NavyAce Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 Dear Mr. Dowson, I am hoping you can answer a question for me regarding FSUIPC as it relates to FlightSimCommander 9. I have just recently purchased and installed the latter, and I noticed during the last part of the process that I was being presented with several install boxes for FSUIPC before I could click Finish. I went ahead and clicked my way through the various steps and was given a message that said the process had completed and then a box for a 12 digit registration number appeared. Nowhere in the process did I receive such a number, or was I given instructions on where to find this piece of information. So I was forced to complete the installation with FSUIPC un-Registered. I am having a few problems with FSC 9 and I don't know if this has a bearing on anything or not. I am going to try uninstalling FSC 9 and reinstalling it to try and fix these problems, but in doing so I am going to see the FSUIPC installation boxes again. I need to know before I start this how I can obtain the registration key I am going to need. I notice upon reading about FSUIPC that this is given to you when you purchase the product, but I am evidently getting this as part of the FSC 9 purchase, so I have no separate transaction from which to obtain this information. I could purchase FSUIPC from you which would give me a number, but when installing FSUIPC from FSC 9 I don't know if the number would be valid, and I think that the version in FSC 9 is 3, whereas I believe you are offering 4 on your website. So now I am confused. Any help you can give me on sorting this out would be much appreciated. By the way, does FSC 9 require FSUIPC to work? Thanks for your time and consideration. Cheers, NavyAce Wayne

If not, that is very bad and you should go to the FSC 9 support forum and register a complaint. If you download FSUIPC yourself you get an Installation and Registration guide which explains things. I suggest you do that in any case as it is likely that the version you have is out of date and therefore unsupported. So I was forced to complete the installation with FSUIPC un-Registered. You only need to purchase and register FSUIPC if you want to make use of the user facilities int contains. Unregistered installs support applications in any case. By the way, does FSC 9 require FSUIPC to work? I would certainly assume so or it wouldn't be installed by the FSC 9 installer, would it? I'm amazed that there's no documentation supplied to tell you such things though. Really all your questions should be directed to their support forum. I really cannot support other folks' software. How did you find this support forum, by the way, if you have no information about FSUIPC? Pete
NavyAce Posted March 12, 2014 Author Report Posted March 12, 2014 Dear Mr. Dowson, I knew about FSUIPC as I have been considering it for my various FSX addons to create programs for my various aircraft to save their flight characteristics so that I don't have to keep reconfiguring FSX settings each time I change aircraft. But I have gotten busy with this other problem and never got around to ordering it. I found your forums through a search, and decided to try and contact you. If I understand you correctly, unregistered installs will work anyway? This would cover the FSC9 included version. If I want the latest version and purchase that (which I can then register), how do I get this installed the FSC9? Or is this addressed in the manual for the program? Thanks for your time and consideration. Wayne
NavyAce Posted March 12, 2014 Author Report Posted March 12, 2014 Dear Mr. Dowson, I have a follow up question. I decided to get FSUIPC and went to Simmarket to purchase it, and found that v4 there said that it was a program that was available since 2006, so over 8 years old! But on the schiratti.com website where the latest information is posted, it says that the newest version is 4.929, available since only 12 January this year. I wanted the latest version so I clicked on the link and found that I could download it for free, which I did. I know that you have to pay to get a registration key for the product, but when I went to Simmarket I couldn't find a link that would enable me to do that. I can get one by purchasing the older version of FSUIPC4, but then I would have two versions of the same product, the newer of which I wouldn't be able to register, and I want to use the newest version in FSC 9. Could you help me figure this out? Thanks for your time as always. Wayne
Pete Dowson Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 If I understand you correctly, unregistered installs will work anyway? It "works" in that it provides the interface into FS. That part of FSUIPC has always been free for end users, just normally subject to agreement for the application publishers -- in this case Aerosoft I assume. This would cover the FSC9 included version. If I want the latest version and purchase that (which I can then register), how do I get this installed the FSC9? Or is this addressed in the manual for the program? I simply advised you to install the current version, if you want my continued support. I also now suggest that after you install it you read some of the User manual before you decide whether you want to buy it. There's no point in buying it before you know whether you want to use the facilities that would provide! Installation is easy, and there's a document included which explains both installation and registration. I have a follow up question. I decided to get FSUIPC and went to Simmarket to purchase it, and found that v4 there said that it was a program that was available since 2006, so over 8 years old! Could you help me figure this out? Thanks for your time as always. There is no "older" version available -- FSUIPC version 4 was certainly first published for FSX, which was released in 2006. FSUIPC itself (version 1) was first published in 1999 -- for FS98 and FS2000, so really it is 15 years old! But it has been updated continuously since then and, as you have found, the latest version of the full Installation is 4.929. The link on SimMarket's purchase page is EXACTLY the same as the one on the Schiratti page. Both always get the current version. There's no point in downloading it again. If you have looked at the documentation and have decided you want to Register, just do so. You are NOT purchasing a downloadable file, just a key to unlock the user facilities in the version you have! There is also a subforum here called "Download Links" where interim updates are provided as well as lots of other useful things. There's even another link there to the full install. At present the latest interim update is 4.929c, released yesterday (12th March). Interim updates are simply replacement DLLs to be copied directly into the FS Modules folder. No installer. Pete
