snalz Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) Hi Pete, i use a prior stable two computers network configuration for FSX SP2. Since installed new hifi AS2012 to ASN upgrade in combination with an FSUIPC installer update 4.927a i get FSX CTD´s within 30 minutes into every flight. At one flight "sim1.dll" was the error module according to win7 event screen. Here several log files and the CTD event report so you can read out a possible error source? Pete Dowson Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 Since installed new hifi AS2012 to ASN upgrade in combination with an FSUIPC installer update 4.927a i get FSX CTD´s within 30 minutes into every flight. At one flight "sim1.dll" was the error module according to win7 event screen. Here several log files and the CTD event report so you can read out a possible error source? Unfortunately not as neither of the crash reports you provide actually identify a module. I've usually found stackhash type errors, as one of yours is, are a result of overloading in FSX -- either memory corruption when the memory use is nearing a critical point, or some complex add-on or scenery. If you believe it is related to ASN + FSUIPC, which you appear to imply, please make sure all weather options are turned off in FSUIPC and ASN is running before you start FSX. From what I've heard from HiFi this helps. I think they are looking at assorted reports like yours at the moment. I've also supplied them with an updated FSUIPC, which you can also try if you wish (link: FSUIPC4927e.zip) but I don't this will have anything to do with actual crashes, at least not from the FSUIPC side of things, so it may not help. I don't know -- HiFi are looking at it.. I'm just preparing to leave for a short holiday -- back on January 9th, so I'm afraid I won't be able to evaluate any more results in this matter for a while. Certainly ASN + FSUIPC 4.927a have behaved impeccably for me and friends on all flights since they were released, so I'm sure it is not a general problem and may actually not be attributed to either product. Whenever I've had the stackHash type error, which is rarely, I've found solutions lie in the direcxtion of reducing some of the loading on FS. Regards Pete
snalz Posted December 28, 2013 Author Report Posted December 28, 2013 Thanks for reply Pete, ok. But be so kind and confirm that my reports and posted files are free of any error sources. Thanks
Pete Dowson Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 But be so kind and confirm that my reports and posted files are free of any error sources. Sorry, I'm not really sure what you mean, but if you want me to find error messages then the only ones I see are the two crash reports you included. Pete
snalz Posted December 28, 2013 Author Report Posted December 28, 2013 I have my knowlage in real aviation, not in computers, sorry. Beside the crash reports, do you see any error sources/wrong/missing entries at my attached log files, FSUIPC.ini ? Is eyerything ok?
Pete Dowson Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 Yes. Got to go now ... back on Jan 9th... Pete

"my FSX sever adress" at simconnect.xml is filled with the correct adress. Hi Pete, have a nice holiday . @all At my tests i did exactly the same flight several times to find a solution, now the flight was without any issue for the first time. I did two things: - Installed Pete´s new FSUIPC.dll (4927e) - Deleted the quoted section of my "simconnect.XML" on FSX server computer. It seems that was my fault entering an additional port (445) for using Hifisim ASN. Hifisim documentation informed about that port but there is no need to modify any simconnect.XML if prior AS2012 was installed using port 500. I think one of these things did it.
Andydigital Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 It is recommended that Simconnect should use port 500, port 445 is used by ASN's module called AS_Connect, so if you had Simconnect set to this too it's no wonder you had problems, only one program can use a single port at any one time.
Andydigital Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 Also looking at your first post with the Simconnect.xml, if yours really looks like that then it is surprising it works at all, you repeated the same code many times over with different ports in each section. Please see the ASN manual for the correct format of that file, yours is far too long.
snalz Posted December 29, 2013 Author Report Posted December 29, 2013 Hi Andydigital, the faulty entry was my manually inserted port 445 that collides with AS_Connect. It was a wrong interpretation of the ASN manual instructions. All the other simconnect.XML entrys at my FSX server computer are ok.To remember i excluded nearly all possible programs to my client computer. This is my "general" simconnect.XML located in the same folder as FSX.cfg is located. -Port 500 for AS2012 or/and ASN -Port 6811 is IVAO IvAp -Port 4506 is PlanG Each of this excluded programms own simconnect file within its program folder is also edited manually inserting my FSX server adress. Worked since years without bigger issues.

I use networked computer configuration and the ports within simconnect.XML are different ones. Did i something wrong? How should it be instead of my solution? Kind regards

Andydigital Posted December 30, 2013 Report Posted December 30, 2013 Simconnect only needs one connection and one port to service all addons that use simconnect as a means of interfacing with FSX, you are not required to open multiple ports for diffferent programs.

Andydigital Posted December 30, 2013 Report Posted December 30, 2013 See my previous post, you only require one port for all programs, I don't know where you got the simconnect.1 simconnect.2 business from but its not required.

