  1. Thanks. I had been giving other planes orders to taxi before getting the "Successful Landing" message and had them essentially ignore the directive so I assumed I needed to wait for the message.
  2. FDX1704 vacate runway right onto taxiway U I got back, "Negative".
  3. Thanks. I'll do exactly that. Didn't realize, as I noted, that such a command was even possible as I've been mainly leaning on the built-in interface to figure out the game. Any chance you'd want to share that?
  4. Wow. So this is quickly becoming a very expensive product. I'm not sure it's currently at a state that's worth that amount. I'll have to think about it. Consider that first it was $50 for the base game. Then it was $9.95 for Real Traffic (which I would have to think most people would assume includes the liveries as the description is a bit less than clear on that point). So we're at $60. Then it's $6.99 for Real Color KPHL so we're up to $67 and still we find we're not getting everything. So, to get the Frontier 319 and I going to have to spend $20 for one of the airports plus another $7 for the RC for that aiport and, if so, which one? Can I buy just the colors for each airport without the airport to get all the aircraft for KPHL or will they only work if you have the airport? It feels from there that the only way to really cover the bases is to buy every product or else you're running the risk of having aircraft that aren't included. That's $174.80 and climbing. Sure, I'm guessing that anyone that buys the core game, RT and RC for KPHL and leave everything default, then perhaps they don't get white aircraft, etc. However, this is clearly a product designed to tweak and their approach is just one I find less than optimal. Create an RC for the full product and offer that. I wouldn't have a problem with that, but to do it this way just feels greedy to me.
  5. I'm confused as I've seen screenshots of the UPS livery above. How is that happening? I own RT and RC. No other airports yet as Philly is my preferred airport so I'm lucky with that one. As noted, on Frontier I definitely have some. In fact this one with a white tail parked next to a plane with the full Frontier colors. Assumed it was something missing on the schedule.
  6. It just seemed odd that the other planes all managed to set up for correct entry while these guys don't. Didn't realize Vacate was even a valid option. Seems voice commands are far more flexible than using the interface.
  7. Update: I finally had some cargo planes fly into KPHL (Fed Ex and UPS), but still none departing yet. However, I have noted a couple of issues: 1. All the planes that come in on 9R can't taxi to the cargo terminal normally. Instead of just turning into the cargo area they first turn away from it towards the normal terminal and then do a complete 180 and then head into that area. If they miss taxiway Y then they do a complete circle from U to P and back onto Y. That gets very messy in traffic. 2. All my UPS aircraft have no art. The livery is just white. I also oddly had a Frontier flight with no livery markings as well while others do. Odd.
  8. Same issue here. It's impossible to set numeric entries correctly. So moving from 50% traffic to anything above it means rushing to the Start button and hoping for the best as it scrolls like a ghost up towards 100%.
  9. It worked for me. Prior to training I couldn't get voice to work 90% of the time. It's it's working nearly that often.
  10. FWIW, I've been using the KPHL files above in four sessions (fairly lengthy) and have yet to get any cargo planes to make any requests in our out. I see some planes over in the cargo area and FedEx is definitely some of them, but they just sit there. Perhaps they all only move as very specific times?
  11. Would the cargo planes at KPHL use the cargo area?
  12. Do you know if the devs are planning to support cargo flights? KPHL is loaded with UPS and has its fair share of FedEx and DHL flights. It'd be cool to have the cargo area active.
  13. Thanks. All great info. In speech training now. Ugh. Stuck on one phrase in the second round. Never been a fan of recognition and I've been pretty interested in it (and worked in it) since it first started gaining interest in the 80s. It's just never quite good enough. People will say, "It's 95% accurate", which sounds great until you realize that's five screwed up words in every 100 and that is well off the mark of acceptability. Oddly, with today's text/twitter users it might become perfectly acceptable. hehe
  14. Just got Tower! 3D Pro after watching a couple nice youtube sessions that made me curious. I have a bit of learning to do, but come from the flight sim world including VATSIM so I don't expect the curve to be that high. I am having a few issues that the community might be able to help with: 1. When you start the game, you're asked to select runways. I assume this is to set the actives? What is the impact of these selections? Is this just for arriving flights? Can I still assign the other runways to aircraft? 2. Why am I setting the actives if I haven't seen the wind yet? What I find is I set them, go into the game and then find the wind the wrong way and flights now inbound for a runway they won't land at. 3. When I installed the game I didn't get a shortcut of any sort or menu entry. The only option I have is to uninstall the game. 4. Is there a way to disable the music in the start up menu? 5. Is there a way (at Philly for example) to zoom closer into aircraft than what appears to be the default zoom limit? 6. Can you change the default key for mic from LEFT SHIFT? As is I keep getting harassed by Windows and the whole "Stick Keys" nonsense. I'm much rather just use the right mouse for mic. 7. My menus all act as if I'm holding a cursor key down. If I try to select an airport the highlight moves up or down on its own. If I try to assign "Turn Left" and set it to say, 0 degrees, the degree bar will just ascend on its own without my touching anything making it very hard to give accurate commands. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Enjoying the experience so far, though I need to train voice as that's been nearly useless out of the box for me. I'm sure that can improve heavily.
  15. Sorry for the delay Pete. Been away on work trips for a bit. Yes, VATSIM weather is what I turn off to make it go away. Sorry to hear the person I saw earlier was misinformed. I have Nvidia looking at this but so far, no word.
