P3D 4.5 and Airport Design Editor X

Recommended Posts

Hi Pete

Since updating Prepar3D to 4.5 I can not connect Airport Design Editor X  (Application 01.76.6715.14291, Engine 04.75.6712.18978) to it. I get the FSUIPC error #8, FSUIPC_ERR_WRONGFS. Incorrect Version of Flightsim. I use FSUIPC 5.151.

The latter seems to work fine in 4.5 so I wonder, why does it not connect with ADEX.

Is there a workaround or do we need to wait for an updated FSUIPC?

Regards

Dan

It's ADE which has to connect with FSUIPC, not the other way around. And it is ADE reporting the error.

I'm using the exact same ADE version and it connects okay (I have !autoconnect" checked in ADE, so it connects straight away). I just ran it again.with IPC read logging enabled. here are the relevant parts of the log:

Using ADE v01.77.6986.18569 and FSUIPC 1.151 and connecting to P3Dv4.5 without issue.

Did you install the new P3Dv4 SDK and correct the file paths in ADE.

Yes, together with 4.5 i also installed the new SDK. Therefore, ADE lost all paths and I configured this new.

Hi Pete

I could connect now ADE again. Don´t know, what caused this. Thirst thought, I may have chosen FSX as ADE sim. But I checked now, this can´t be. With the wrong sim, it does not allow to connect at all. The button is inactive. What I did after reading the messages here, was just to save the paths again (unaltered), leaving ADE again and starting it new. Then I could just connect, like before. So problem is solved for me. The error message I had suggested, FSUIPC is not allowing the new sim version. Although ADE connects with the sim, as you explained, the message said, it´s an FSUIPC error - strange.

It's only an "FSUIPC error" only to the extent that if the application asks for, say, and FSX connection, and FSUIPC is running in P3D, then that error is returned by the code supplied to programmers to show how to interface to FSUIPC.

But as far as I can determine (without ADE's code), it doesn't. -- It connects asking for "any FS", in which case this error cannot be returned. And it is fine with me and with srcooke.

But you need to check with ScruffyDuck on this. I'm not hacking their code (that's actually here the check is being made --it happens in the ADE process AFTER the FS Version number is returned to it in the way I described above, with the Log. (Did you try logging to compare your results?).

You need to enable "ipc Read" logging in the Logging tab, as I said. Else it won't show anything relevant to any application connection! Then just compare what the read lines show to what I posted earlier.
