Rudder vs Parking brake A2A Cherokee/Comanche

After around 20 years of simming I finally decided to use FSUIPC for my controls with my Saitek Quadrant, Yoke and Pedals. Have always had FSUIPC but never used it for controls.

 

Seems I have just about everything set up but am having trouble with toe brakes, rudder and parking brake.  Have tried all kinds of combinations but still, whenever I'm taxiing or even rolling for takeoff suddenly either the left or right toe brake will activate and/or the parking brake will set.  To release the parking brake I have to manually set it and then unset it again.  Toe brakes don't work at all.

 

I'm sure I'm really screwing something up but don't know where.

Unless you assign the parking brake control to something, FSUIPC doesn't touch it. It sounds like you've been assigning all the wrong things. Please show me your FSUIPC4.INI file, from the FS Modules folder. You can paste it into a message here.

Hmm. Let's examine your assignments:

 

Generic assignments, for all aircraft (unless overridden):

You have several profiles, but let's just look at the Cherokee:

All of those axes are assigned "direct to calibration", but you haven't calibrated any of them except the toe brakes! The uncalibrated ones won't be working correctly at all. You should either calibrate them, or assign them to the FS controls instead.

 

Your toe brakes look to be the only things which should be working okay:

So, I'm suspecting that your problems are mostly due to the fact that you have controllers still enabled in FS. You must not assign axes and buttons in FSUIPC without disabling controllers in FS. That could easily expain why the toe brakes are misbehaving. However, nothing explains why your parking brake is coming on, unless somethnig is sending a "D" keypress, or the assignedt FS keypress for the same function. The parking brake cannot come on through anything FSUIPC is doing.

Thanks, Pete.  The problem appears to be solved by, as you said, removing ALL FS axes and buttons.  I thought that by un-checking "enable controllers" it would override them but apparently not.  Also, you were  right about not having calibrated the brakes.  Actually all I had to do was check "rev" in the calibration section and all appears to be working.   Parking brake no longer comes on when using toe brakes.