  16. Pete, On another board someone mentioned that you and another person had been chatting about an FSX issue where haze layers will flash off every 5 seconds or so. It flashes off for about a second and then back on only to repeat again another 5 seconds later. This person said you'd seen the issue and thought it was related to Simconnect. I've been plagued with the problem and find it nearly every time I fly (which is almost entirely in VATSIM). I find I end up turn off the weather to deal with it which is certainly not optimal. Does any of this ring a bell? If so, did you get any further with it? It's driving me insane so I'm reaching out to any possible source to find any hope of a solution. Thanks.
  17. Pete, it's okay. We're just talking. We actually got closer on the last post than before. You said a few things in the last post that shed some light on this for me. Thanks.
  18. Pete, We're not speaking to the same things here. I realize 100% of everything you're saying. This is a case of you knowing your product inside-and-out versus someone who doesn't. As someone who doesn't I found it confusing that when I brought up FSUIPC the first time and went to the reverser section the first time that the only lever that it saw moving (by default) was the one that is, by default, controlling mixture. Yes, I realize I can change any of these things. I'm just saying that it was a bit confusing trying to understand why the default would match the mixture control to the reverser control. Those two controls seem not to go together in any way. Does that make any more sense? I've read the documentation. It is not discussing what I am above. It tells me how I can go about making all the changes needed. That's great. Thank you. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about a first impression here. The defaults, one generally assumes (and you know what they say about assuming) are there usually because that's the best choice. That's what I was trying to figure out. I don't just change things in any software I use for the heck of it. I generally try to go with the defaults and then, if they just don't work for me, then I'll go about making changes. I don't believe your choices had anything to do with this. I'm not suggesting there's anything wrong with FSUIPC or the documentation.
  19. I guess I didn't describe it well. At least on my CH Yoke, the Left control is Throttle. The middle one is prop and the right one is mixture. When I go into FSUIPC and go to the reverser section it's reading the rightmost lever by default. As mentioned the right one is mixture. That's why I was asking about it as it seemed a bit confusing to me why the default would be on the mixture control when reducing it would cut off the engine. Not a big deal in any case. Just pointing out what I'm seeing.
  20. It's what happens on my setup prior to doing anything with FSUIPC. The right-most throttle, when brought fully down, kills the engines. I also wasn't asking for instructions. I'm simply curious about how these work in real life. I'd like to mimic that.
  21. Pete, One thing I'm not grasping with the reverser. I have the CH Yoke with the three throttles. You've got reverser set to the right-most one which I believe is mixture. Wouldn't reverser most normally be hooked to the main throttle? Full back on the throttle being reverse? I'm pretty sure I can do it any way I want but I'm trying this time around to be more realistic in my approach. I suspect I'll mainly be flying a CRJ for quite a long time or my Dash 8 if PSS ever changes their mind to fix it for FSX. If it's tied to mixture, the problem I have is that throttle, when cut to zero, cuts off all the engines. How would I get past that into reverser mode and not have it kill the engines?
  22. Yep, I read that in the manual (hurray! someone read it!) so I knew it was an option. I was never all that thrilled with my last setup so I figured it was time to re-do it all. I think I first setup my stick back in 2004 and I've not paid much attention to other features of the software. I thought this would be a good way to re-acquaint myself with it. Looking through my old .INI I don't see anything in it relating to Gear Up/Down so I suspect you're right that either they changed the Controls options or just changed the defaults for the CH Products stick. Either way, more information isn't a bad thing here.
  23. I just realized there are two ways that could be read. You could mean that's the way it's always been in FS or in FSUIPC. I took it to mean that you were saying Gear Up and Gear Down have always been there to be assigned in FS. Now I suspect you meant the latter. Look in Settings and then Controls. Under "G" there is no "Gears" entry. Under "L" there are two entries: Landing Gear (extend manually) CTRL+G Landing Gear (extend/retract) G When I mentioned this on one of the other forums several people posted back that they too were surprised at this "change". I see no entry for the discreet states. Could it be that we've all been using FSUIPC for so long doing it the way I wanted that we just came to assume that's the way it was done in FS9? Regardless, I made the change and I'm once again happy.
  24. Pete, Just re-registered this morning as I just moved to FSX and trying to make a go of it. Having fun getting everything reset and so far I'm doing better than I recall doing with FS9 (as far as dead zones and such). I still have to tackle feathering and the reverser with my CH yoke (just downloaded the one PDF that's a sticky) and expect that to confuse me as it always does. hehe Anyway, one of the odd surprised of FSX for me has been a change in how they handle the gear. I have CH's typical yoke with the 3 throttles and the two toggle switches. One has always been for flaps and the other for gear. Very convenient. In FS9 pushing the right one up put the gear up. Pushing it down put the gear down. Now, for some unknown reason, in FSX (unless I'm completely off my rocker which is possible), they changed that so that all action for the gear happens when I push the switch downward. Down is gear down. Down is gear up. That's just not right in my view. Would there be a way to have FSUIPC step in and have it work like "discreet" commands do on say a high-end TV remote? When I push up, you check the state of the gear. If it's down, put it up. If it's up, ignore it. Do the same in reverse if I push the switch down. Does that make sense?
