df0132 Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Dear Mr Dawson I have just completed a project to hand-craft dual throttles (modelled off a 767). I have recently purchased FS2004 and have been told that I am unable to use your FSUIPC software to calibrate the reverse thrust. Can you confirm that your software is no longer available to an enduser as freeware? I have downloaded the latest version of the FSUIPC and my interpretation of the user document, is that your software is still available as freeware to the enduser, if they are not intending to commercialise the product. This being the case I would like to assure you, that I have no intention to do so, I have just made the throttle for my own pleasuer. Can you advise me of my options please. Kind regards daryl
dash8311 Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Daryl, I cannot speak for Mr. Dowson, but I am under the impression that FSUIPC is a sort of 'shareware'. You can use version 3.x for free, but you are very limited compared to the registered version. Hope this helps. Kris
rickalty Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Hi Daryl, If you read the sticky "Paying for FSUIPC, why and how", it'll tell you what the free as opposed to registered version of FSUIPC will or won't do.
Pete Dowson Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 Can you confirm that your software is no longer available to an enduser as freeware? As documented, it is available as freeware for its true original purpose -- as a successor to FS6IPC for interfacing external programs to FS. I have merely put a price on the additional facilities. I am afraid that, if the default FS and Windows facilities for joystick calbration are not sufficient for your needs, then there are only two alternatives: either write a driver for them to interface to FSUIPC (for freeware I provide a free key), or purchase a user key for FSUIPC so you have access to all the optional features. Regards, Pete
