paddler Posted Thursday at 05:54 PM Report Posted Thursday at 05:54 PM I recently downloaded FSUIPC 7.5.4 and have not been able to get my PFC C2 Professional throttles and other controls accepted for assignment in FSUIPC. I have loaded PFChid64.dll V 5.143 into the FSUIPC folder on C:\FSUIPC7. My store version of MSFS2024 is located on my D drive in with a file C:\Xbox Games and my Community and Official folders listed separately at D:\MSFS. All worked well before I made the new install of FSUIPC7. Clearly I have done something wrong, but am not able to identify what that is. Thanks in advance for your help. John Dowson Posted Thursday at 07:16 PM Report Posted Thursday at 07:16 PM Was this working in 7.5.3? I have attached it if you could try with this (just rename your current FSUIPC.exe) and download this to your FSUIPC7 installation folder): FSUIPC7.exe John
paddler Posted Thursday at 09:07 PM Author Report Posted Thursday at 09:07 PM John, Thanks for the quick response. 7.5.3 not working now either, though I believe that this was the last version that I had before the update and it worked fine. I get the screen PFC Control Connections Check which tells me: FSUIPC okay. All options avail 7.503 PFCcom64 driver version 5.062 FSUIPC7: Simulator is available and connected When I go the assignments screen it does not allow any inputs to the screen. Rick
John Dowson Posted Friday at 10:31 AM Report Posted Friday at 10:31 AM The log file you attached shows that MSFS was not running. or that FSUIPC was not connected to MSFS. Can you please try once FSUIPC7 is connected to MSFS and also when you have an aircraft loaded and ready to fly. I think at least one of the PFC drivers needs this, but can't remember which off-hand. Also, please always exit FSUIPC before attaching files. Your log shows that it was still running. Also, can you add logging froe Extras for the nest log file please - please run FSUIPC7 and set this, then exit, then start MSFS/FSUIPC7 as usual. John
paddler Posted Friday at 12:57 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 12:57 PM (edited) John 1st log file with MSFS loaded but flight not selected and loaded 2nd log file AC loaded and ready to fly. 3rd log file same as 2 but have attempted to close FSUIPC7FSUIPC7.logFSUIPC7.log Two other points. I started the flight sim by using the FSUIPC tab on my home screen that loads both FSUIPC and MSFS2024. When I close out the flight sim program it shows that FSUIPC closes, but if I were to open FSUIPC by its tab it indicates that there is already a version of FSUIPC running. The only way that I can close it is to restart my computer. This has been the case for months when all was working well. Rick FSUIPC7.log FSUIPC7.log Edited Friday at 12:58 PM by paddler 3rd log not seen
John Dowson Posted Friday at 06:30 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:30 PM The first log file was generated when FSUIPC was not connected to MSFS and therefore shows nothing useful, and was again attached when FSUIPC7 was still running. The second log file has logging for Input Events set but not for Extras, as I asked for, and was also attached when FSUIPC7 was still running. 5 hours ago, paddler said: I started the flight sim by using the FSUIPC tab on my home screen that loads both FSUIPC and MSFS2024. Do you mean the FSUIPC7 icon? This starts MSFS. It is MSFS that starts FSUIPC7. All the log files you attached show that you manually started FSUIPC7. What you are saying doesn't make sense and your log files show something else is going on. Please check things at your end, set the required logging (Extras) and disable other logging (especially for Input Events), and check the log file before attaching it. John
paddler Posted Friday at 07:35 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 07:35 PM John, Thanks for your patience. Just to clarify. I opened the FSUIPC icon and deselected all in puts exempt Extras and then exited it using the option under File. I then opened MSFS using the "F7 MSFS24" icon which started MSFS2024 and FSUIPC7. I then closed FSUIPC by using Alt F and under File selected Exit and attached the log. I then opened FSUIPC7 using the FSUIPC7.exe icon and with a plane loaded and ready to fly repeated the process of closing FSUIPC7 using the .exe icon and under File exited. The attached the 2nd log file after which I closed MSFS2024. If this is not correct then please identify what it is that I should do to correct. Rick FSUIPC7.log FSUIPC7.log
paddler Posted Saturday at 12:15 AM Author Report Posted Saturday at 12:15 AM John, just to clarify, I am using a USB connection for my PFC C2 Professional not the old style com port. The fact that when I load FSUIPC7 I get the PFC Control Connections Check which tells me: FSUIPC okay. All options avail 7.503 PFCcom64 driver version 5.062 FSUIPC7: Simulator is available and connected which asks for the correct com port bothers me even though that screen indicates that I have "None". My USB connection to the computer works as I can use the PFC utilities to calibrate the axis and buttons just fine. Rick

I only said to run first (before starting MSFS) and exit so that you could set the logging so that this would be active when FSUIPC7 is auto-started by MSFS. As this is now set, you can just 10 hours ago, paddler said: I am using a USB connection for my PFC C2 Professional not the old style com port. If its a USB/HID connection, why are you using the com driver? Have you tried with the USB/HID driver (PFChid64.dll)? When this was working, were you using a com port (with the com driver)?

All options avail 7.503 PFCcom64 driver version 5.062 If it is a com device, then you also need to configure the com port being used and the controls check should say what is available, i.e. what does it say next to 'Throttle Quadrant operation'? And I think you configure your throttle in the Quadrant tab of the PFC driver window (available from the FSUIPC Add-ons menu), not in the FSUIPC axes assignment panel. Please see the PFC driver documentation.
John Dowson Posted Saturday at 12:15 PM Report Posted Saturday at 12:15 PM Also, if is a com device and you are using a com-to-usb adapter cable (in which case you use the com driver), the cable should be used with a driver that maps the USB to a com port and you need to determine which and configure this correctly. If its a pure USB device, you need the hid driver (as I said), but I am not sure if your device is supported. Was this PFC device previously working with FSUIPC, and if so, how?

Looks like you can also assign the axes in FSUIPC - from the PFC documentation: Quote In conjunction with the FSUIPC release 3.537 or later, PFC axes which are read by the PFC.DLL driver can now be assigned in FSUIPC’s ‘Axis Assignment’ facility. This greatly enriches the number of things you can do. Note that, as with FS, FSUIPC assignment does not override any use PFC.DLL makes of the axis. To avoid having multiple actions for the same control, be sure to disable (uncheck) in PFC’s options all the axes you are assigning in FSUIPC. For the quadrant this applies to all possible quadrant and user configuration attachments -- FSUIPC is not aware of your choices there. But FSUIPC needs, of course, to be able to see these axes first....you won't be able to do anything until you get an 'Okay!' next to the Throttle quadrant operation in the PFC Control Connection Check box. Note that I do not have any PFC devices, com or hid, so I can only give advice based upon the documentation. I suggest you read this! John
