Please Pete need some help to find the last origin for this issue with FSUIPC. it is stopping me from using FSX and did not find a solution doing research in internet. Many thanks in advance.

need some help to find the last origin for this issue with FSUIPC. it is stopping me from using FSX

The error appears to be when some add-on application tries to do some offset writing / reading. Can you list the FSUIPC applications you are using, please?

Also, try the latest version (4.975a).

Please use the <> parentheses (see the editing options bar above the message entry area) to envelope text files like INI and LOG,  rather than show them directly in your message -- the spacing makes the INI file quite difficult to read. Or, alternatively, ZIP them and attach them.

Hello Pete... thank you very much for your prompt reply

1) Ok i will install the latest version on wednesday, and i will report to you results

2) I only use FSX as a Soaring simulation. The addons i use are: FX recorder, FSUIPC, CumulusX, WinchX, Active Sky Next.  Pretty simple rig. I use photografic scenaries for Spain and France and airports From Airhispania (they are all simple aerodroms not making use of FSUIPC)

3) more clues ... i recently upgrade my PC from 2 to 4 GB RAM .... i run memtest86+ on it and all tests were OK.  I also upgraded CPU from intel Crore duo two cores to four cores. intel BIOS checked for right version and windows and FSX working fine on the four cores. I use mask 14 for FSX. i also run intel tests on CPU and and everything OK. I disabled the DEP (data execution prevention) on BIOS and Windows but same error all the time. I am not running windows kernel with /3GB toggle at boot.ini so processes max memory 2G. i tried also with /3GB kernel parameter but same error all the time.   i have envidia card 1GB mem with the latest drivers available installed & checked as well as a Creative card with latest drivers available installed & checked. I also have TrackIR5 with latest available drivers installed.  my setup  had been working as soaring simulation for two years totally stable ... The error makes FSX CTD showing allways error at module msvcr80.dll version 8.0.50727.6195 offset 00008aa0. I reinstalled MS Visual 2005 redistributable latest version ... but same error.

all started after RAM/CPU upgrade in July ...... i am getting desperate and gave up ... need real experts help.

will follow your instructions for next files to send. Sorry .

thank you very much

Could you do some elimination on those? Quickest way is to try FSUIPC with none of those then add one at a time, see which one is involved in the crash.

So something has changed. No additional add-ons? No updates to add-ons?

Ah, that is different. FSUIPC is trapping the error with the offset read/write, so that in itself won't crash FSX -- that's the point of it being trapped in FSUIPC. It may be the other way around: whatever is causing FSX to crash also causes the problem in FSUIPC.

So, maybe it isn't being caused by an FSUIPC add-on, but one of the others. So we need to eliminate those too.

The CPU upgrade presumably then required a Windows re-installation. And update?  Did you re-install FSX afterwards?

Seems quite a lot of changes to investigate.  I doubt that it is hardware related. It'll be some corrupt software somewhere.

Hello Pete.  During my own investigations and analyses, one by one i eliminated each of the other addons (FSXrecorder, Cumulus, winch and ASN) and in each try i had FSX CTDs (module msvcr80.dll) until i eliminated FSUIPC the last ... then FSX did not CTD .. that is why i investigated into de FSUIPC log and saw the error i reported here.

i am not blaming FSUPIC at all of FSX CTDs. it was working and totally stable before all this madness started after new HW was installed However as explained i found FSX stopped CTD (imediatelly after a flight starts) when i disabled FSUIPC after having already disabled all other addons. I also believe that FSUPIC may being affected by an other early reason ...

NO, it was not necessary to reinstall Windows XP after a CPU upgrade (only CPU chip was replaced) as i already could read and learn from Windows support ... it only was necessary to include a /numproc=4 toggle in boot.ini, and to install two drivers for the two new cores which .inf file was in C:\windows\inf and are the same driver and version from MS that the other two cores already had. Windows XP behaved very well as of now at least. As regard FSX it was NOT reinstalled either there was no need for that, i only made some changes in FSX.CFG to have Affinitymask=14 (it was 3) have Fiber Frames=0.3 (it was 0.13) and increase mesh and texture resolution to max. After RAM upgrade neither Windows XP nor FSX were reinstalled ... new RAM was shown in BIOS inmediately and Windows showed 3.25 GB available RAM without any change or special config ( as expected according to previous information researched in the web about RAM updates in windows XP) The only pieces of software i have reinstalled after HW upgrade are MS visual 2005 lastest version and FSUIPC itself V4.974 and both were trying to fix the new problem of FSX CTDs appeared.

All this is why i am getting crazy i feel surpassed and decided to look for high experts help.

As said will install new version of FSUIPC on wednesday and will promptly report to you ... thank you for your patience and guiadance

Kind regards

Hello Pete

Does the FSUIPC 4.975 installer  run on Windows XP 32 bit? I just downloaded it  and tried to run it in my two testing windows  XP Pcs prior to install it in the real simulation PC ... and for some reason it does not want to run. Simply as soon it is launched it dies without saying anything else in screen or in a file. I tried it into two different PCs and as administrator and in both same bahaviour.  Sorry do not want to be jinxed 😖😖😁😁

Thank you very much.

You are using Windows XP still? I hadn't noticed that in the Log, sorry. I'm actually a little surprised FSUIPC itself still works on XP. I don't think later versions of FSUIPC (5, 6, and 7) will run on anything earlier than Win 7.

