor FSUIPC) and that is why you see both in the log. The second Dialog was starting FSX (FSUIPC) and FSRAAS from its location and getting the log up to the point where the exception came up. The same wave played okay when you used the Desktop folder, so there's something bad happening when you run it from the FS folder. Except those files were never heard off. Only one time sound: "Approaching" then nothing anymore. I'm afraid I've no idea what is going wrong with your sound system -- the crash is occurring in Directsound somewhere. Pete Dowson Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Yes but a bit longer story, When I did the first dialog, I started everything from Desktop\PC-Seldon then I came out FSRAAS and reopened it from its location MS_Game\FSRAAS20 without stopping FSX (nor FSUIPC) and that is why you see both in the log. The second Dialog was starting FSX (FSUIPC) and FSRAAS from its location and getting the log up to the point where the exception came up. Except those files were never heard off. Only one time sound: "Approaching" then nothing anymore. The first part shows several sounds being sent to DirectSound. Interestingly, though, now I've looked it up, IPC: Status Response=3 means "sound has ended or reference not listed". But this occurs in the same millisecond as the sound request itself, which does suggest that the wave file can't be accessed by DirectSound, so the only time it crashes is when you use the sound files in the FS subfolder, so that's the only time it manages to access the file. You say it does actually play it before crashing, which is interesting. The sound facilities in FSUIPC being used here date back right to FS2000 days or maybe even before, and have never been changed. They are also the ones used by the Lua plug-in sound library, and many folks are using that for assorted things. I was using FSRAAS for some time before the payware FS2Crew RAAS Pro came out -- I find that a lot better in any case, and worth the money. I'll reinstall FSRAAS and see if I get any errors, but it is looking very like some sort of DirectSound problem. Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling your sound device so that the drivers get reinstalled? Or even trying different drivers? Yeap, the complete black box syndrome. Sorry, is that the answer to my question "what sort of frame rates are you getting"? I don't understand. I can't understand something worked for two years and now can even find files in its own directory. "Desktop" isn't really a directory, it's your desktop. It holds all the things you can see on screen. If you installed all of the wave files, and so on, on the screen you'd see them all, and it might then work, but i suspect you were trying to run the EXE on the screen with none of its supporting files. Maybe you meant to make a shortcut but instead dragged the EXE itself? Pete
mabe54 Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Pete, IPC: Status Response=3 means "sound has ended or reference not listed". Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling your sound device so that the drivers get reinstalled? Or even trying different drivers? First, I have the sound card of the motherboard (default) and a Sound Blaster on board also. So I switched. Same results. Running FSRAAS directly from its own subfolder. FSX sounds okay with no interruptions or problems. Second, I came across the Lua-plu-in while catching up with my reading. I do not enough to figure out if there is an overlapping with the sound addresses. Third, did the author got a hold of this: http://www.simflight.com/2013/05/05/important-news-for-fsuipc-users/#more-40061 who knows. Still no answers from him. Yeap, the complete black box syndrome. Sorry, is that the answer to my question "what sort of frame rates are you getting"? I don't understand. No, I was talking or referring to Simconnect as a black box to me. My frame rates at the time of test has been 29-30 FPS. No Pete. PC-Seldon is full of shortcuts for different programs. My Desktop doesn't have any resident programs in it at all. Before this ordeal everything was launched from PC-Seldon which is what I prefer. Cheers,
