FS9 update issue

Recommended Posts

I am trying to update my version of FSUIPC and WIDFS for FS9. I have both FS9 and FSX on the same computer. I have attached the log from my past attempt to update FS9.

Please see the log and advise, this is the first time this has happened to me.

Both FS9 and FSX are fully registered versions.

Installer for FSUIPC.DLL version 3.999z8

Looking in registry for FS9.1 install path:
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.1
     Parameter"EXE Path"
Not there, so looking in:
     HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.1
     Parameter"EXE Path"
... NOT found! ...
Looking in registry for FS9 install path:
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.0
     Parameter"EXE Path"
... >>>  OK! FOUND FS9!  <<< ...
===========================================================

INSTALLATION FOR FS9:
EXE Path="G:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\"
Checking if there's already a version of FSUIPC installed in:
       G:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSUIPC.DLL
... Version 3.999z found.
Okay -- installed FSUIPC into "G:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSUIPC.DLL"
"Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder already exists.
Now installing additional files into the "Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder:
   Installed "FSUIPC User Guide.pdf" okay
Installed "FSUIPC for Advanced Users.pdf" okay
   Installed "FSUIPC History.pdf" okay
Installed "List of FS2004 controls.pdf" okay
   Installed "FSUIPC Lua Library.pdf" okay
   Installed "FSUIPC Lua Plug-Ins.pdf" okay
   Installed "Lua License.pdf" okay
Installed "Lua Plugins for VRInsight Devices.pdf" okay
   Installed "LuaFileSystem.pdf" okay
   Installed "Example LUA plugins.zip" okay
   Installed "SIMSAMURAI+FSUIPC+TUTORIAL.pdf" okay
   Installed "FSUIPC for Programmers.pdf" okay
===========================================================

All installer tasks completed okay!

First time WHAT has happened? I don' t see anything wrong and you don't state any problem.

Okay, my friend Thomas has just pointed out that the folder, pointed to by the Registry entry for FS9, actually points to:

"G:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\"

and of course Microsoft, in its wisdom, also installs an FS9.exe in the FSX folder, so it passes the test that the FSUIPC3 installer makes.

You have two choices:

1. Delete the FS9.EXE from the FSX folder and run the FSUIPC installer again. It should ask you to find the correct folder

or, better (because the Registry problem will affect other installers, not just FSUIPC's),

2. Fix the Registry entry for the FS9 EXE path so it points to the actual FS9 folder.

I don't know how your registry got into such a mess. Maybe you were using some program designed to fool some other installer that FSX was in fact FS9? I know there's one which does this sort of thing for P3D and FSX.

I think there's a program around t help fix this sort of thing, but if not then you'll need to run RegEdit and change the EXE Path parameter entry in

 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.0

to point to the full path of your FS9 installation.

And, please, next time you report a problem, please actually state what the problem is.