Many thanks, ok Andy. So my further actions are: Marked in red color below Additional here is the rest of my present Network configuration to make sure my modification i now will carry out are correct and complete: FSX Server simconnect.XML path: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX \SimConnect.xml - This will now get your modified version of my current one <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> <SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0"> <Descr>SimConnect</Descr> <Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol> <Scope>global</Scope> <Address>my FSX server adress</Address> <MaxClients>64</MaxClients> <Port>4506</Port> <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize> <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle> </SimConnect.Comm> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>Auto</Protocol> <Scope>local</Scope> </SimConnect.Comm> </SimBase.Document> = OK simconnect.ini path: C:\Users\[user]\Documents\Flight Simulator X-Files\ -> the file now gets completely deleted ? Kind regards In the end there is only one simconnect.XML file left at FSX server computer and ASN,IvAp and PlanG will work in networked configuration? Only for my clarification. Again, i can get real aircrafts flying but not connecting two FSX computers for networked operation. Sorry for that, it is not my domain :???:
Andydigital Posted December 30, 2013 Report Posted December 30, 2013 Make backups of everything just in case it does stop working and you can then restore everything, but yes by my understanding of Simconnect most of the above is correct. Do not delete the simconnect.ini file, its not doing any harm, I believe that is just for logging purposes, so removing it won't do an harm either. Also this below needs the red section removing, and the edit needs making in orange; simconnect.cfg path: C:\Users\[user]\Documents -> the file now gets completely deleted ? [simConnect]Protocol=IPv4Address=my FSX server adress Port=500 <-------- change this to 4506 the same as the simconnect.xml above.MaxReceiveSize=4096DisableNagle=0[simConnect.1]Protocol=IPv4Address=my FSX server adressPort=6811MaxReceiveSize=4096DisableNagle=0[simConnect.2]Protocol=IPv4Address=my FSX server adressPort=4506MaxReceiveSize=4096DisableNagle=0 simconnect.cfg path: C:\Program Files (x86)\IVAO\IvAp v2 -> without entering my FSX server adress, IvApV2 does not connect online at clients computer -> the file now gets completely deleted ? Yes as far as I understand it you shouldn't need the above in the IVAP folder. As I said though make backups of stuff that you delete so you can restore things if my advice is bad, I'm fairly certain its not though.
snalz Posted December 30, 2013 Author Report Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks, my first short test shows, that IvAp does not connect. All the other client computer programs seems to work. But what me makes perplex is that each user manuals (AS2012,(ASN), IvAp, FsMap) have a special section where simconnect network configuration is described. Every manual says that both, simconnect.XML (FSX server) and simconnect.cfg (client) has to be modified as per manual. So recently both files looks like my corrected previous versions. Additionally am wondering that FsMap manual advices "port 500" as well as Hifisim AS2012/ASN. Doesn´t same port 500 for two different client programs disturb?
Andydigital Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 I don't fly online so I have no experience with IVAP, but it may be a unique case in that it expects to find the simconnect.cfg file in its own folder, simply make a copy of the simconnect.cfg file from your Documents folder and paste it to the IVAP folder you mention above. Hopefully that fixes it. All apps should be using the same Simconnect port number, in your case 4506. Simconnect is more or less the same as WideFS from FSUIPC, i.e. only one port it used to link the FS server PC to the Client PC i.e. where you are running your maps and other FS related addons. It doesn't matter what the port number is as long as it is configured the same at both FSX server and client PC. The port must also must not be being used by some other program/processes that are not related to simconnect. I know that sounds confusing, but multiple programs designed to use Simconnect can share the same port, other none FS programs that don't use Simconnect cannot share ports at the same time.
snalz Posted December 31, 2013 Author Report Posted December 31, 2013 Hi Andydigital, i do not understand all the background - but i really do not want to know it. I simply want to fly using networked configuration  . I am not really sure if anybody knows exactly how the configs should be look like. And if it did, i would be very happy someone can confirm a correct config. Ok, good to know that you do not use IvAp, so there is a difference between our basic config. I am still confused about your version that contrary to the IvAp/AS2012/ASN/FsMap- manuals there is no need to enter the ports as described. I think simconnect uses port 6810, right?
Andydigital Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 It can use any port you like as long as there is nothing else on your PC that is already using that port for something else unrelated to FSX. Use the default MSFS selected port of 4506. By the way my name is Andy, its in my signature, Andydigital is just my screen name.

Additionally am wondering that FsMap manual advices "port 500" as well as Hifisim AS2012/ASN. Doesn´t same port 500 for two different client programs disturb? After this try (see above) i went back to my default files. So at FSX server computer i inserted my restored simconnect.XML. At Client computer i inserted my restored simconnect.cfg. Simconnect now does not work anymore. "AItraffic.exe" works at FSX Server computer, but not at Client computer. Cannot connect from Client to Server (planG/IvAp/ASN) What to do now??
snalz Posted January 4, 2014 Author Report Posted January 4, 2014 So, now i am back at my previous configuration without Port 445 within simconnect files. Windows restore function gave me the chance to restore client´s computer to a two days old state.
snalz Posted January 11, 2014 Author Report Posted January 11, 2014 Still have no solution for my regular "StackHash_e16f" CTD´s as described at initial post. Checked some different solutions or tried to find any errors. Sometimes after 30min, 1 hour or 2 hours that stackhash CTD accures. VAS is below 2,2 Gb. I have no idea what is causing that crashes after ASN was installed. Additional i installed Majestic DHD8 Update, but never loaded the plane into FSX since the update installation.