BUT if the 4.974 installer worked, I know of no reason at all for the 4.975 one to fail. The changes in the Installer are only related to the detection of later SimConnect and FSX-SE versions (specifically the final Beta release of FSX-SE by Microsoft).

Is there nothing in the Windows Event Viewer?

On the original problem, have you tried eliminating a possible weather file corruption? If not, try deleting all the .WX files in your FSX Documents folder, and deleting the wxstationlist.bin file in the FSX AppData folder. FSX will make a new one when it starts next.

If that doesn't help then I really think that you should re-install FSX.

Hello Pete good afternoon

I know my WXP rig is very old it came from my FS2004 days, but for the FSX soaring sim has worked like a Charm, specially FSUIPC4 v4.794 that performed great helping me to have my cabin controls as in real gliders (i have developed aerodinamic models for a few real gliders ... i invested my spare time in that for the last two years rather than updating my windows setup ... 🙄) My mistake was to go for the HW upgrade (it was cheaper than a new PC  that is also important for a retired) Any way it is done and need to get out of this hole.

I will delete tomorrow all the files you suggest and will promptly report to you.

There is no message at all in my windows event viewer related to FSUIPC V4.975 installer 😌

Thank you indeed for your kindness and help.

My glider aerodinamic models (ASW27B, DG808S, and now working in a ASK21B) are shareable if any one is insterested.( I would be surprised, and happy if any, FSX gliding community is small that is why FS 2020 has forgotten us so far)

Kind Regards 😃

Hello Pete

I went for a full FSX reinstallation ... so far so good it seems the issue is gone. Thank you for your recommendations.

Will the FSUIPC v4.975 installer run in Win XP 32 bit?

I don't know any reason why it shouldn't, but I've not had a WinXP system to test anything on for years.  Certainly some of my programs will no longer work on something so old.

😪 .. its a pity,  thanks

Does that mean you tried it and it failed? No Install log, no Windows error?

The differences between 4.974 and 4.975 were primarily related to late FSX-SE changes, and those were to do with recognising version number changes . Development of FSUIPC was effectively frozen after 4.97 in 2017, so I'm not sure there's anything for you to be sad about.

Hi,

you might check if installing the package on your XP helps. Make sure you install only the package linked to your Windows.

Download the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019. The following updates are the latest supported Visual C++ redistributable packages for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019. Included is a baseline version of the Universal C Runtime see MSDN for details.

Note Visual C++ 2015, 2017 and 2019 all share the same redistributable files.

Does that mean you tried it and it failed? No Install log, no Windows error?

Hello Pete how are you? ... yes i tried in three different windows XP PCs and i had same behaviour in all of them: the installer just dies as soon as it is launched without any message either in screen or in a log file or a system event log (at least i could not see any) rare.

I also have bad news for me to be sad ... even after having reinstalled FSX i still have same CTD with the same faulting module msvcr80.dll and the same exception in FSUIPC log file ...

I definetively know that the issue is a consequence of running FSUIPC as i removed it from dll.xml and i was able to fly during hours several days without any CTD and as soon as i include FSUIPC i got a CTD in less than five minutes.

As of now and not know until when i have no more access to my simulation production environment due to COVID-19 restrictions in Madrid, (it is at my weekends place)  but i have access to my FSX development environment (not CTDs in this environment) if you want me to run a try with a more detailed log configuration. (Maybe useless)

Windows XP is old as i am .. so we both live together 🤣  and we love each other.😍🤣😂

Kind regards thank you very very much for your kind interes in this rare case ... a challenge

Why not use a similar environment at your other establishment, then?

I'm sorry, but i am really not in a position to offer any additional help with a WinXP installation.

Ok ... a FSUIPC workaround seems a unique alternative as of now .... but ... but i do not give up ... will run my own tests and analysis .. and report to you ... only can you teach me please how to obtain more detailed logs in FSUIPC ? anything that could drive me to have more deep clues would be great and help a lot.

I understand your point (i am engineer and worked with real live banking systems for many years) that software  and software development environments shoud be kept constantly updated and old versions and it support is a ballast as heavy as the ballast of my simulated gliders when trying to reach new cross country records ... but for now and until FS 2020 provides full gliding and gliders support i will not update the environment,  however i am really looking forward the next MS announcement on gliding ... we are a small community but loyal and gratefull to MS and great devs as FSUIPC and others as FSrecorder, CumulusX, WinchX, ASK21, Discuss, ActiveSky,  and all gliders from Wolfgang Piper.

you might check if installing the package on your XP helps. Make sure you install only the package linked to your Windows.

Hi Thomas ... thank you very much too for your information and interest .... will study it carefully and see if it helps (without any secondary effects to the old windows XP ill patient) ... may i please raise to you further questions about it?

What would you want to see logged apart from those things listed in the Logging options? There are many specialised logging facilities, but you cannot enable them all at once. You need to know what you are looking for in the first place, and the problem here is that we have no idea.

I'm just sorry that i am not in a position to try to reproduce your problem here, else i could possibly help more. I think it would be easier, in fact, for you to update from WinXP.

Ok Pete ...  I will not bother you any more.

i can reproduce the issue again and again when i use Aileron Trim,  offset OC02.... If a find any other clues will report to you.

Thank you indeed  anyway.

Kind Regards
