Blaunarwal Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 Hi I uninstalled Prepar3D 2.3. Always when I want to update FSUIPC it searches for prepar3d.exe and ask me to show the exe. Where is this information kept, that I had P3D installed. There is no uninstallation of FSUIPC, isn't it? I then would just remove it and install it again. Regards Dan
Ian P Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 Your Windows Registry will still contain references to Prepar3D, which is why your computer still thinks it is installed, but cannot find the EXE file. The only way stop this, unfortunately, is to manually edit or registry (or use a registry clean up tool, depending on how much you trust them!) to remove references to P3D. This really is one of those annoying "blame Microsoft" moments, sorry. Cheers. Ian P.
Pete Dowson Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 Moved from the FAQ subforum, which is NOT a Support Forum. I uninstalled Prepar3D 2.3. Always when I want to update FSUIPC it searches for prepar3d.exe and ask me to show the exe. Seems the uninstaller doesn't work correctly then, as the Registry evidently still points to where P3D should be! Please report this to Lockheed-Martin. Pete
Ian P Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 Neither the P3D nor MSFS un-installation routines have ever removed the registry entries, Pete. One of my friends commented on this on the beta for FSX and was told this is intentional, because it 'retained settings for when people reinstalled'. It's still worth raising it with Lockheed-Martin, I agree, but I just thought that I'd point out what we were told when this was brought up with ACES. Cheers, Ian P.
Pete Dowson Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 Neither the P3D nor MSFS un-installation routines have ever removed the registry entries, Pete Really? How odd. Never knew that! In any case, it doesn't stop the FSUIPC Installer from doing it's job. It just means that when it asks the user to find the correct EXE they need to press Cancel. It only cancels that part of the install, not the rest. Regards Pete
Blaunarwal Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 Hi thanks for the answers. I usually do just cancel and everything works fine. Just thought it maybe something I can tune with FSUIPC. There's a reason I removed P3D. It makes a mess of a system and even disable itself to update I think. This will be the same reasons why I have now FSUIPC still searching for P3D. I remember having uninstalled P3D with a tool, searching the registry after uninstall routine for remains. But I think I will have to do it manually. Regards Dan
Joaquin Jimenez Krijgsman Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 Hi Pete, I have similar or related problem. During install of FSUIPC it says it can't find Prepar3D and when I point to the exe file it still says its not there. Then I cancel the further installation, in any case the plug in is there in Prepar3D and works with limited functionalities, but the registration buttons are not activated and don´t work. I need a full working version for saitek panels etc. By the way I made the mistake of allowing Prepar3D to install itself only c drive in the x86 program, directory, later on I moved it to a specific flash drive. Could this be the problem? How can I get that solved manually?? Thanks, Joaquin
