Hillgazer Posted August 20, 2018 Report Posted August 20, 2018 Despite the quiet confidence displayed by Thomas, and despite my having read the manual, I am still puzzled as to setting up the step by step operational stages for flaps in my simple aircraft. i should be grateful for an 'extra simple' explanation. Many thanks.

What is puzzling you? Please ask specific problems as I'm not going to reproduce the manual sections here! And the manual was produced to explain things. You mention Thomas' answers (?), but where are they? Are you starting a new thread rather than sticking to an earlier, more relevant, one? Pete
Hillgazer Posted August 21, 2018 Author Report Posted August 21, 2018 Firstly, Thomas Richter replied, providing some advice on June 2nd. Then, I did start a new thread but if you would point me to an earlier mail that contained the help that a simple, slow-thinking chap like me needs, I should be delighted to have the mists cleared. Put simply, I cannot unravel your manual's advice sufficiently in order to solve my problem, so even if you were to reprint a section of it for me, it would serve little purpose. Looking forward to your helpful advice, Pete.

Maybe not, but I do write as clearly as I'm able, so I don't see how i can really do any better. I'm a programmer, not a teacher. It would be far better if you asked specific questions, not asked for a complete tutorial. i'd like to know what you don't understand and why. That's the way things improve, eventually, after all. On your first point:about an earlier message, if you know it exists why not point me to it? Do you mean the one where Thomas contributed? Where is that? You see, by starting a new thread on the same subject to make it more difficult, not easier! Pete
Hillgazer Posted August 22, 2018 Author Report Posted August 22, 2018 Firstly, patient Pete, that Thomas Richter to which I referred posted some Flaps advice on 5th February to a subscriber named 767300. Secondly, the advice I seek is simple to describe. Having studied your carefully written manual I am baffled as to how I can set up flap détents. That's all. Can you take me 'by the hand' and lead me through the process ?

That's what the documentation is for. I don't know what part you need expanding upon. If you need it translating, can you try Google? Pete
Hillgazer Posted August 22, 2018 Author Report Posted August 22, 2018 Perhaps you could tell me the precise page number(s) that I could zero in on that I can try once more to grasp this flap détent procedure. In the meantime, as far as I can ascertain both your, and my, usage of the Queen's English is sufficiently satisfactory that nether of us needs to refer to any tratnslation engine. Did my link to ThomS Richter prove helpful?

Which version of FSUIPC are you using? For FSUIPC5 it starts on page 43. It has the explanatory title CALIBRATING FLAPS WITH SPECIFIC DÉTENTES and it is also listed in the Contents, which is on the second page. Please do use the actual facilities available to find these things. For other versions of FSUIPC the section will be on a different page, but the Contents will help -- that's what it is for. another way is to simply search for a keyword, like flaps or detentes. All PDF readers that I know of have search facilities. 6 minutes ago, Hillgazer said: Did my link to ThomS Richter prove helpful? No link provided. I see no threads originating on Feb 5th, and it really isn't possible to find all messages with that date within threads. There might be a way of searching for all messages by a user name, but I can't find one. If you can locate the thread just select it so it is showing, then copy the actual link which will be in the selection bar at the top of your browser, probably beginning with https:// Pete
Hillgazer Posted August 22, 2018 Author Report Posted August 22, 2018 Thanks, Pete. As MacArthur put it " I shall return".
Hillgazer Posted August 22, 2018 Author Report Posted August 22, 2018 Mea culpa, Pete. As an SE: FSX User I'm using FSUIPC.4 of course. In addition, a subscriber's comments regarding these détent settings spoke of pages 41-43 on which I had become fixated. Now, in the .4 manual, starting at Page 50 is where I shall come to rest for a few days....with an air of optimism. Goodness knows how I missed them. More of Thomas Richter anon. Thanks for your patience. You can stop grinding your teeth for a while.
Hillgazer Posted August 23, 2018 Author Report Posted August 23, 2018 OK ...mea culpa. I only have FSUIPC.4 to date as running with SE: FSX. here's that Richter piece....I hope.
Pete Dowson Posted August 23, 2018 Report Posted August 23, 2018 2 hours ago, Hillgazer said: here's that Richter piece....I hope. Didn't you read it? Poster 767300 had a bad hardware card and replaced it and then calibrated flaps successfully. Is that your problemm a bad piece of hardware you need to replace? Pete
Hillgazer Posted August 23, 2018 Author Report Posted August 23, 2018 I did read it, Pete but that isn’t my problem at all. Mine is limited to my sluggish brain. You asked me to send you the piece containing Mr. Richter and I hope he was in there somewhere. No need to respond to this. We can both drop the subject. Bon chance.