mabe54 Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Pete, This is the log with FSRAAS v1.1 (original) running as administrator from its own location (not PC-Seldon). Unfortunatelly it came first with I can't find r4.cvs file while pointing at its own directory where the file is. I which FSRAAS included a neck. After that the program goes without exceptions and you can see the *.wav parading or cascading. But no sounds whatsoever. By the way, chose all WAV files and played them all with Sound Blaster in control. They all sounded but to me like a laughter. Third, did the author got a hold of this: http://www.simflight.com/2013/05/05/important-news-for-fsuipc-users/#more-40061 who knows. Can't see any relevance there. My frame rates at the time of test has been 29-30 FPS. So, not overloaded. But something most certainly is preventing things running correctly. I think you need to find out what is stopping Simconnect occasionally. It should never happen. I wouldn't be surprised it is wasn't related to the sound problem. No Pete. PC-Seldon is full of shortcuts for different programs. My Desktop doesn't have any resident programs in it at all. Before this ordeal everything was launched from PC-Seldon which is what I prefer. Ah, sorry, yes. PC-Seldon is a folder on the desktop. It's still on the desktop though. I've never tried running programs that way. Pete
Pete Dowson Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 This is the log with FSRAAS v1.1 (original) running as administrator You are using version 2, though, normally, surely? Why "as administrator"? Are you also running FS "as administrator"? If not they shouldn't be able to talk to each other. I've never found any need to run anything but Installers "as administrator". from its own location (not PC-Seldon). So how come it is trying to play all the waves from PC-Seldon? We saw from earlier that none of them are found -- the status return 3 I already mentioned. Unfortunatelly it came first with I can't find r4.cvs file while pointing at its own directory where the file is. What is this "r4.cvs". Do you really mean the "r4.csv" file generated by my MakeRunways program, in the main FS folder? you can see the *.wav parading or cascading. But no sounds whatsoever. Yes, exactly as before -- it cannot get the sound files from PC-Seldon. The only time it got to play anything was from the FS subfolder. We've been through all that already. PS: Note, I didn't get not even the single "Approaching". Because you only get that when using the FS folder. See above. I don't understand why you send another log just showing exactly the same. Note that you are always getting the 81589 **** No SimConnect events or states being received! Re-connecting now ... **** problem. You should never get that except through overloading. Something is seriously wrong. Pete
Pete Dowson Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 I've downloaded and installed FSRAAS 2.0, and just tried it taxiing to and onto a runway. I enabled the same logging as you so you can see what you should get. I installed it in E:\FSRAAS, not in my FS folder (E:\FSX) but next door. I do not run either "as administrator". All the sounds played correctly. Here's the relevant part of the log. you can see that I get status 1, meaning it is playing, and I get the relevant messages after each sound showing it completing. 132757 LogOptions changed, now 00000000 00000211 133131 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=Y, In Menu=N, In Dlg=N 141056 Memory in use: 1172Mb, Avail=2924Mb 201241 Memory in use: 1235Mb, Avail=2861Mb 216950 Sound: Ref 37, via IPC: Cmd=1, Wave="E:\FSRAAS\Approaching.wav" 216950 Sound: Id 256, PlayNow("E:\FSRAAS\Approaching.wav") 216950 Sound: Id 256, PlayTheSound("E:\FSRAAS\Approaching.wav") 216950 Sound: EnumDevice=Primary Sound Driver 216950 Sound: EnumDevice=Speakers (5- High Definition Audio Device) 216950 Sound: EnumDevice=Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (5- High Definition Audio Device) 216950 Sound: EnumDevice=Realtek HDMI Output (Realtek High Definition Audio) 217075 Sound: Ref 37, IPC: Status Response=1 218011 Sound: Id 256 DeActivate: sound not playing now ... 218011 Sound: Id 256 EndPlay: releasing buffer 218011 Sound: Id 0 EndPlay: all done! 218074 Sound: Ref 6, via IPC: Cmd=1, Wave="E:\FSRAAS\06.wav" 218074 Sound: Id 256, PlayNow("E:\FSRAAS\06.wav") 218074 Sound: Id 256, PlayTheSound("E:\FSRAAS\06.wav") 218120 Sound: Ref 6, IPC: Status Response=1 219306 Sound: Ref 40, via IPC: Cmd=1, Wave="E:\FSRAAS\Left.wav" 219306 Sound: Id 255, PlayNow("E:\FSRAAS\Left.wav") 219306 Sound: Id 255, PlayTheSound("E:\FSRAAS\Left.wav") 219322 Sound: Ref 40, IPC: Status Response=1 219337 Sound: Id 256 DeActivate: sound not playing now ... 