golfcart22 Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 Pete, ASN was released this evening and I have a quick question. From the screen shot you can notice the Hook Errors I'm receiving only after I installed ASN. If I do not trust the as_btstrp.dll I will not receive the error. I've read from older posts that these have something to do with weather.dll and wind smoothing options. Everything actually appears to be working but since I saw these errors I figured I would report them. If there is anything I can do to assist here than please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks Tony
Andydigital Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 This is normal and to be expected if you are using ASN, from FSUIPC version 4.924 onwards you will no longer see these warnings as they will be suppressed.
Pete Dowson Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 ASN was released this evening and I have a quick question. I've read from older posts that these have something to do with weather.dll and wind smoothing options. Ah, HiFi beat me to the release! I'm at the final stages of preparing version 4.924 for release today. This suppresses those error messages when it detects as_btstrp.dll running. ASN uses the same hooks into the weather system as FSUIPC does for wind, temperature and pressure smoothing. There is no need and no point in FSUIPC also trying to do the same thing in any case, so the FSUIPC hooks aren't needed. Please do not worry about them -- update to 4.924 when available. There's also a new facility in 4.924 which can provide a display of ASN's plan weather weather data on WideFS clients. Andy -- you beat me to it, too! ;-) Regards Pete
golfcart22 Posted December 9, 2013 Author Report Posted December 9, 2013 Thanks guys - once again, you are the best Pete! ASN looks like a winner in my book.

There is no need and no point in FSUIPC also trying to do the same thing in any case, so the FSUIPC hooks aren't needed. Regards Pete If ASN integrates / maninpulates weather the same as FSUIPC does, does this mean that if using ASN with FSUIPC 4.926, the settings for weather smoothing and turbulence / gusts / varience suppression in FSUIPC will have no effect? In only ask because i am in the process of reinstalling Windows, and was wondering what settings in FSUIPC i should use. With Active Sky Evo and 2012, the guys over at FSLabs suggested this in the fsuipc.ini file: TurbulenceRate=0.5,2.5 TubulenceDivisor=40,40,80,80 If this is no longer needed, then i can cross that off my installation checklist! :) Thanks, -A
Andydigital Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 You can cross it off the list, ASN takes over completely in this regard and ignores whatever FSUIPC has in its ini file, same goes for FSX.cfg too. The only thing it doesn't override is the cloud density slider, make sure that is full right in FSX and all will be good.
aburley Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks, Andy! Now that the ASN patch is out, cant wait for my EGLL-KSFO flight tomrw!