219337 Sound: Id 256 EndPlay: releasing buffer 219337 Sound: Id 0 EndPlay: all done! 219961 Sound: Id 255 DeActivate: sound not playing now ... 219961 Sound: Id 255 EndPlay: releasing buffer 219961 Sound: Id 0 EndPlay: all done! 241240 Sound: Ref 38, via IPC: Cmd=1, Wave="E:\FSRAAS\On Runway.wav" 241240 Sound: Id 256, PlayNow("E:\FSRAAS\On Runway.wav") 241240 Sound: Id 256, PlayTheSound("E:\FSRAAS\On Runway.wav") 241287 Sound: Ref 38, IPC: Status Response=1 242566 Sound: Id 256 DeActivate: sound not playing now ... 242566 Sound: Id 256 EndPlay: releasing buffer 242566 Sound: Id 0 EndPlay: all done! 242644 Sound: Ref 6, via IPC: Cmd=1, Wave="E:\FSRAAS\06.wav" 242644 Sound: Id 256, PlayNow("E:\FSRAAS\06.wav") 242644 Sound: Id 256, PlayTheSound("E:\FSRAAS\06.wav") 242659 Sound: Ref 6, IPC: Status Response=1 243845 Sound: Ref 40, via IPC: Cmd=1, Wave="E:\FSRAAS\Left.wav" 243845 Sound: Id 255, PlayNow("E:\FSRAAS\Left.wav") 243845 Sound: Id 255, PlayTheSound("E:\FSRAAS\Left.wav") 243861 Sound: Ref 40, IPC: Status Response=1 243861 Sound: Id 256 DeActivate: sound not playing now ... 243861 Sound: Id 256 EndPlay: releasing buffer 243861 Sound: Id 0 EndPlay: all done! 244469 Sound: Id 255 DeActivate: sound not playing now ... 244469 Sound: Id 255 EndPlay: releasing buffer 244469 Sound: Id 0 EndPlay: all done! 245311 Sound: Ref 54, via IPC: Cmd=1, Wave="E:\FSRAAS\Flaps.wav" 245311 Sound: Id 256, PlayNow("E:\FSRAAS\Flaps.wav") 245311 Sound: Id 256, PlayTheSound("E:\FSRAAS\Flaps.wav") 245343 Sound: Ref 54, IPC: Status Response=1 246528 Sound: Id 256 DeActivate: sound not playing now ... 246528 Sound: Id 256 EndPlay: releasing buffer 246528 Sound: Id 0 EndPlay: all done! 251021 Ready Flags: Ready-To-Fly=Y, In Menu=Y, In Dlg=Y 251021 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 117 secs = 29.7 fps 261816 System time = 04/03/2014 15:54:19, Simulator time = 15:53:01 (15:53Z) 261816 *** FSUIPC log file being closed Average frame rate for running time of 170 secs = 28.2 fps G3D fix: Passes 13920, Null pointers 0, Bad pointers 0, Separate instances 0 Memory managed: 136 Allocs, 136 Freed ********* FSUIPC Log file closed *********** Hope this helps. I really don't think I can do any more. Maybe your two major problems are linked, maybe not. First off, though, I suggest you delete all your FSRAAS stuff, download version 2.0, just place its folder somewhere near FS (not on the desktop), and see how that goes. I would be wary of using the desktop for whole folders of programs. Folders of shortcuts, yes, but not programs and wave files. I do see that your "r4.cvs" file is really "r4.csv", and you should consider replacing that with a freshly generated one if you have any add-on airports. Pete
mabe54 Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 So, no crash now? No chrashes no sound. What Lua plug-in? What do you mean by "sound address"? I can't figure out what you are talking about here. Sorry. I am completely in the dark on this anomaly. I have FSX only in my Desktop (PC) and ussually I go absent from home for 2 or 3 months at the time. Last year I came back around November and this FSRAAS came to be out of the blue. At first, I didn't pay too much attention to it and thought it was a temp glitch of some sort. So now, here I am. Hence, I am trying to go backwards with things that might have changed. The Lua plug-in and the security problem came with/in FSUIPC (for me) at the same time (November). All the above changes came before November but for me they started that month after my absence. I am just going over any changes last year in my mind and reading. Looking for something. Can't see any relevance there. At this point I trying, guessing, looking for anything out of the ordinary. My PC keeps working normaly and the only puzzle in FSRAAS (I still have v1.1 and also V2.0 and I get the same results with either one). So, not overloaded. But something most certainly is preventing things running correctly. I think you need to find out what is stopping Simconnect occasionally. It should never happen. I wouldn't be surprised it is wasn't related to the sound problem. But it does by the log and consistenly too. No clues about it at the moment. I do not mess around with it, evert. Ah, sorry, yes. PC-Seldon is a folder on the desktop. It's still on the desktop though. I've never tried running programs that way. A way to unclutter the Desktop. It has always worked up until now with this FSRAAS. Cheers,
